Squirrels ate my interwebz

For the last 5 or 6 weeks we've been having some difficulties with our television cable and internet. We almost always watch programs after they've aired with Comcast's "OnDemand" service which has been cutting out in the middle of programs (missed 45 minutes of Doctor Who that way...*grumpy face*) or even better, the service simply wasn't available.

What hurt much more was not having internet service for hours at a time, or being disconnected right in the middle of something. Over the last several days this has gotten worse so we didn't have any service at all. Le sigh.

So being the computer savvy people that we are, we did nothing, since when I say "savvy" I really mean to say "procrastinating bumbling idiots". Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today. Or something like that. Well, we did figure out we needed a new router, so now we're all networky and stuff. Finally. I did say something about bumbling idiots, yes?

Anyway...the Man of the House called comcast this morning and they sent someone out this afternoon. What made us feel less bumbling was the fact that most of the problems were due to squirrels chewing on the lines connecting to the house (?!) Yup. We're all fixed up now until wabbit season.

And there was much rejoicing. Yay.

I know this pain... I had serious problems with my phone line (DSL internet) after a truck took out the wire and it was put up lower than originally... the thing kept getting pulled down... on outage lasted three days!

Since then a tree died, and a new higher route for the cable became available so we're good now (plus I have a smartphone for tethering in an outage).

It was so frustrating, and the last couple of days without internet...ugh. Stupid squirrels. I'm going to have to keep a closer eye on those furry fat bottomed little menaces.
