My Character Artemis

Is based on the Greek goddess Artemis. ARTEMIS was the great Olympian goddess of hunting, wilderness and wild animals. She was also a goddess of childbirth, and the protectress of the girl child up to the age of marriage. She with her twin brother Apollo also bringers of sudden death and disease. In ancient art Artemis was usually depicted as a girl dressed in a short knee-length chiton and equipped with a hunting bow and quiver of arrows. So this character kind of fits both my game character and myself. We both have a wolf as our best friend. We both are expert with a bow. Now Artemis does not use a compound bow in the game since it has not been invented yet. However she can equip bows I have designed for my rangers. That have some very special abilities, enchantments and ranges like bows in the real world. She I think enjoys killing Krug from long range and watch their comrades run about in total confusion thinking the enemy is 10 to 15 meters away. Silly Krug.

Here is Artemis in a custom outfit.

Can she transform a monster into a stag (or a deer, as already exists in DS1)?

An interesting idea. However not exactly sure how I would do that so that the monster would change into a neutral non fighting character.

I wanted a fawn as a non-combat "pet" (pack animal, I guess) for DS1. I have dog pets, why not a cute little deer too? I haven't been doing much on the gaming front lately, but I'm feeling like modding fever may set in. Wink

I like Artemis' outfit. It looks like a good interpretation of an ancient Greek clothing.

Transformations were a feature of Legends of Aranna if you remember. GPG didn't use the feature in DS2 for some reason.

Maybe KillerGremal would know if it was possible to create transformations in DS2.

LOA also had the cool Dopplegangers which if you remember cloned one of your party to attack you with. Unfortunately since that's based on the transformation code they are one monster not found in the DS1 Map Pack version of LOA.

Could be a cute little deer who runs away from trouble at the first sign or a wolf in deer's clothing who kicks monster's butt whenever they showed their face.

It's actually pretty straightforward making new pets. The easiest way is to select an existing pet and just clone it, renaming entries as required. That's how I did Norick's dog. If you're unsure how to go about it just let me know.

Even if you want it kept as a cute little deer, it could still have auras, etc that could help the party out.

That would be really neat (esp the auras) and pets are a cool feature of DS2. Smile

Here's a cute little deer for Kathycf

Can be picked up from the Eirulan Pet Store. Unfortunately the deer can't attack but can be given auras, powers and spells. There's no attack animations just like with the rabbits which bare_elf wanted to be turned into rapid monsters and inhabit the Orchid Cellar in the Utraean Peninsula.

Talking about bare_elf, I hope you don't mind me highjacking this thread to post this minimod.

we shall put it to use. This was the best place to post it I think since Artemis is a Goddess that will know how to employ it.

Thank you very much for that Iryan. She looks so sweet! Laughing out loud

Should you plan to turn it into a combative pet, you could try to use a fidgeting animation for [chore_magic] and equip some kind of top-down lightning spell (or one that also could be preform without much gesticulation).
It depends on the type of fidgeting animation though, some of them don't seem to support this approach (most probably because action triggering events may be skipped).

There's a strange NPC model in DS2 - half female, half deer:

Unfortunately her animation support is really low, no idea what GPG planned to do with it.

I tried KillerGremal's suggestion with the spells without much luck. You can see the deer is trying to cast the spell as it has the casting animation for the spell, in this case fork lightning, but nothing else happens.

So I turned the deer into a purely defensive pet. The primary attack is a heal spell. It also has 4 debuffs and curses it will evoke randomly on the enemy. So probably now a very useful pet as it can take over that role from your combat mages and let them focus on what they are best at, damage dealing attack spells! You can easily untank the mod and change the debuffs into whatever you want as long as they aren't combat spells.

As a bonus here's KillerGremal deer woman? I called her a Nomad as she is more nomadity.

Like KillerGremal said, there's no idea of what GPG were planning for her. She's available as a pet in Eirulan as well, just as a quick way of getting her into the game. As KillerGremal said she has very few animations so has the same problems as the Deer, though she could be made to work the same way if you want to modify her as such.

they probably intended to use her as some sort of a desert nomad or aborigine npc for kalrathia.
