Hotfix Mod / Aranna Legacy Mod

I hope nobody has something against when i'm opening here a thread about the Hotfix Mod resp. Aranna Legacy Mod, but GPG's garage forum has widely lost its clearness and reliability due the flood of spam there.

So this thread here is rather intended to catch (rescue?) all GPG 'fugitives' than to start a new modding offensive. So many years have passed since the game was released and personal priorities have changed since then partially too - however, for the time being smaller bugs or lacks (probably) still will be fixed.

Note maybe:
- The Aranna Legacy mod is basically the same as the Hotfix mod, but the Aranna Legacy mod
  contains some additional fixes and tunings specially for the Broken World addon (v2.3/BW).
- If you don't like to read the entire ReadMe file right now, there's also a shorter overview online.

No Problem. Now that Finala(primary Combat mage) has a second spellbook and has progressed in Nature magic(secondary class) she has mantled the tasks Taar performs when Taar isn't in the party.

My read of the casting "AI" differs but it is workable if the Combat mage is also 6th level Nature Mage which will allow manual casting WotB on self. Other party members cast job get trapped from exercising the WotB on mages. Probably something done to get WoM applied, regardless of mages selected weapon, ignorant of WoM application, but protective of the 3 party buff limit.

On second thought, the convoluted restrictions have to have been interjected to handle V2.2 inability to dismiss buffs. In any case much seems halfed-baked for some future inclusive scripting involving pets and special spells. I am removing much of the convoluted scripting thus diverge post A3I mod. Yeah, no more newbie feedback.

Have you been able to duplicate the fluctuating strength, dexterity and intelligence issue?
I'm sure it will be a tough cookie to bit once you find it. Could take months to repair the damaged dental work. :fear:

Since yesterday there's a new version of Hotfix and Aranna Legacy mod:

Updates:

  • Some 'recipe items' (= items produced by enchantment recipes) rebalanced, also all recipe items will become stronger now the more often you will find the corresponding recipe, and each sequel drop of a recipe will be rewarded with a rare item. Producing however a recipe item without the corresponding recipe will result in a item of lower quality.
  • Magical bonus 'of Granite' lowered/fixed (did the same as 'of Obsidian').
  • As balance fix to upgrade the 'Fast Recovery' skill an actor with this skill will stand up so fast after the consciouslessness that he is going to damage nearby enemies by the same amount of life points as he will be healed by the skill. For the actor himself the final heal amount is partially increased now by his life regeneration capability.
  • As little balance fix the 'Fist Aid' skill will prevent the actor from dying, not however from being knocked out and becoming consciousless. This skill also will give your hero an extreme smell of formaldehyd so the chance is very low that monsters will start to eat him up while he is laying motionlessly on the ground.
  • As balance fix the damage and radius of 'Tremor' skill increased by 20-30%.
  • Regeneraating emanation of the Naiad pets rebalanced and health regeneration *rate* bonus set to +150% (so actor's navtive regeneration and his bonuses will be multiplied now by 2.5 instead of 3.0).
  • At Kalrathia 'Nora the Nature Mage' can be hired now after the 'Nexus' quest.
  • Work-around added to avoid that Drovan may freeze when he gets hired.
  • New ini option 'power_rebalance = #' added to specify a percentage (1-100) that increases the power damage against bosses on one hand, while decreasing the power damage against normal monsters on the other hand.
  • Ini options 'item_effect_mode' and 'spear_effect_left' merged and carried over into 'weapon_effect_mode = #', where 0 for # means no weapon effects and no damage impact effects, 1 just disables damage impact effects, 2 will turn off effects on projectiles, 3 (default) for no changes, 4 will show effect on spears in left hand too. Damage impact effects also can be disabled by the negative value of the corresponding number (add a minus sign).
  • Ini option 'pet_resize' added that allows you to set custom sizes for pets, for example 'pet_resize = light_naiad:0.7,fire_elemental:1.1' (without quotes) would make all Light Naiads notably smaller while Fire Elementals a little bit larger.

Hi, i just started playing dungeon siege 2 (i played it when it was released), i only have the original game without the expansion, version 2.2 I installed your hotfix mod and Storage Vault Mod 20x25, Beta 5. My ini setting looks like this :

everything works perfectly, i have 60 fps all the time even fully zoomed ( i also use All*Saves v2 for DS2 v2.2 )

now for the bug, after the first teleporter when you meet the dryad and the cut scene pops in she is supposed to die or almost die but the cut scene never ends, the haku and the dryan are just fighting forever and if i hit escape the game just goes black and i cant do anything. I tried to find a solution on the internet but didnt find anything anywhere.

