FPS Problem with BW

Hello everyone!

I'm not sure if this has been answered in this forum, but I am having FPS problems with BW. DS2 is working fine and I get around 100+ frames when playing the game through its launcher, but within the game launching it from BW renders an average of 14 frames.

Some info about my system:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130318-1533)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: MSI
System Model: MS-7751
BIOS: BIOS Date: 09/14/12 08:22:40 Ver: 04.06.05
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.8GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 16322MB RAM
Page File: 4455MB used, 15960MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode

I am using the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 ti

I have gone as far as to have the game installed on the SSD and I have an edited .GAS file to allow my card to be recognized by the VideoConfig. I have gone into the NVIDIA control panel and diabled AntiAliasing and Vsync. At this point I have no clue what I should do next. I mean what is the difference between DS2 and BW that allows one to run fine over the other?

BW is in patch 2.3 by the way.

It seems that this problem has occured for lots of us, but it also seems that the fix is different for each of us as well. It could be as simple or complex. There are a good number of threads that talk about this. Also welcome the the site.

After researching all that I could within this forum and elsewhere, I have come to a conclusion that there are no fixes to the fps performance problem I am having.

I have terrible patience and would prefer that someone who has a lot of experience with this issue chat with me if that isn't a problem to see if I am overlooking something small.

Thanks for the welcome by the way. Laughing out loud

I reset my graphics options in my NVIDIA control panel to default and I'm getting 100 frames.... that's logic for ya..

I totally forgot about the graphics driver issue with newer Nvidia cards both lady femme and iryan made note of this in one of the forums. Sorry, the elf says as she kicks herself.

shudnt it be set to "let the application decide"? set ur own custom options at ur own risk lol Laughing out loud

While the mouse bug has mysteriously vanished from the steam version, I still have the framerate issue, quite bad since I am trying to play broken world too, for maximum experience (And crafted uniques).

Tried a bunch of things, didn't get to stay at 30 at the very minimum.

@boromonokli: Try once to run the game with one CPU core only - some people got the impression the game would be actually faster like this, and that mastering a multi-core CPU does not seem to be the big strength of DS2/BW...

hi, welcome again a aranna. try this, disable Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) by BIOS. work to me...

Thanks denoshir for bringing this up.

I play Dungeon Siege 2 with Broken World and Legendary Mod every other year anew, love this game even after soon 20 years. Disabling the Virtualization Technology also works on AMD CPUs (it is named a bit different).

BTW dgVoodoo works fine with Dungeon Siege 2, you can force a beautiful AA and Texture Filtering. Never got the Shaders to work correctly though so i tend to put them off (water looks like liquid metal with standard and advanced shaders sadly).

Happy New Year Smile
