can i use MonsterLevel Adjustment Mod, Beta 4a with BW?

Two things:
1. The current version appears to be Beta 4b.
2. Reference in the readme file:

Perhaps you should ask first what the differences are compared to 4a - and they are not significant so Beta 4b never was announced anywhere, it just was delivered when downloading.
However, now the MonsterLevel Adjustment is labeled on the download site with Beta 4b. Wink

All versions of this mod are intended to work with v2.3/Addon, and if really playing Erthos Struggle with v2.3 it's recommended to install the recipe fix too.
By default the mod has no consequences on the BW map but there would be some exceptions to allow it.

It appears that when you have a high level party of 5 or 6 characters some bosses appear twice on several maps. I know that increasing the number of monsters based on the party was something you where working on, but this could be a bug.

I have seen this on other maps but the test map is small and the harpy queen is easy to find. It occurs also with bosses on Legends of Aranna, Kingdom of Ehb have not looked elsewhere.

I was unable to reproduce the difference between the two versions of the mod today after installing the new DS1_Mod_Logic_Beta31 that Iryan posted today.
The problem seems to have vanished and I am not sure why.

It's true actually that with 6 party members also boss monsters sometimes can duplicate - with a 30% chance almost.
So appearance and amount is randomized, making it a bit intransparent how it works.
But if you have the impression that something is wrong, then just let me know.

I shall play a few more maps in both DS2 and BrokenWorld before I decide something is wrong or not. A 30% chance is okay as far as I am concerned.

I guess you have to to activate the Level Adjustment mod for your map first. There are about 3 ways to do it:

- For personal belongs you easily can do this with a setting in the DungeonSiege2.ini file.
- You also could copy the example configuration file world/maps/your_world/info/level_adjustment_config.gas (from inside the mod) to your own map folder. Customization are possible but the sole existance of the file is sufficent already to activate the mod.
- You could buy a Rune of Mending for your hero, however only a few shops on other maps may sell you such a rune.

My test world is designed to test weapons, armor and characters it should not be used with the level adjustment mod. If fact you will note that there is no button on the side of the trunk to disable the level adjustment mod. Although the harpy queen is level 40 you should not be able to kill her if things are setup correctly - The DS2Map file in the ds2 map folder and the DS2Res file in the ds2 resources folder - you have the latest version of the monster level adjust mod. It should not matter if you have a weapon so powerful that it will kill anything with one blow, you should not be able to kill the level 40 harpy queen.

@Legosp: Recheck what bare_elf has posted, however my post about the level_adjustment_config.gas file was a bit misleading perhaps - this file is only useful for mappers/modders.
And if you haven't done yet, add monster_adjust_world = my_test_world in your DungeonSiege2.ini file, or in DungeonSiege2BrokenWorld.ini if you play with the addon.

I have one additionla question.
is possible add in this mod experience tab (how many exp i have, how many exp i need for next lvl)
If I, for example, I passed the cursor on the yellow bar and i can see how many exp i have

hi when im in the dryad town and open the storage chest i get the message (monster level mod : disabled).
it dosnt say it every-time i open the chest but in the past 2 days of playing its said it maybe 3 or 4 times.
is there a hotkey or similar to re-enable mod ?

There is a button on the side of the chest and there are some areas on the chest where if you have the mouse pointer you can accidentally turn the mod on/off, incidentally on some maps if you turn the mod off there will be no button on later chests in that game session, you have to return to the one you used first or save then exit then continue to get the buttons back

Some things need to be retuned concerning this button, for example required data may not be ready yet when the stash/button loads.
However there will be a new release soon anyway, also providing a fix for this matter.

is this still being worked on? there are some serious issues with this mod. Bosses that regen health cannot be killed with it enabled. The mod also does not seem to take into account the skill tree at all, which is a problem when half the spells needed to progress through ds1 are not present in the game (legendary mod).

I tried downloading the latest version of this beta 5f, and the site is down.
if someone could resume work on this legendary mod, that would be great also as it is currently in beta state.

Character turns invincible/invisible, cannot die, does reduced damage randomly
spells and sklils often do not work at all
character often stands there diong nothing and won't attack, cast spells
los is out of whack, characters will not move themseles into positiion to attack enemies
bosses like gom and krakken from loa cannot be beat due to improper scaling (levels not taking into account skill points/missing spells, healing themselves to full health when @10 hp. only way to beat these guys is to disable level adjustment mod and come back when overlevelled.

I'm just not seeing how this is better than playing the OG DS.
where can i get these bonus campaigns/single player mp map, diablo map seperately to work with ds1? I only have base game and LOA, and with DS2 only have BW.
I could go on and on here.

Heya everyone,

first of all I want to say thanks! to all you modders and active community for keeping one of my absolutely favourite games alive, even after so many years. Thank you!

I play the game frequently, and was wonderfully surprised that there is still a lot going on here, and that many mods are available also on nexus, so I'd like to ask for help on an issue on the Monster Level Adjustment Mod (Version 5v), I use it together with the Legendary Mods (from Killah).

My two current Parties are ~Level 42 and 94, and the MLA give me level 30-32 monsters for the first party and and level 80-83 monsters on the second party, which makes it plain impossible to continue to level my characters. I leveled them mostly on the original DS2 and BW maps, but I wanted to play the DS1 Maps, too, but even with removing all other mods I can't seem to get the level adjustment right.

Anyone any ideas? Every bit of help is greatly appreciated Smile

Interestingly enough I found another party in my old savegames (level 45ish), I loaded it, and tadaa, leve adjustment worked, monster levels around 44-46... which is strange, since I played that party without any level mod ever. The problem with the too low level seems to be occuring in savegames which have the "switch all, local, off" version of the monster level adjustment...
After further testing it seems that my level 94 party gets correct monster levels in Broken World ELITE but seemingly only because the original map monster level is in that range.
If I can help fix this please let me know, I'd like to help out however I can Smile

@realawesome: Possibly the map/region you are playing has a local definition which levels the monsters should get - this can cause some disturbance under circumstances.
For such a situation You have to tell the mod to disrespect the intended adjustment resp. the local definition.

In order to do this, there is a button on one side of your tresor vault, by default it is set to 'local' (you can hold the mouse above the button to see it) so click the button until you have 'all' (it may be that your old savegame/party had this already while the other two not).

thanks for the answer, I came back to the game today. I tried the change of settings, it does not seem to work with my old party though, mobs in all maps (DS1, DS:LoA, DS2, DS2:BW and Diabloish tried), all enemies level 77-80 (main character level is 99).

I tried it with my "newer" party (currently level 46), all mobs turn to level 30-33, no difference if I use "local" or "all". When disables the DS2 maps give the usual levels (DS2:BW Level 90ish towards the end of the expansion). Images 1+2 "all", 3+4 "local", 5+6 "disabled".

I will make a new install with the Monster Level Adjustment Mod only and give it a new try, I hope to solve this issue, since I really LOVE the work you modders do (and did the last almost 20 years :D). If I can be of any help please just let me know how Smile
