Risen

Just finished Risen last days.

It's a Gothic III clone or kinda sequel, about a minimum of 30 hours of gameplay.

With the latest patch, I've encountered some minor dialog bugs, but nothing blocking just npc talking about things they should not yet, or not anymore. I've been stuck 2 times on the map during the whole game due to ground/object collision with the player model, and also slipped once "under the map ground".

It is a fun game, however the ending suxx xD

I just checked out the trailers on youtube and it does look interesting but the interface seems to suffer from consolitis.

A thread on SiegeCore has me looking at Dragon Age Origins with interest...

The interface is similar to Gothic games.
If far from being the best of artn it is easy to use because you rarely have to open your inventory, the only thing you might often use, if you are a spellcaster, are the shortcut keys 0 to 9.

The controls is similar to Gothic/Oblivion etc...

I have pre-ordered Dragon Origins already. A standalone Character Creator is already downloadable if you wanna toy with that.

Heh... the character creator doesn't really interest me, but I am hoping for a DAO demo to play. And I'll probably wait a while before seriously considering buying... pre-ordering puts you out on the bleeding edge and most games need a patch or two before they really become enjoyable.

About the only game I'm considering getting the day of release is Diablo 3 (Blizzard has a good reputation for quality, and I know 100% I'm buying it).

Well the character creator is good if you are waiting to play the game, because the face of the character can be alterated in many ways, it uses a facegen system similar to Oblivion or Mass Effect. So you can take time to tweak in details your wanted face(s) and so to be all ready to play at once when the game will be arrived Tongue

About release quality, Bioware is good and have created constantly big hit titles for a long time.

Bioware is one of the good guys. Smile

(I just Googled them and found out they're Canadian! Laughing out loud I didn't know that.)

Lol. Go Canada! Smile

Glad to see they're not Quebecois, or I'd have to boycott them on principle.

Of course, if they were, all their games would be ONLY available in French-Canadian (and not even real French).

I see you know something about Canada (there's a story in the news today about the hypocritical language law garbage).

Edit:
Sorry to Elys for taking your thread off-topic.

Vive le Quebec libre! Tongue
