Tank creator for DS2.

Does anyone have the javabased tankcreator for DS2?

I believe it was made by Ephistine.

sol, I have noticed some tank creation problems using whichever sort of tank creator that is currently available to us mod creators right now.

Even Elys has had some strange "it works, do a small change, now it does not work" issues with tank creation.

I am waiting for official word on any / all DS2 tools, and will just read the DS2 FEX and Logic cross reference files that are currently available to modders of this great game.

Wish I could give you a better reponse.

Regards,

SvS

I have attached the tank extractor, but wasn't aware that there was a java based creator... (only Zhixalom's RTC + ds2res converter package).

Thank you.

I have tank creator 2. It was not written by episthene(rtc + Zhixalom's ds2 addition). It was hosted at siege-mods.

Thanks.

I did not do a tank creator, because I stopped working on it a few weeks ago when Age of Empires came up Smile

Although I was almost done. I might try to finish it, although, I am somewhat uncomfortable, because GPG does not want people to mod their game, so whatever I do, they will go out of their way to make sure it stops working.

I mean, when GPG people in charge of making modding happen starts referring to mods are "rogue files", then you know you have a problem. Also, I doubt many people will mod DS games in the future, so there is not too much need, especially now that the Siege Editor has been *cough* totally revamped, so that it saves under a new file extension. At least there is a Siege Editor, even though it cannot create mods for the game, only for itself. Also, I really do not intend of checking whatever change they made to the new tanks, if any. I doubt anybody there has the expertise to actually change the program, but they might have changed a bit or 2 in the header. So I might create a program to create "rogue mods", but I could not care less about their new procedures and what not that they do not explain. And for sure, Siege Editor 2 will not take space on my hard drive, so I won't test the tanks it creates.

What you have now can extract tank files, but has some bugs for some tanks. But it works fine for the map and logic. The bugs have been fixed a long time ago; I was planning to release the fixes along with the tank creation. The closing of Siege-mods and the attitude of GPG cooled down my enthusiasm, and I don't see a point in helping GPG sell more games, since I consider I was scammed in buying it myself.
But I might do it anyway. At the least, I should release the fixed tank extractor eventually. Probably on DS Heaven.

Just wanted to clarify some things about the tool and basically say goodbye to what is left of the community.

We may all have funny names and wear strange hats, but Lord Episthene, you are ever welcome here..

- your wisdom is much respected!! :welcome:

er, sorry... it was me!

Yes, t'would appear Episthene is not all too happy these days. Best take away that big stick before someone really gets hurt.

Well me and ep been pissed off for a long time at gpg. I agree with him for the most part. I was sold crap but think i can fix this crap and make something beautiful. My only reason for staying is the dungeon siege node system.
One of the evil empires you will fight in my mod Outcasted Insurgents (oi) will be gas powered goons. Dwarf

Well, "crap," may be a little over the top... but definitely not what I was expecting. My main beef has been the removed PartyUI-GUI & in Game Difficulty-Selector. The other minor beef is overall game balance - which is extremely hard to do given the new "Limit Break" abilities.
I've been designing and working on game systems for over 15 years, from TableTop gaming to text-based MUDs. And really DS doesn't have a game system, the numbers 'crunch' extremely high, PC's almost always Hit their opponent, spells can't misfire or miss. The limit breaks do astounding damage. So instead of putting a game system in to handle these aspects, MOBs(enemies) are given a crapload of HPs.
Ok so maybe crap isn't over the top afterall heh.

Yet on the positive note, if you dig into the files, almost everything this time round is built ontop of a template, and not just for physics and AI, but also game defining stats of Mobs, Treasure, etc. So a complete overhaul to give the game a semblance of balance is halfway done already for anyone wanting to take that step.

I really do wish they made the skill system and class system easy to mod. I cannot add a new class or skill tree. An editer for this should be in se2 Sad .

We can fix it yes we can, we can move them with a plan.
There are a good deal of things still broken with DS2, but we are modders, we fix things.
It is our job to take "crap" make it pretty, make it useful, make it sing.

The elf dances off to learn the software so that she can make something that makes people laugh, makes people cry and makes people say " oh crap why didn't they do that in the first place."

We can do this people we are the fighters, we are the ones that have stayed, we are the ones that can not give up just because the hill has a 90 degree up angle. Use a rope, use a winch, or a ladder but climb above the negative air and build something that is better than the orignal...I know we can do this.

the elf looks about and wonders if the air in her head has spoiled, but starts climbing anyway.

/puts on his combat modding suit

guess gpg realy went corporate, no more "user friendly modding" i've got the mods that i've downloaded from back before siege-mods went down. the mods that i've been using/have available:

ElysDS2Succubus (load any saved game when modding ds2tank)

reagents (my semi unbalanced reagent booster, never got around to changing the levels that reagents spwan at, or the # of spwanables)

super_shops_v0_5 (most items in act 1 town shops, unbalanced, but easier to find what you want/need to make decent items)

seefar_ds2_02b (iryan (sp?) and his see far mod, it works very well, even though it clips like hell on the max setting. gpg has some nice artwork hidden by that ugly mist, this will remove it, but expect to see through some walls/many grey nothingness areas and a huge slowdown on max setting)

i'm behind a 56k-connection, so i'm limited to the last 3 as to what i can send through e-mail (400kb max, else the server times out)

Lets stick it to the man!

edit: I kinda feel different now. I think we are being too harsh on gpg. Point is I have fun modding. I think that's all that matters. I'm trying to get mood manager back and such. I think if we are nicer to gpg they would want to help us more. I know if you all started dissing my mod I'd move on. Poor biddle man. He is trying to make us happy Sad . I have just been frustrated.

they deserve a break, but keep them on a short leach. aka if the next patch royaly screwes modding over (worse than now, aka the resource folder requires a crc check of a pre-deturmined #, so no custom files...), i'm sticking with v2.2 and elys load any save mod

Apparently someone from gpg stopped in the irc channel. I have no idea what they said, though I figure in was banal pc gpg talk and now you are contrite. I suppose getting off their busy schedule of ignoring ds and working on their other game is cause for happy happy good times. I really dont care what someone says, I know what I see. And I see they dont really care what ds does for the future. DS1 may not have been as good a seller as DS2 has been so far, but at this point of time after DS1 was out there were a lot more mods out with lots of sieglet projects being planned, and as we well know just about all of them didnt pan out. DS2 may be okay for making a sp siegelet but it frankly sucks as a mp game. I prefer mp games over sp games and I prefer DS1 over DS2 for how it plays.

I have played DS2 from begining to end once, I really dont know if I will play through it again. I do not like the save games for mp. I do think they way it is set up is okay for sp but there is not much replay in sp games. One cant just start anywhere without having to use a mp save file. One cannot just put in mods to try them out and then change them without fiddling around with DS2mod, and you can be certain most players that are going to try out mods dont have se2, care what it is, or plan to try it, they just want to play little mods with their existing characters.

Be cowed if you wish but saying what you did think then turning face when those you talk smack about show is what I would call wishy washy.

I would call it maturity and growth. When someone shows you a different perspective, it would not be wise to ignore it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and changing your mind when new information is presented, is not necessarily a bad thing.

Yes when you are easily swayed from your opinions by a token apperence seems a quite reasonable response. But some convictions and beliefs are mere directions of the wind.

I understand you're upset sjr, but the insults are not appropriate and they are most certainly not on topic.

This topic has served it's purpose, and I'm closing it before it gets any worse.
