Hotfix Mod / Aranna Legacy Mod

I hope nobody has something against when i'm opening here a thread about the Hotfix Mod resp. Aranna Legacy Mod, but GPG's garage forum has widely lost its clearness and reliability due the flood of spam there.
Sad

So this thread here is rather intended to catch (rescue?) all GPG 'fugitives' than to start a new modding offensive. So many years have passed since the game was released and personal priorities have changed since then partially too - however, for the time being smaller bugs or lacks (probably) still will be fixed.

Mod download:

Hotfix Mod, Beta 5p (22.3MB, for DS2 base version, ReadMe)

Aranna Legacy Mod, Alpha 4a (25.5MB, for DS2 Broken World addon, ReadMe)

Note maybe:
- The Aranna Legacy mod is basically the same as the Hotfix mod, but the Aranna Legacy mod
contains some additional fixes and tunings specially for the Broken World addon (v2.3/BW).
- If you don't like to read the entire ReadMe file right now, there's also a shorter overview online.

Alright, so I did a little bit of file experimenting today. I decided to combine Aranna Legacy and Monster Level Adjustment together for the hell of it. I took out the duplicate files from Aranna Legacy. I also fixed what IceLancer was trying to accomplish with restoring the blue dots on the radar map; he removed one file, I removed the parts in the other files that he missed (maintaining the code that had nothing to do with the blue-dot of course.) My original intention was to try and fix the objects that showed up as green dots on the map/radar, but I couldn't figure it out, so I just got rid of the hidden blue-dot feature all together.
Anyway, here's the combined mods: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wtv1j3jrdfs6vss/MLA-AL.zip?dl=0

I'm trying to figure out how to remove the drinking animation from Aranna Legacy as well. Without Aranna Legacy, there is no drinking animation so it's a little easier to maneuver in the game without halting in the middle of a battle. In a test, I removed job_drink.skrit from world\ai\jobs\common thinking that would do the trick, but it didn't, in fact the drinking animation seemed to not glitch up like it used to after removing it (one of the air walk phenomenons.) What else could be linked to this drinking animation?

One thing I'm working on other than that is trying to fix the issue where the hero has no voice when this mod and DS1_Legendary_Mod_VoiceSet_Beta_3.ds2res is installed, I believe Drevin and Deru is affected by this as well. The shared directory is world\contentdb\templates\actors\good, however I couldn't seem to solve the problem, at least, not yet.

@DrakeIsGod: Hm, why do try to combine the Aranna Legacy mod and the Monster Level Adjustment mod? They exist since 2006 shoulder to shoulder without significant conflicts... Puzzled

Of you don't like the drinking animations as DS1 it already had, then you better should focus your engagement on reading the readme file. Hint: keyword 'potion_drink_mode' may help a lot. Wink

The support for the VoiceSet mod will be added soon, when exactly I can't say. Not this weekend I think but it's definitely on the list.
About the blue/green dots (and their partial magic-find dependancy) please see my recent post about this subject.

By the way, since a Wednesday Beta 5k of the Level Adjustment mod is online. Do you have it already?
Actually there are only some things inside now that will possibly make Iryan a bit more happy. Besides of this, if you think Beta 5j was incompatible, Beta 5k will it be too.

lol I'm not sure why I combined the two, I guess I mainly did it because I wanted to see if I could. About the drinking animation, that does help.. I almost forgot about the ReadMe lol..it's kinda hard to get to sometimes. Sorry about taking the hidden blue-dot feature out, I just liked it better without the feature.
And I didn't know beta 5k of MLA was out, I have it now of course. I'm sorry if I kind of pissed you off with this, I didn't really think before I posted. I really admire your work KillerGremal

I try this Hotfix mod and that is INSANE (almost instant kill) 7:11 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dFJVE5_puM

@Legosp: Nice to see that you have fun...
...although, I'm not really certain if all formulas used completely support such high levels.

Better make an additional backup here and then. Wink

Hello KillerGremal

I notice that here the latest version of the mod that I can download is R however on your website DungeonSiegeII - Outpost it shows as version V however it can not be downloaded. Can you tell me which one is the version I should be using and if it is Version V can you tell me what I am doing wrong that prevents me from downloading it?

Thank You

@Shadow Watcher: I'm not sure which site you actually refer to, however Alpha 3r is up to date.
Just left-click on the link above (but better don't use 'Save As', or it may need to rename it then).

Thank you Drake I fixed the sidebar Project sites -- Dungeon Siege II - Outpost so that it is no longer linked to http://dungeonsiege2.net/ds2fun/ but instead linked to http://ds2.bplaced.net/

@KillerGermal
I believe that Shadow Watcher was trying to get the Aranna Legacy Mod from the http://dungeonsiege2.net/ds2fun/ in the projects sites of the left side bar. I have corrected this so that now when people click on Dungeon Siege II Outpost on the left sidebar they are taken to http://ds2.bplaced.net/ I hope this is okay with you.