I know exactly what you're talking about as I struck a similar problem in another area with another mod. There it was the first fight outside of Eirulan when 3 morden were suppose to kill Jera in a NIS cutscene. In this case Jera actually defeated the 3 morden instead and the cutscene just continued with her standing there. Attempting to hit escape just causes the screen to go black as you described in your situation.

I fixed that problem by adjusting the flick associated with the fight. Maybe the solution here is similar? Though it is strange that no previous bugs like this has been reported with Aranna Legacy. Have you tried again from a saved game? Perhaps it's just a glitch and won't happen again?

This was with DS2 and no mods at all installed. I would try to skip past various NIS by pressing escape. For example at the temple on the beach after Dervin gets killed and the shield part appears. Pressing Escape there will always give me a black screen and no way out. The third morden tower will also do that to me if I do anything while the tower explodes does not happen on the other towers. So this problem might not be mod related. Could be something in either the hardware setup of the computer or the Game Engine itself.

I totally understand your pain Gokhuchy as I have encountered the exact same issue when running other mods. To find where the problem is Could you please give us.
1. a list of the mods you have installed other than Aranna Legacy if any.
2. The exact version of the game you have installed.
3. What version of Ely's All Saves or Succubus Manager.
4. Version of OS you have installed (like windows xp service pack 3)
5. The configuration of your computer. I know the hardware is a remote possibility but it could be useful (hardware tech speaking here)

In addition to bare_elf's list offer the version of Arranna Legacy(beta4?) mod since there have been so many revisions of late.

You might try loading a recent save before the encounter using the original DS2.EXE shortcut edited for your screen resolution avoiding any conflicts with the AllSaves. You don't need AllSaves except when changing mod configurations or for the camera angle stuff.

You can find all that in my first post except i have windows 7 sp 1 64bit and i DONT play in compatibility mode and the game is working totally great except this issue. Playing the game in compatibility mode doesnt solve it and my spec is: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2,40GHz 2,40GHz

i have a laptop with 2 graphic cards main is NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M but with this card the game crashes about 3 secs after i open it so i had to prohibit it in device manager so the game needs to use the other card which is Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. With this card i have no crash issue.

A read thru of beta4y didn't reveal any changes to Morain encounter. Unlase the later changes in the Dryad hospital effected her.

If eliminating any AllSave issue didn't work then you can try lowering game speed from 150 to 100, just in case the kill blow isn't registering in time/synchronicity.

thus ends my feebleminded attempt. KG will have a better analyst.

So few updates: i tried installing the game on my old pc with windows xp, i installed the same modes and same settings and same save and the bug happends there too. So i went on my laptop and tried lowering game speed to 100 and that didnt help, so i removed all the mods from my game and started a new char and just ran to the spot and it worked no bug. That leads me to believe that there must be something wrong with the mod. Can someone please send me an older version of the mode so i can try if that works ?

ok, so i copied the download link: http://ds2fun.ds.funpic.de/box/Mod-Hotfix-Beta4y.ds2res.txt and replaced the y with w and downloaded the Beta4w version and there is no bug there so its probably the y version problem might be the x version also i didnt try that

Also with me the fight did never end. No idea why, and I've only tried it once so far, but this shouldn't happen.

yeah it must be some change between the w and y version because it the w version there is no bug

The recent fix to prevent damage (by curses for example) while being invulnerable (by Invulnerability power usually) also prevents invulnerable NPCs form being damaged, but these NPCs need to be damaged with zero damage to make some quest scripts/flicks go on (with help of the incoming damage event). :o

It's a critical oddity so it seems there will be a new mod release soon.

New versions Beta 4z and Alpha 3L are online now to fix the NIS with the never-ending combat.
 

I have a big problem:
With the new version, my entire party freeze!!
It's been a while I didn't play DS2 and I've upgraded from Aranna Legacy alpha 3H to alpha 3L.

I've loaded the game, go to the DS2 map to rescue Nora and add her to my party, go to the BW map, I encounter some enemies, then...

...in the middle of combat, one at once, my party freeze permanently (completely immobile, the animation doesn't play anymore, one of them freeze in a funny "run stance").
I only survived because summons seems to be "immune" to this bug and survived to the hordes of enemies.

Anyway I can't find a way to "reset" their animation.
They don't fight, move, and not even breath anymore, (clicking anywhere doesn't produce any effect) so I close the game.

