Can't play on lan anymore, file mismatch (but there isn't)

So my wife and I have been playing ds1 on lan for a while now. Today I tried switching to LoA but I can't get her PC to join. I get the "Files are different or missing from the host" error and the list it gives is ludicrous (includes things like Objects.dsres etc) I even tried copy pasting my resources and dsloa folders to her pc. No go. So I run a CRC check, every last -ing file is identical. So what gives. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrrrrghhh! I hate this "helpful" computer trend, it always ends up resulting in things like this. I miss the days when a computer did EXACTLY what you told it to, and if it screwed up that was your problem.

UPDATE:
okay this is just screwy. I tried installing cm adepts on both pcs and on mine I got the blue dialog boxes hers just got parts of it blue. Odd... so in desperation I pulled out a mod manager and selected all the same options and bam, problem solved.

I don't get this. no mods (before adepts), no file mismatches, so why would it work if the mod manager starts the game but not if you run it from the shortcut made by the installer.

It could be a problem with DSLoA.exe on her computer did you copy that from your system also?

Yep, copied the whole folder over in the end. Odd part is after running it once with a mod manager the thing runs fine from the normal shortcut now. Meh. Maybe I'll stumble across the reason one day but I won't lose sleep over it.

On an LoA related aside, I know the DS1 maps never had voices when played through LoA's engine but is there anyway I could fix that? Untank the maps and use the region conversation editor to assign the correct audio sample or something? I figured it was just because the voice files weren't present in ExpVoices, or the file pathing was confused; but I tried retanking that file with all the voices files from DS1 included and it was no go, neither did copying voices.dsres into the DSLOA folder.
