Farmgirl skins, something odd and a question

A question and/or more questions.

When I was making this mod I made two versions, one for regular DS and one for LoA. I used DDLullu/AlphaDan's A1 model that allows the character to use alpha channels and modifying the skins created by PhoeniX for their CutieGirl Mod. The cutie mod requires the use of the DS LoA exe to work.

When I making the DS1 version, I noticed that the character could wear the alpha channel a1 armor in the game, but no alpha for the shirts and pants for character creation. I had tried making a transparent skin for DS1 but it didn't work when I made a character w/ alpha channel armor and the transparent part appeared as black. I was making a different version and messed up typing in pants.gas. During character creation the mod showed my typo "texture" as a transparency and the character was "naked" from the waist down. I corrected my typo and removed the invisible skin. In the next version I added in names in the gas files for pants and shirts that did not exist.

[farmgirl]
	{
	        * = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0810; //fake texture
	        * = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0811;
                * = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0816;
		* = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0820;
		* = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0821;
		* = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0822;
		* = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0823;
		* = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0828;
		* = b_c_pos_a1_shrt_0831;

While cycling through the pants and shirts I got a nude skin at character creation. I thought this effect was interesting, but otherwise the characters still could not wear the other alpha channel armor during creation. Does this have something to do with how the character skins are laid out for the cutie girl mod? Is the layout the way it is to display ghastely's robe model correctly?

I know laid out is the wrong phrase but you guys know what I mean. My image host freaks out over nudity, btw.

The characters made for the loa version could display alpha channel armor, nudity and regular shirts and pants during character creation.

Somewhere in the Legends of Aranna dsres files there is a texture called b_c_pos_a1_invisible. I looked through the entire loa dsres and I have *no* idea where this file is stored. The only thing vaguely similar was a skin in the evil d monsters folder. I also looked at the cutie mod; didn't find a thing. So I used PhoeniX's gas files as a reference and added the invisible skin to both shirts and pants.

So I wanted to ask if having the "fake" skins in the DS1 pants and shirt gas files would do something bad to the game.
Yeah, I know I'm weird, silly and I worry endlessly, but I wouldn't want something like that to cause the game to crash.

Forgot to add 99& credit for this mod goes to AlphaDan and PhoeniX. Smile

Sorry for being so wordy.

This link to both mods stored in my Google drive should allow public access.

Kathy sorry I have no idea why your having the problems you are. For DS1 and LoA I use the Anime Cat Mansion Characters. So nudity and nude armor just happen. To test out why you are having the problems I would have to dismantle so much it would take weeks to undo and redo. I also have no issues with Alpha channel armor for DS2 and Broken World. There is an old mod called Xskins that might give you some clues. I do not believe this armor is alpha channel The skins are just gross but here it is anyway. I am also including a mod I made years ago called beach outfits. I am not sure if it works for DS1 but I know it works for DS LoA and has armor with alpha channels.

Thanks Lili, I appreciate you thinking of me. Smile

I'm not having a problem per se, but more of a "weird" thing. The alpha channel armor I made for in game use works just fine for both original DS and DS loa. I'm using the a1 model that DDLullu made for Cutie Girl Revived that can use alpha channel armor as well as the face and body textures created for use with that mod. All that I did was make a bunch of new faces and hair colors.

I just sort of stumbled on the "fake" shirt and pant textures creating a type of alpha channel. I had originally made a typo that caused the effect, but then I did it deliberately by adding a texture name into the pants and shirts gas files that do not exist and I guess it "tricked" Dungeon Siege 1. This was only on the character creation screen.

Essentially, the non existent textures caused the underlying body skin to show through with Dungeon Siege 1. With Legends of Aranna, all of the skins work properly on character creation and in the game.

I'm really just curious about what happened with the DS 1 character creation re: non existent armor textures. There is so much I don't know about how mod making works, like, the stuff that's really under the hood. So to speak. I can rustle up minor things and I like making pretty textures. So for me, this is more of an experiment that I'm trying to learn from. I'm sure there must be an explanation for this weird thing.

Example of pants.gas from the Dungeon Siege 1 version of the mod.

The .zip file is empty bare_elf, is this a yankee practical joke that you play on us Limeys every now and again? or is it just a simple mistake on your part?.

I will take a look and discover what the heck happened.

problem is the web site only takes files of 10 mb or less the xskins is 11.8 mb

I get this when trying to download your xskins .zip file elfy.

Use this site for uploading .zip files and stuff elfy, no need to register or signup and as a guest user they host your .zip file for up to 30 days, and more importantly your .zip file can be up to 5GB in size. Big smile

My dear little elf I'm sorry to cause you so much aggravation, now, are you saying that the upload site I posted is crap or is it an outburst of exasperation I'm detecting in that last post you made. Big smile Laughing out loud

EXASPERATION total exasperation grrrrr

Elfy, try zipping the mod. This is my MediaFire LINK for Siege of the Three Kingdoms Weapon pack, in a Zip file. I was able to download it without trouble. I got the same message as Moros when I attempted to download your original link.

If that doesn't work, maybe File Dropper will. I think you will still need to compress the mod into a zip or rar.

I used winzip at its maximum compression. Also tried 7zip however both programs only compressed the mod about 10%. I received error messages with both MediaFile and Ufile that would not allow me to continue uploading. I will look look into File Dropper, As soon as I get over being pissed off about uploading a mod to the site. Wish the file size was bigger than 10MB to bad it can not be 20MB.
Elf

Hey Lili-

Sorry, I'm not trying to be a dick, I know that you would compress files for upload here. But, when I followed the link you posted to MediaFire, it showed me two unzipped folders (art, world) to download and then presented me with the link about signing up for premium membership. I wish Siege the Day could have a bigger file upload as well...10MB isn't very much.

Did you try to download the file I posted at MediaFire?

Your zip file was downloaded without a problem kathy, Elfy is just having some minor problems at the moment. Tongue
