Hotfix Mod / Aranna Legacy Mod

I hope nobody has something against when i'm opening here a thread about the Hotfix Mod resp. Aranna Legacy Mod, but GPG's garage forum has widely lost its clearness and reliability due the flood of spam there.

So this thread here is rather intended to catch (rescue?) all GPG 'fugitives' than to start a new modding offensive. So many years have passed since the game was released and personal priorities have changed since then partially too - however, for the time being smaller bugs or lacks (probably) still will be fixed.

 

Mod download:

Hotfix Mod, Beta 5p (22.3MB, for DS2 base version, ReadMe)

Aranna Legacy Mod, Alpha 4a (25.5MB, for DS2 Broken World addon, ReadMe)
 

Note maybe:
- The Aranna Legacy mod is basically the same as the Hotfix mod, but the Aranna Legacy mod
  contains some additional fixes and tunings specially for the Broken World addon (v2.3/BW).
- If you don't like to read the entire ReadMe file right now, there's also a shorter overview online.

I have same problem. Can't play anymore after this quest.

Try right clicking then selecting "Save target as"

After spending some time in Kalrathia, here is what I have found out when this mod is only installed:

- Icon indicators (avove heads) may show up arbitrarily (v2.2 + v2.3/addon)
- A plant model may be missing (v2.2 + v2.3/addon)
- Assistance AI for NPCs may not always perform as intended (v2.3/addon only)
- Depending on shader setting a water texture may not show up (v2.3/addon only)

Basically however in v2.2 and v2.3/addon the Rebellion Quest performed well (and the conference-conversation after the rebellion between you, the Lord, Kynos and Tehruth did too).
The only minor flaw I experienced here is that there may be one or the other safety monster too much when you skip this quest (and leave the map/game) and continue it later.

 
If you have other mods installed affecting maps ported from DS1 to DS2 please ensure that the DS1 Content Pack, Alpha 11a (18.8mb, ReadMe) is installed (or newer). Older version of this mod could be one reason why quests in Kalrathia can fail.

 

Now should the Hotfix mod or the Aranna Legacy mod be removed (v2.2 or v2.3/addon), a crash may happen indeed in Kalrathia - still for widely unknown reason. Puzzled
As work-around mind the South-Eastern part of the town for the time being. If you need to talk to the Lord, take the way around the Northern side of the fountain.

Something in the Rebel Dungeon in/below Kalrathia seems to leave some data on the savegame incompatible with the mod-less game when the dungeon/basement gets loaded again.
I will try to find a fix for this, but the it's bit tricky because the logs don't even leave a single word about it.

Hey KillerGremal, I think this mod might have a graphical glitch with the Earthen Embrace spell. The rocks from this spell that float around the body are supposed to be bigger and higher off the ground, but for some reason they are really small and floating at the character's feet.
If it's not this mod it might be the MLA mod lol.

I don't know if you were aware of this or not, I just thought I'd tell you about it Smile

When I talk to Lord Kalrathia after killing the dark wizards, it's stuck. The game doesn't seem to recognize that you have talked to Lord Kalrathia, so when you walk over to Kynos, he tells you to talk to Lord Kalrathia. The questionmark above Lord Kalrathia will also not dissapear.

Is there a workaround?

In regards to the mentioned bug, it was encountered while playing with the latest version (alpha 3u).
Other reagents look okay so far.
If I find anything else suspicious, I'll report here.

I will look at it. If really only a missing texture is affect, it shouldn't be that difficult to add it.

If this matter is still pending, and assume this work-around here (assuming though you have other mods installed too) did not work, then I would be happy if someone could offer a savegame where this happens - since so far I wasn't able to reproduce this bug.

installed gold edition, added world shop mod (all reagents at vendor) and Legacy-Alpha3u

got some DS2 crashes while playing, but lucky for me i save frequently

however: cant finish quest
Created a ZIP with my savegame

Sorry, but as matter of interest/priority/work extended compatibility to some other mods can't be granted from my side.
So, you probably have to decide here which mod to use... :o

I've found some distorted textures all over Kalrathia.

They look like bushes or flowers of some kind.

@brookie: Thanks, this shouldn't be of course...!

After the water supply is restored in Kalrathia, palms will prosper and flowers may grow at some places.
For this I have used some old DS1 objects still in DS2 - and while the object definition still exists, texture or model may miss sometimes.

If you really bother about it, I just can propose to download the 'Objects+Sound Fix' from my mod site as temporary work-around.
In the next mod release these objects should be fixed however.

So, you probably have to decide here which mod to use... :o

I changed my settings and played without any other mods. I deinstalled DS2 and cleaned all remaining files, then did a clean new installation, with my old 4 original cds and addon cd, copied your mod with current version into ressource folder.

Now i am at act3 again, killed Dark Wizards and saved.
Then i picked up aegis and saved again, but its still bugged.

So i upload both savegames, before taking aegis, and after taking aegis, maybe this helps.

Sidenode: didnt get any more crash during the game without shop-mod, but cant continue now.

