DS2 Models

I was wondering if there are any new model projects underway for DS2?

I was also wondering if someone would do 2 things for me.

First request is the sword that Valdis uses. That sword requires some bone rearrangement, especialy in the grip. Obviously, the in-game sword was designed for Valdis to wield, but hey! Some of us would love to use that sword, too!

I made a template for the sword, and it is wielded as if it were a crossbow, NOT a sword.

Would anyone like to fix this sword and release it as a public mod?

The second request is a little more easy.

The in-game Gladius is a tad too large to be called a gladius. A gladius is slightly larger than a dirk, yet shorter than a short sword. Would someone care to reduce the physical size of this sword, so it is more of a gladius and less a short sword?

If anyone responds, I will be more than genuinely impressed. Smile

SvS

Heh. I'm responding. Impressed?

Well, I am currently heading a large project for Dungeon Siege 1, but I'll drop a word in to the modellers about doing the sword when we're done.

By the way, if the community seems to be done licking its wounds from DS2 by the time Derelict is out, I may commission a siegelet for DS2, granted GPG gets their act together and changes problems with siege editor 2, like conversations, etc.

I have done some minor terrain work for ds2. I have a new texture set planned(unhappy with the current ones). I will probably make some new weapons and then see what ornaments can do after I work on this texture set. I am quite busy with a map and some code atm, so it will be awhile.

Personally svs I rather model a new sword that use that one, so I have no plans to work on that.

edit: Forgot I have a mace, a sphere(lol), and sphere with spikes modeled. I havn't gotten around to texturing them yet. I made those way back as well.

A sphere with spikes? For DS2? YAY! Please pleeeeease make that available! Would make an excellent projectile for a thrown Bomb! I am trying to make a bomb, that actually explodes 'reel gud', and am having difficulties trying to figure out the [physics] block for DS2, and there is another block as well, [something_explode], cannot quite remember the exact block name. To say me is interested in that spiked sphere, is to say that winter is cold in Canada during the months of January and February! hehe

Wyvante, why not fix the existing Valdis' Sword model for me (and the community). 'Tis a cool sword! C'mon, please reconsider. Would not take you much to fix the bone structure within the grip. Smile Smile

(looks at LoneKnight, muchly impressed) :P
LoneKnight, I am still reeling with shock AT all those that are 'licking their wounds'. I am in due process of finishing my mod, and to say it is going to be fun, woo yeah baby! :P A steep learning curve, means a good shake of the tree, and only the ripest fruit stay on the tree, the rest fall to the wayside. Wink

And another thing! (laughs a little)

I was watching the boob toob, and noticed something rather intriguing on the History Channel!

A shield, that is two-handed, and is a WEAPON!

Looks like a violin, with scrolling french curves on the top and bottom. Has spikes on the top and bottom of the french curves. Middle of 'shield' has a rectangular, and raised, 'button'.

Anyone feel up to making a shield that is a weapon? Smile

Thanks. Laughing out loud

Yeah, I'm trying to atleast heal this community as much as possible. Perhaps, I'll move onto DS2 as well. I just want to restore this community. I don't want to create a rift between DS1 and DS2 if possible. That's just stupid. They're both two good games, and I think it's best to do what we can to prevent further damage.

Afraid I'm quite strapped for time atm with vb apps, tuts, web design, math, map, and have a lot on my list =/ . Sadly I'm not getting all I need to done Sad .The weapon grip shouldn't be too hard. For the sword's texture I'm assuming the uvw is flipped and that can be fixed easily too. I havn't looked at a single gpg mesh for ds2 yet, lol. Kinda gave up on the spiked ball(it's low in polys and should explode nice I think), and some other things. When I get a break from school(only get 2 week breaks =/ ) I will try to get more done.

As far as making new models for DS2 are concerned, yes, I for one, am going to make a whole stack of them. At the moment, I'm busy porting most of my DS1 art assets into DS2. At this point in time, the goblin character from DS1 has mostly been transferred, what remains to be done is converting ALL the DS2 armour, boots, gloves and helmets for goblin usage and add some new animations for two weapon style fighting etc. Luckily the ASP & PRS files from DS1 still work for DS2. AIL-Een has also been converted and a few more animations added. http://herenaforge.org/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=893

If you check out the image below, you'll see that I've refined the existing human male a bit. http://herenaforge.org/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=894 Plans are to refine the human female a bit more as well for the mod I'm working on.

Other items I'm intending to make include firearms, program mods for AIL-Een (claws, wings, etc.), buildings, sci-fi vehicles (that transport you between areas ~ like a lift), ridable vehicle (from DS1 and new ones too)... So I'm going to be pretty busy... Always willing to accept help.

Dang it Snowy, I've been missing your updates lately! You've done some amazing work its always great to see new art put into the game.

On a side note, after playing activisions new release Gun, I was inspired to make a horse for DS and did a fair amount of work on that the other night, I'll post some screenshots when I think it looks Horsey enough. Laughing out loud

Hijacking only slightly here, has anyone used 3DS Max (rather than gmax) for any model work yet? I'm finding that even though I compare against the reference models for size, when I launch the Animation Viewer to preview a model from Max, it comes over about 50 times too big! 8O

I've checked all the settings against those used in gmax, and can't find any scale-related things to tweak.

Hmm, you using the metric system? I have not used the previewer but have exported models fine.

meters and mm in unit setup.

Whats better for making model in ds2, Gmax 1.2 or 3D Studio Max?

If you have the money for buying 3ds max...........sure 3ds max. I do not know if there are any DS 2 exporters for Gmax.

Well I had both now, so time to start reading the tutorials. Laughing out loud
