In the Giant Camp

Made it to the giant's camp last night and thinking it was a place that I could save the game and saved and went to bed, when I got back to the game tonight I discovered this.

I wonder how difficult a female giant would be to implement? Just scale up a human model and make her look like the male half giants?

I don't think a half giantess is necessarily what you are asking for, but I was always a bit curious about the half giants. Did they reproduce like amoebas? :P Are they like dwarves in the Tolkien universe and females are rare and nearly indistinguishable from their male counterparts? Beards and all, hehe.

Oh, and if I recall correctly in DS1 LoA, there was a hireable young woman archer located at the giant camp, she and her sister had been taken in by them or something.

I am not sure how difficult it would be to make a female giant that would work in DS2, There are quite a few things to consider. I can do some of the stuff but I really think a new mesh (set of bones) would be required. I do not have the software or skill necessary to do that. I will however give it some thought and maybe something will come to me in a dream. Smile

Ah, we'll see I guess. I was never able to get the hang of gmax myself, though I did try with one of the tutorials floating around. A half giantess would make for an interesting project I think, despite my silly picture in my blog. Smile

I think the history of dungeon siege mentions how the half giants evolved http://siegetheday.org/?q=node/1122

From memory they were Agallans who sided with Zaramoth so in punishment they were stripped of their size and banished. No female Agallans sided with Zaramoth so none were punished. How they reproduce I do not know but it seems their size has dimished even further over the years according to Magellus, who is part of a quest in DS2. If you talk to him a bit before offing him as he requests, he reveals some of the Half Giant's past. I think in the history of Dungeon Siege it hints that the Half Giants may be able to eventually atone for their sins and I assume become Agallans again.

Yes there is originally a hireable character in the Traders Camp but I didn't include her as there's already too many hireable characters for the Inn to handle if you recruit every single one of them (If this limitation is ever solved then there's no reason not to implement all the original hireable characters).

for a generic version of the half-giantess that could be done, i did a generic mod of giants that were female and male, just by makeing a new template copying human and resizing the scale to make bigger. they may not look like half-giant but they would be taller than normal women. imagine if one with talent could copy some half-giant paint etc over to some faces and make them look half way-half-giantess. i feel the same way about dwarves too, i wish they had female counterparts as well.

Hmm, interesting, I did not remember the lore regarding the half giants. I suppose I was twisting that element around a bit in my head by thinking the half giants were analogous to Tolkien's dwarves.

Ah , I see what you mean. I had noticed just in LoA that the half giants had many of the same mannerisms as Farmboy, so I (wrongly) assumed that they were based on a scaled up FB model. I like your idea for making gnomes playable.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply any criticism (either positive or negative) to my comment regarding the npc, but was responding to one of BE's screenshots. I would only offer my critique if I was testing the project...which I am tempted to do, but I would need to actually find my copy of DS2 as I don't have it currently installed. I'm cursed with disorganized-itis. Smile