Indeed, the state of http://dungeonsiege2.net/ds2fun/mods/ is quite comatose - sadly. Sad
Right now however I have no access, I just hope it's a temporal matter...

Guys, since I got bored of D3 and decided to play DS2 with my friend for a hundreth time... I'm here again :P

I noticed something that may relate to those FPS problems.

WHen I run f00bar 2000 (audio player) with bitperfect on via plugins (if you don't know what that is - basically a method to send unchanged sound from source to soundcard. Windows has built-in ampling, many people don't even realize that), I get 3-8 fps.

Could that be a source of FPS drops - sound processing in the game?
Worth checking I guess.

I run AAA productions in 60fps (geforce 760 GTX) and DS2 still coughs a lot and drops to 30 fps at times, I know the code basically is a total mess but can we think of anything to help it?

I'm not familiar with your hardware/software setup, but perhaps you should check once the TaskMananger where the CPU load goes.
Just as test, disable once your audio software and sound chip/card if you think it has some impact.

However let me know if you note a significant FPS difference when running the game with the mod and when running DS2 without it.

I'm getting a 404 Not Found message for Aranna Legacy. Both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Edit: Very very very very very persistent retries eventually led to Internet Explorer opening up a download window and showing that the mod was indeed downloading, although I did keep getting 404's. Not sure if it was just an issue with me, my laptop, my internet, the server, or what. If I'm the only one experiencing this, obviously then it isn't a big deal because I did eventually get the mod. T'was weird though.

Did you use the link on the left of the home page here under project sites Dungeon Siege II - Outpost. Killer's main site's service provider has not fixed things. so for the present use the link I noted in this post to get to his mods.

Elf

I too am having the 404 error. And no matter how persistent, the darned thing keeps popping up. I've tried the link through the Project Site (Dungeon Siege II- Outpost), the link at the top of the forum threat, and the link in the creator's signature. All result in the same error. The actual link in each instance is

http://homepage.hispeed.ch/audio/box/Mod-Hotfix-Beta5f.ds2res

I notice that the version on this link is listed as Beta5f. However, earlier in this threat I noticed that we are slightly higher. What is the correct version, and is the hyperlink the same, regardless of the version itself (the above link). I'll keep trying the link occasionally to see if I can persist through the 404 error.

As I stated in the previous post you need to use the Link under Project Sites Dungeon Siege Outpost to get to KillerGremal's mod for the present time.
Here is a direct link to the hotfix mod http://homepage.hispeed.ch/audio/box/Mod-Hotfix-Beta5f.ds2res I just tested it and it worked with Internet Explorer, Opera, google chrome and Firefox.

Very odd. I once again tried through both the Project sites link (on the left side of the siegetheday webpage under Project sites right above Dungeon Raider link), pulled up the mod itself from the list (also shows the forum link and readme link, both of which work fine) , and clicked it with the exact same error message on both Chrome and IE. The link you posted in your reply was the same I had pasted to my previous post, and had the same error as all others. I suppose I'll just keep being "persistent" and hope that it works after awhile. Thanks for trying!

Hello Ryan click on your inbox I left you a message

Playing through the Dungeon Siege 2 Campaign I've noticed that all of the buttons, all of them (Not Levers, and not buttons added in from the Legendary mod maps.. or at least, not that I've seen yet), are misplaced. This means I cannot reach them without some fancy camera maneuvering. Even then, there are some I cannot reach at all. (E.g, The Tomb of Agarrus, rendering it unable to complete) Buttons like the one after facing the first Dark Wizard to raise you up into snowbrook valley are particularly hard to find through the walls.

I've narrowed it down to the Aranna Legacy mod by uninstalling the Legendary mod, but other than that I am not sure what could be affecting it.

I am using;
6slots
BW_partyof6
AncientGifts-BETA-1C
BWConversationFreedom
BW-More_Hair_PlusV4
Drianjul_Don't_You_Cry
Legenday Mod Stuffs
BrokenWolrd-ArannaLegacy-Alpha3r
Pet-WarHound-Beta10o
More_Hair_Utraean_addon
RingRemoval
Legendary_Mod_VoiceSet
Mod_VoiceSet_Beta_4
(Voicesets don't work unless in the DS2 Resources Folder, nod the DS2 BW Folder)
Mod_BW_Playable_Utraeans

The Legendary Mod doesn't seem to cause this, though at first I figured it could be some kind of incompatibility between Aranna Legacy and Legendary Mod as I thought it'd be easy for something like that to go under the radar, as I would assume most people testing the Legendary Mod aren't spending much time at all in the DS2 Campaign. But then upon removing the Legendary Mod I found the buttons were still misplaced.

