DS2 Broken World 2.3 Talon not appearing

Playing through DS2 again (Broken World v2.3) and I don't recall having issues with this in my first playthrough over a decade ago, but I've reached Talon, wiped my party, reloaded the game and Talon is nowhere to be seen.

I've read all about this bug for the past few hours, but have been unsuccessful in finding a resolution. Ideally, I'd like to just reset the quest and accept it once more to trigger the cut-scene and resume play. However, the more I read, I find the best solution is to just bypass it.

Can anyone help me do this? I'm comfortable editing files and things, I just have no idea where to begin looking. Seems there was once a hotfix that did this, but none of the links are working.

Any help is appreciated. I'm streaming the entire playthrough and this has stuck me for 3 days now. Anywhere else I can find a solution? I'm all ears!

Greetings Stormtrooper.
I am assuming you are using the retail versions of Dungeon Siege 2 and Broken World, so just a few questions so we can narrow down the problem.
1. Do you have Dungeon Siege 2 updated to version 2.2?
2. Do you have any mods installed in either Dungeon Siege 2 or Broken World?
3. What version of Windows are you running?
4. What is you computer's hardware configuration?

Thank You,
Elf

Hi, and thank you for the reply. I have Dungeon Siege 2 and Dungeon Siege 2: Broken World. I installed Broken World, but opted to start my journey with DS2 first. So I'm making the assumption that the game version is 2.3 (per a couple web resources). It may not be. How do I check my game version?

No mods. I'm a simpleton/purist.

Windows 10
Intel Core i5 6600K 3.50GHz
ASRock Motherboard
eVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 1060
16GB (8GBx2) RAM
500GB Samsung SSD
4TB Western Digital HDD

Hope that helps!

To check the Game version, start the game click on the "ABOUT" button. Dungeon Siege 2 should be version 2.2 and Broken World will be 2.3.
If Dungeon Siege 2 is version 2.1 you will need to update it with the patch and then remove and reinstall Broken World.

Try once the Aranna Legacy mod - there is some chance that it can bring back the dragon again.

What KillerGremal said. Although I'd check my DS2 version first. Even if you installed BW 2.3 the original game might be on ver 2.0. Backing up your saves, reinstalling the game and patching before installing the expansion is a good idea.

From DS2 patchnotes for ver 2.2
Fixed a primary blocking issue with second Snowbrook dragon fight triggering. Broken save games are now autocorrected at the encounter location

I have Broken World v 2.3. But if DS2 is a different version, how do I check that? I only have the one executable in the directory.

Well, I backed up my Save folders, installed DS2 (not Broken World), patched to 2.2, copied back my Save folder and no dice. Just brings up the menu with no option to Continue. Any other suggestions? Hate to start anew, but looks like that may be the only option.

I looked around and it seems others have tried the same with no avail. However I also found out there's a mod called "dragfix.zip" which apparently have worked for at least some people with the same problem.

Regarding your party not showing up... Did you try the legendary mod? From what I know, loading a save when a mod is active makes that save a "modded save" which will never show up again if you just use the original game. You'll have to use the allsaves executable to load such saves.

If that's not the case then your character is probably just behind the single player menu button since you installed the game and your "last party" in your .ini file is not set. You should then be able to just go inte single player and continue from there.

EDIT: If you're still stuck then I suggest uninstalling all of DS2 and BW then installing DS2 -> Patch -> BW (unless you did just that)