Thanks, I've already took a first look, and tomorrow I will go on examining it.
Hopefully I will be able to find at least a pleasant quest activation to bypass the matter at least temporarily.

Recently FIRED up DSII BW with Aranna Legacy Mod Alpha 3u. Also using Zhix's 1920x1080 Inventory mod.
Wanted to do some enchanting but if I talk to the enchanter (either Eirulan or AmanLu) the enchanting window overlaps with my inventory and I can't insert any reagents or items that I want enchanted. It seems that any reagents I try to put into the enchanting window just go "through" the window instead and land back in my inventory.
Tried various smaller sizes of Zhix's mod but nothing worked. Only the standard size inventory (without any inv enlarging mods) has the right position next to my inventory for me to put reagents and items in it. I'd really hate to only have the standard inventory as I got many unique items and reagents.

Has anyone else been having this problem?

I'm sorry, there is no real solution to this matter.
There are several GUI upgrades in this mod (partially larger reagent grid, improved spellbook labels, enhanced resisitance/char informations) that do not work or are generally not compatible with the stretched char inventory of the (various) Zhixalom's mods.

However there are mods offering a larger party stash/tresor (example). In combination with the spell to summon your tresor in this mod this may be a feasable work-around perhaps.

Thanks for the workarounds. Tried to play with the larger party stash/tresor mod but the tiny standard char inventory just didn't cut it for me. It fills up really quickly with just a handful of items and I am building a pure melee char (hammers&shield) and I don't want to skill up combat magic just to get that summon tresor spell.
Went back to using Zhix's inventory mod and figured if the time comes for me to enchant items I will just exit the game, take out the Zhix mod, enchant said item and then put it back in.

Some notes however.

Take care switching inventory mods of different sizes.
Under circumstances items may be auto-arranged beyond an area you may ever reach again.

That spell has a level 1 requirement (in combat magic) will cost you 300 exp points.
For level 15 (in melee) will need you 109'879 exp points, and further 18'364 to get to level 16.
For level >35 the 'loss' of 300 exp points becomes even more ignorable, as hundred thousends
of exp points are required to gain 1 level more.

I choose just the right size and inventory for my screen and resolution so that no items magically disappear.

Regarding the spell, I do know that the requirement is only 1 in Combat Magic. It's not about losing potential experience points (as 300 exp is really nothing and enemies respawn), it's more about the perfection of making a pure melee character. When I open up that inventory screen I want to see that 100% on my melee stat. Pure awesomeness!

Hi guys. I reached the part in Act III where the main quest does not continue. I defeated the Dark Wizards and got the Aegis of Life, return to Kalrathia to speak with the dying lord and the main quest doesn't continue. I heard some other people were running into this problem but I was wondering if anyone found a workaround? It's really frustrating coz it keeps me from playing this game. See below some things I tried to work around this problem:

- Removed several mods (supershops, chantsQuest, Zhixs inventory mod etc.) I'm playing with to see if it works
- Removed the Aranna Legacy mod completely to see if it works. Game crashes any time I walk close to the Lord's chamber. This happens even if I take the north side of the fountain to pass it. It might be that walking close to the lord's chambers causes the cellar below Kalrathia to load, which has some items in it that causes a savegame crash (as KillerGremal proposed in one of his comments)
- Replaced the Aranna Legacy Alpha u with a previous version with a previous version (alpha g) to see if it works
- Noticed that if you talk to the Lord after initiating the "Kill the Dark Wizards"-quest, it causes the "free kalrathia from the morden"-quest to restart (with some of the morden even respawning in the town!). So I finished the free kalrathia quest a second time and tried to kill the wizards after (I thought this would put the quests on the right path again) but didn't work
- Killed the Dark Wizards without the Aranna legacy Mod, saved and put the mod back in

I'm running out of ideas but I really want to continue playing. Has anyone successfully continued the quest?

hi there. so i played this mod for like 50-60 hours completed all the quests and everything and got also to the point with "talk to Lord Kalrathia".
its really frustrating now i cant get past this point.
i tried everything possible all day yesterday but cant find a solution for this annoying part. i cant even run the game without the mod now because the game crashes when i load my save.
i only used "ArannaLegacy-Alpha3u" , "StorageVault20x25-Beta5a" and "TextSizeIncreased-Alpha4"
when i try to run the game without legacy i get this message : "exception detected" then it loads for view seconds and crashes
would be really really nice if anyone who also had this or a similar problem can post a fix or solution

There was actually a post-fix available since some time, but its post dropped down meanwhile (so I've added the links on top too).

 
I will update the entire mod soon, but first I have a tricky examen to pass in October... Puzzled

i searched alot here but maybe overseen the post. thank you very much for the fix it worked instantly. now i can hopefully complete the game with this lovely mod Smile

ok so now in chapter 6 theres another problem. one of the platforms is not going up and so i cant go over them. did it 3 times already with watched cutscenes and with scipped cutscenes doesnt matter.