And, before you ask, yes, I tried removing the Aranna Legacy mod. But DS2 Doesn't seem to want to work at all then, so that's not going to work unfortunately.

Let me know if I made a simple mistake or if you need any other information.

Cheers!

EDIT: So I tried removing the Aranna Legacy mod again and- aha! It worked. Not sure what was different this time, but hey, there you go. However, the buttons are still misplaced. So now I'm at a loss, but that also means that perhaps this discussion doesn't belong in this forum. I might make another topic for this, that is unless I don't need to. If there is a fix for this that you know of already, send me a PM? Thanks.

Not exactly sure where this post should go Raymus
It would be useful to know first which mods are in your DS2 resources folder and which are in your Broken World folder?
Are you playing with the DS2 Allsaves or the Broken World Allsaves?
The misplaced button issue has been talked about in some detail in the Legendary Mod Thread, The Broken World Adepts Thread, and verious locations.
It has also been noted in threads specific to the various third party maps that where converted from DS1 those that are parts of the legendary mod and those that are not but work with the legendary mod. We the testers spend time in DS2 and Broken World Maps when changes to the Major mods on the site here might change or modify how the original maps might work.
The following Mods are not necessary if you have the legendary mod installed. Note the two mods both do the same thing. So remove them.
6slots
BW_partyof6
There are some conflicts that exist between the legendary mod and More Hair Plus having to do with the algorithms which allow your party to advance to level 500 so remove the following.

BW-More_Hair_PlusV4
More_Hair_Utraean_addon

Now what of the mods you posted are in your DS2 resources folder and which are in your broken world resources folder. As several need to be in the DS2 resources folder to function correctly and others that must be in the broken world folder. Doing otherwise can cause bazaar and strange problems like buttons being out of place. It would also be useful to know what versions each file in the legendary mod has. Also the versions of each of the mods you listed. The only one I can be sure of is More hair plus as the version number is in the name. Thanks

Well, this sound as logical as if you see two persons leaving a bank after a robbery, and since the 1st person didn't have the money, you conclude that the 2nd person must be the theft.
But what if more than two persons visited the bank recently?
...so a counter-check could be useful sometimes. Wink

However since lever misplacements are a known matter in context with the DS1 maps in DS2, a possible reason could be the object tank imported form DS1, which name this file has and how the addon is assigning priorities to the resource files.

As file location prefer the 'resources' folder of v2.2, and not the one from the addon (skip this if you installed both in the same directory).
As file name for the object tank I suggest 'Objects_DS1.ds2res' - simply for the reason that it never caused problems with me (and since the priority of a tank may vary depending on its file name).
Then the levers should be placed at the intended place again.

Related to the Aranna Legacy mod, there may be some minor conflicts or redundancies with the other mods you are using.

For example 6slots or BW_partyof6 you most probably don't need. Also with the Aranna Legacy mod you can by the 5th + 6th slot independing on mercenary/veteran/elite mode.

At least when playing on GPG's maps, BWConversationFreedom is redundant and may even cause a little animation flaw. Generally the corrsponding matter is already faced in the flick/routine requesting these conversations, they will not start as long as the talker is fighting or as long as enemies are nearby.

Concerning the other mods I can't say anything, a content comparision would be needed first.

I've removed 6slots and partyof6 from my Resources folder.

In DS2 Resources Folder;

DS1_Legendary_Mod_VoiceSet Beta 3
DS2_Mod_VoiceSet Beta 3

In DS2BW Folder;

AncientGifts Beta 1C
Drianjul_Don't_You_Cry -Latest Version
Legendary Mod Beta30
Mod-BrokenWold-ArannaLegacy Alpha3r
Mod-Pet-KohlBeast Beta2
Mod-Pet-WarHound Beta1
RingRemoval
DS1_Mod_BW_Playable_Utraeans

The Object Tank is properly labeled Objects_DS1.ds2res.
I am using DS2 BW Allsaves.
Regarding the MoreHair mod, I realise the conflicts but I am reluctant to remove it as it adds quite a bit of options. Although I did indeed notice that the armors and things added by the mod weren't appearing. Not all the hairs had the black hair option like in an earlier version, either. So, two things, are the incompatibilities game-breaking or even that noticable with the Aranna Legacy or Hotfix mod? Because I've yet to notice any issue besides this dastardly button problem. If the incompatibilities ARE going to cause issues down the road, then IS there an older version of MoreHairs that IS compatible?