Maybe it's something about the recent fixes to NIS? Or maybe Nora has a role in this bug?

Alpha3i seems stable through Mines of Kaderak before Vix's secondary quest.
I havnt gotten past that fork in the mines as Im sidetracked with something else.
Just a minor glitch with hiring Drovan(workaround was save and reload) but you seem to be past that point.
Nora wont be available for hiring in A3i, nor would I recommend using A3i with Nora in your saves so not much help am I.

Thanks for the reports, I didn't notice this matter most probably because auto-attack (see game options) was activated while 'party_selection_key' didn't have an assignment anymore (or was zero) during the tests. Puzzled

However that's also what I'm recommending currently as temporary work-around. Of course I'm looking for a fix.

I get the same bug, however it is more random. A single character might freeze after some time. Re-equipping armor creates some glitched textures, too. However, the frozen characters can be damaged until they are unconscious, in which case they are fixed again.

@kyriezolo: Thanks for your (painful) work-around. Wink

How far the recently revised handling of unconsciousness has a (positive) impact I can't say at the moment.
Minor lacks may have made a contribution to this bug, however I'm working a work-around and will check this.

Thanks for the update! My friend and I just pulled Dungeon Siege 2:BW out of the game closet again to play, but we are experiencing the freezes being mentioned in the last few posts.

I have looked for the options you are referring to, but I can't seem to find them; perhaps because I haven't played in forever.

Would you be able to elaborate on this workaround with more specific instructions?

A new mod release is online.
There are several minor content/code updates, finally fixing the freezing bug for your party members.

 

@dadealeus: Auto-Attack (so you only have to select an enemy once) is part of the official game options (press ESC in-game).
However the the new release it shouldn't matter whether it's activated or not.
 

I have some ideas:
1) Further expand the "other" stats pop-up to show also health/mana stole every hit, health/mana restore every hit, damage reflected, damage goes to mana, bonus to gold dropped, the current speed, the critical hit chance/damage, the increase nature/combat damage, healing effectiveness, summon damage, and in another section, all "chance on hit" effect both from weapon and all armors.

2) Add some bad effects to armor and weapon: sometimes an armor will have a "Decrease resistance by X", "Decrease stat/skill by X", "Decrease chance/damage for critical hit by X" an so on. If an item has one (or more of these) then his good effects are stronger.

3) Add a diminishing return to resistances/weakness, so if I have 2 item with "20% fire resistance" and another with "15% fire resistance", the total fire damage will be:
100 - 20% = 80%
80 - 15% = 68% (calculated on 80, not 100)
68 - 15% ~= 58% (calculated on 68, not 100)
Adding a "25% fire weakness" will give:
58 + 25% ~= 72%

Finally, I have a question:
Do the "Reflect damage" effect act also like a resistance?
I mean: "20% reflect damage" means: "take 80% damage and 20% goes to attacker"?

i still have little problems with freezing Char. But only in ONE situation. Every time if my char activates the power "engergy orb", i can see the anitmation of the power, but the char can´t move. Then if the animation is gone, the char still can´t move. About half a minute later the animation of the orbs comes the second time, and THEN i can move. I activate the orbs only ONE time. I don´t know why the animation comes two times.

My above explanation was not complete. This "Monsterlag" isn´t only by Energy Orb. Aetherblast an Gravity Stone are also have this 30 to 40 second "Freezes". But Provoke from my Tank performes very well.

Hey Killer; thanks for the update! It fixed almost all the issues I was having with freezing characters in single-player.

In multi-player, however, some of the characters are sort of unresponsive. I'll try to detail what I mean:

I was only playing with myself and my friend, so I don't know if this extends into additional players, but the client's party members do not follow the main character around unless they are set to mirror mode. The host's party members work fine, but whoever joins the game seems to have trouble.

I hosted the first game and my friend joined with his 3 characters, and only his main character would move unless he hit the 'regroup' key or set them to mirror mode. So, we switched and he hosted, but then my other two characters did the same thing while his worked fine.

Additionally, even though you can call your other characters to you with the re-group command... sometimes they will immediately turn around and run back to where they previously were after they reach you. -and if they DO stay after they reach you, they won't auto-attack enemies if set to rampage mode.

Mirror mode seems to work without issue though.

Anyway, thanks again for all your hard work! You breathe new life into an awesome game! Let me know if you need more information.

Well since KillerGremal is the creator of the mods I am quite sure he has all the various versions of the mod. You could ask him when he drops in or check out his site. We have the most current version here.
