Template help

I wrote up a tutorial recently on making a basic skin for BW, and I was going to follow it up with another that takes the next step and adds a new armor with its own template etc. and mentions a few ways to add things to the game.

Everything works smoothly with my example, except that the item level seems to have got lost, as the armor has way less defense than intended. I'm sure it's just a typo in the template, but I can't see it.

Does anyone have a method for finding these? In the previous games (DS1, LoA, DS2) there was always a xxxMod.exe that you could fire up and look at the logs for messages, but for BW-specific things sometimes you just have to load the full game (or at least Elys' All*saves) and just hope.

One thing I'll try tonight is opening the template with SkritPad. Sometimes the syntax coloring will expose a typo, sometimes it won't.

------- Edit -------

Avoided the problem by moving the item_level to a different block but I'd still like to find a way to debug this for BW.
