Heroes of Arhok theme music

I was wondering if someone could help me acquire the file of the Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna music / sound effect that plays when you pass the tomb of Orrin and Feline, heroes of Arhok, in the Zaurask stronghold - right before Neener’s Emporium.

As I have bought the Dungeon Siege jewel case that included Legends of Aranna, I reinstalled it and - more or less in accordance with steps 1-5 of “How to Place Custom Music in Dungeon Siege” (http://www.siegetheday.org/?q=book/export/html/508) - extracted what I believe was at least most (if not all) of the music, sound effects, and speech excerpts (i.e. voice files) via tankviewer from the original Dungeon Siege files as well as from Expansion.dsres and ExpVoices.dsres. However, I was unable to find the theme music for the Heroes of Arhok in any of the aforementioned locations. For reference, it can be heard slightly in the background between 00:30:34 and 00:30:50 of https://youtu.be/ARLT0Zqc6Tg?list=PL540E3C983A646C0D and is more emphatic between 00:14:50-14:49 of http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=PL540E3C983A646C0D&v=bijtdHkFrQk#t=888s as well as between 00:07:28-00:07:39 of https://youtu.be/BsbRDmeag4c?list=PL540E3C983A646C0D.

As may be suitable, and provided that someone has found the music / sound effect file in question, I would be most grateful if someone might be able share the file either within the forum topic itself (if possible) or in a cloud storage system such as Google Drive. Alternatively, if the file location of the music / sound effect within the Dungeon Siege + LOA file directory is known but cannot be shared, I would still be grateful if the file location could be shared with me in order that I could make another attempt at extracting it.

A third means via which the theme music might be able to be shared (e.g. if the file for it cannot be found) would be to, in game, get as close to the tombstone(s) for Orrin and Feliene as one can and use a technology akin to screen capturing to audio or video record the gameplay while the music / sound effect plays and then either share the result as a file or upload it to such as a site as YouTube (which could then be downloaded and/or converted as suitable). While the music / sound effect acquired this way would probably not be as distinct as if the original file for it were to be found, if the Zaurask and other enemies in the area surrounding the tombstone(s) were to be dispatched beforehand (to avoid incorporating grunts, weapon-striking sounds, battle music, etc. unintentionally into the recording) and one got as close as possible to the tombstone(s) to minimize the volume of the general dungeon / stronghold music in the background, I believe the music / sound effect could be recorded with a clarity relatively close to that conjectured original file.

*Admittedly, I mention this means without having tried to do it myself in advance in accordance with the belief that, though I was able to install Dungeon Siege (Legends of Aranna) on a Windows 10 computer, I have significant doubts about my ability to actually get it to run as well as successfully transfer old save files to it in order to get to the exact corresponding part of the game without having to almost entirely play through it from the beginning again.

The name of the asset playing there is s_m_the_zaurask_stronghold_theme

you can get it out of expansion.dsres\sound\music\

Enjoy!

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you for searching for and promptly responding regarding the requested music / sound effect file location. However, I’m afraid that the requested music / sound effect is distinct from the Zaurask Stronghold theme; while the aforementioned theme or generic dungeon / crypt music plays while one is traversing the stronghold in general, when one gets particularly close to the tomb of the Heroes of Arhok, that music stops playing and some music / sound effect file corresponding to the Heroes of Arhok starts playing. Correspondingly, the Zaurask Stronghold and Heroes of Arhok theme music / sound effect files play mutually exclusively, never one playing for more than a second or two in-game while the other one is.

In the attempt to facilitate my request, attached is a link to a Google Drive folder containing the excerpts of the requested music / sound effect as described of the YouTube video in the body text of the original request: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B5_6huF615EFSzcwMWdYUWd3dlE&usp=sharing. As they are from a playthrough video of Legends of Aranna, they do not suffice for my purpose of being able to listen to the respective music / sound by itself, but may help in identifying the music / sound effect in question. In the folder, the requested music / sound effect plays for the entirety of the excerpts of “Let's Play Dungeon Siege, Legends of Aranna_ Chapter 4 - Part 6” and “Let's Play Dungeon Siege, Legends of Aranna_ Chapter 4 - Part 7” and in the middle of the excerpt labeled “Let's Play Dungeon Siege, Legends of Aranna_ Chapter 4 - Part 8” – other music being retained at the beginning and end of the last-mentioned clip to show how the in-game music changes as one approaches, walks past, and then takes one’s leave of the tomb of the Heroes of Arhok.

Thank you again for the response and I hope to hear from you and/or others in the near future with additional information or media toward acquiring the requested designated Heroes of Arhok music theme / sound effect. For reference, the designated Heroes of Arhok theme music excerpts seem to be playable within Google Drive as browsed in Firefox, but not in Safari (though they can still be downloaded from Safari) and I'm not sure about Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, etc.

Okay, I double, triple checked and the music track playing is definitely the one I gave:
s_m_the_zaurask_stronghold_theme
... excerpted at different points in that track.

I reconsidered your video clips and maybe you are not drawn to the music track but the ambient track overtop it... the soft chorus?

In multiplayer LoA there is an Azunite resurrection point placed kind of ironically near the graves, and the ambient track playing in all three video clips is the sound emitted by these shrines (which are invisible in single-player), which is
sound.dsres\sound\effects\s_e_env_secret_nearby.wav

I've just visited that location and have been playing with the sliders on the Audio options panel. The musical noise you are trying to track down is volume-controlled by the Ambient Sounds slider, not the Music slider.

Thank you both for your time and effort in confirming that 1) the soft chorus sound corresponds to one of the game folder’s sound effect directories and 2) that the audio that plays when one is in close proximity to the tomb of the Heroes of Arhok is in fact a mix / hybrid of the sound effect s_e_env_secret_nearby and various sections of s_m_the_zaurask_stronghold music (which accounts for the drum and bird (hawk?) calls that are not present in the s_e_env_secret_nearby sound itself but that, as a supplement to that sound, give it an ambience that more greatly corresponds to Legends of Aranna and contrasts it with the s_e_env_secret_nearby sound that plays by itself in the original Dungeon Siege). Correspondingly, it appears that my belief that the Zaurask Stronghold music and soft chorus sound (near the tomb of the Heroes of Arhok) play mutually exclusively was misconceived, so thank you for humoring me.

While I had ideally hoped to find a pristine single file that had both the soft chorus sound and the apparent excerpts of the Zaurask Stronghold music (but not Zaurask grunts, sword thrusts, crossbow fire, etc.), as the requested purported single file is indeed two files, I guess I will either play the soft chorus sound and Zaurask Stronghold music files individually or perhaps use such a program as Audacity to try to re-create a sort of mix / hybrid of the two audio files as plays in-game but sans other sounds.

Thank you again. If there is a way of indicating that the request within a given forum topic has been fulfilled (e.g., marking such a topic as completed or closed), then I believe such can now be done.

Peace, long life, and happy sieging,
Eric (alias zekeolis)