EDIT: I was mistaken, the armors DO appear, I just had assumed they were added in by the Aranna Legacy mod.

Regards,
Raymus.

Move all the components of the Legendary Mod to your DS2 resources folder. Remember that Broken World reads both the resource folders of DS2 and BW, I have had weird problems when putting the Legendary Mod into the Broken World resources folder for testing last year. You may also wish to update your Legendary Mod Files as you are somewhat out of date. Now the more hair plus mod can and does cause unexpected game crashes when you allow characters to get above level 120 and you have a party of two or more if you have the legendary mod installed. You can get spells that are a part of the more hair plus mod by using BW Spells Reloaded http://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/2237 You can also use the armor mods by PhoeniX/Volkan to pick up the armor.

It seems is essential actually, not just optional.

So please ensure that this file is inside the original DS2 'resources' folder.
Also check that there isn't possibly another copy of this file in the 'resources' folder of the addon.

That is a rather silly mistake on my part, I think.
Sure enough, moving the Legendary Mod to the DS2 Resources folder put the buttons back in place. Mace of Agarrus Quest completed, going to go back to do some stuff I'd missed.
If I may, for future reference, might I suggest a specific note saying something like "Install the files to your Dungeon Siege 2 Resources folder, NOT your Broken World folder!" be included under the installer notes section on the forum for it? Because it isn't there now, and if it WAS stated elsewhere, I missed it.

Regarding MoreHairs, I did remove it (Luckily the black hair textures never appeared for male human hairs, else I'dve used it and upon needing to remove this mod my character's hair would be replaced by a blog of miscolor. I JUST made it to Kalrathia, I'd hate to have such a blemish appear.) but in the character creation screen, the 'slots' for the hairs and skins are still there. For example, when scrolling to Taar's hairstyle on the Dryad race, you'll see the shape of her hair but then all screwed up textures. Odd. But no biggy. Thanks for warning me, nonetheless. Will still see if I can get an older version that DOESN'T alter leveling and then add the armors from the other mod. But that's the end of this discussion, thanks for the help!

I'm sorry for blaming you, Aranna Legacy. Wouldst thou ever forgive me? D:

Ok, I have Aranna Legacy and all files from the DS1 Legendary mod (which I'll play later). I just started a new game in the original DS2 map, and I just saved the Dryads.

After the dialog with Celia I go to haku cave, and I realize a friend is helping me. It's Jera! I saw the Morden killing her, and now she's alive and she's following Lothar with the "a friend (Lothar)" buff! What's going on?!?

EDIT: I noticed her buff was expiring, as opposite to the Rune of Might ally, and after quitting and reloading she's gone.

Well, not everything that is knocked down is killed - and even it so, dead actors can be resurrected sometimes.
So it's always a good idea to have a healing spell and a resurrection scroll with you. Also Warden Celia would
appreciate it, if she not had to regret the death of her Dryad sister.

She only will assist you some time by intention, actually her job is it to guard the Dryad outpost.
Perhaps you can meet her there once again. Wink

So this is an intended addition... I find it's great! Have you placed more temporary allies?

Also: why the blood assassin skill "Hemorrhage" require "Living Death"? They are on 2 different branches of the skill tree.
Same with fists of stone skill "Groundshaker" which require "Soul of Protection" which is on a different branch.

Finally: I saw a BW mod which add a skill tree to support to the dual class Fighter + Combat mage. What about including that mod and adding a skill tree to support the remaining dual class Ranged + Nature mage?

I found a bug:
In the quest "A family heirloom (part 2)", where you need to locate the demon, a bug prevent the demon from being released. This is what I've done:

1) I started the "A family heirloom (part 1)" quest and obtained the heirloom, but I forgot to complete the quest
2) Later in the game, I found the demon entrance, and I found nothing but a door I can't open (a Vai'kesh magic or something prevent me from opening that door) and an empty cristal inside the prison.
3) I completed the "A family heirloom (part 1)" quest and gave the sword to Thestrin.
4) I talked to Athelas in Aman'lu and started the "A family heirloom (part 2)" quest.

Nothing happens when I enter the demon sanctuary. I can enter, exit, walk around, save, exit and reload... nothing, the cutscene where Thestrin release the demon doesn't trigger, the prison door is still locked, there's no demon inside the crystal, and I can't complete the quest, despite the radar show a quest marker on the crystal.

I tried restoring a save from before finding the sanctuary, and I started the second part of the quest (so the order changed to 1,3,4,2) but still I get the same bug.

EDIT: Another test: I decided to keep the sword and release the demon myself, but still that door is locked with a vai'kesh glyph and I can't open it. (And still, the crystal is empty, with no demon inside)
