Steam mods!

As I may or may not have neglected to tell you all, not too terribly long ago did the fourth disc of my Dungeon Siege II set break right in half. Since then I've gotten a new computer that is actually able to support the type of gaming I want it to. (I had to buy a external disc drive as it did not have it's own, which may or may not even be relevant) So of course this would present a problem. That problem being I couldn't put what may very well be my favorite computer game on my new PC. So, eventually I found out that Steam had Dungeon siege II which was a godsend in my eyes. Seven bucks later I have Dungeon siege II and naturally the first thing I'm going to try to do is throw in a few mods. Here's the problem. Going into Program files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Dungeonsiege2 directory and inserting any mod where it's supposed to go.. doesn't work. So, basically putting mods where I think they would have to go doesn't activate any mod. For Example, putting the Hotfix mod into the DS2 Resources file where it is meant to go, I start up the game and naturally the first sign that it works is the fuckton of messages it says in the bottom left. You know what I'm talking about. So my question is.. How am I supposed to add mods to the Steam-downloaded version of DS2? You can do it with Skyrim so I would think you could with DS2, right?

I have not use it so I can not answer the question. I know that there are several people however that do maybe one of you can give a bit of help here.

That's true as you can discover if you look through the forums there (always the first step if you're looking for information about Steam support for games).

Unfortunately there seems to be little interest in mods for Dungeon Siege by steam users. The only two posts asking about if haven't even received a reply. And last year KillerGremal and myself posted there about whether anyone could help contact one of the representatives of Square-Enix to see if we could use Dungeon Siege assets in DS2. We didn't exactly get a warm response either from the members or moderators.

Maybe you'd be better trying to get physical copies through Amazon, if it's available in your area? Unfortunately now that the Dungeon Siege series in on steam, all digital distributors seem to point to that version to download (saying you need a steam account to run this version of the game). Maybe one day it might appear on GOG but seeing that the most recent Square-Enix title is from 2003, it'll probably be a couple of more years before that happens, if it ever does (I've voted for it on the GOG wishlist).

I know I've also seen jewel case copies of Dungeon Siege 2 Deluxe in EBGames here in Oz. Maybe look in some of the retailers that deal with second hand games, etc.

I am always visiting stores that stock old and used versions games like DS1 and DS2 most can find them. There is a DVD sold on Amazon that contains DS1 and LoA and I believe it was less than 15 dollars shipping included.
