This mod allows players the opportunity to play Kingdom of Ehb, Utraean Peninsula, Legends of Aranna and Yesterhaven from the original Dungeon Siege in Dungeon Siege 2 and it's expansion, with all the benefits that provides. Think of it as more of a remastered version of the original Dungeon Siege than a mere port to a newer engine.

The mod is based on Killergremal's original work on the Utraean Peninsula, Kingdom of Ehb and Yesterhaven, found at this thread; https://siegetheday.org/?q=node/1330

Elys All*Saves or Elys' Succubus Manager is recommended to play the mod, which most users of this site probably already use. However either use v1 of All*Saves or turn off the seefar option in the launcher as the mod incorporates seefar moods directly in the maps for better balance without the glitches and distortions caused by using a too high a level of seefar in the launcher. Version 1 of Elys All*Saves is distributed in the installer version in original DS2 (v2.2), Broken World (v2.3) and Steam versions.

The most frustrating is the inaccessible book in the hidden room (wall to break) of the sunken subterran after the bonepickers cabins !

p.s: There's a LOA functionnality I regret... the average dammage dealt per 10 seconds for weapons and spells, I have never understood why it haven't been kepts In Dungeon Siege 2, because this functionnality is very handy in fact in DS1/LOA !

could you make a screen shot?

Elf

I am too far to make a screenshot, but the book is on the only table of the first room of the secret place, where a lever give access to another lever (this last one open the wall to a secret room nearby)!

I have finished kingdom of ehb and began legends of aranna, and it works this time !

Hope there will be "return to arhok" someday, and possibly "Throne of agony" (not going to buy a psp for only one game) !

I know the area well, we had a lot of problems getting it to work, Phoenix helped me a lot with this one.

So I'll add it onto the todo list for the next revision of the mod.

What an amazing development Iryan! I'm impressed, I definitely have to check this out when I get the chance.

Hello people Can someone please upload it your save? Or if you know where I could download high lvl haracter (80+lvl} save.
I reinstall my windows, and all my 122lvl character is are gone.

sry... doubt anyone can help you... well that is your fault... u shud have backed up ur my docs folder before u reinstalled/reformatted. it doesnt take much to backup ur my docs folder into a usb thumbdrive or other form of external storage.

i suggest u get a fast exp cheat mod or a fast lvling cheat mod instead to get back to lvl 122.

Or exist mod who unlock veteran and elite mode?

Legosp wrote:

No there is not a mod to unlock Veteran and Elite Modes. At present there is no plan to do so either.
To save your parties in the future do what I do. After every game make a copy of your saved games to a flash drive, so in case your system dies you have a back-up. I also from time to time backup my resource and map folders from DS1, LoA, DS2 and Broken World. I have every mod I have ever used or plan to use on at least one external Hard Drive. Just start over this time as it does not take very long to get your party to the level you wish. For example you can take your party into a map like "My Test World" by sharkhull and fight the harpy queen. You can not kill her and she can not easily kill you and you can build up a party to level 100 in all skills in less time that it takes to make a key lime pie. Here is the link.

Shock woooow thanks, this helped me seriously, really thanks.

finished testing LOA , there are more unaccessible chest (most are concentrated in Khmetekh tower) and mobs "Rusted Automaton" and "Automaton Mech" doesn't attack at all although they are animated such way !

Thanks for the feedback. I'll add this to my to-do-list for LOA when I start work on updating it. I'm currently updating Kingdom of Ehb concurrently with testing the mod DS2BW Adepts on the DS1 Maps (converting all characters to anime models).

The inaccessible chests are due to the way DS2 handles Use Points compared to DS1. They need to be manually moved a little further away from the chests in Siege Editor to work. Probably the bounding volume of chests in DS2 is larger than in DS1 and so encompass the Use Points within them and prevent them from working. Sadly there's no references to bounding volumes for chests anywhere along the template inheritance chain. So must be a subtle change within the engine, just enough to effect some chests.

I'll also check the templates for those Automatons as some have been set to not attack as part of scripting which doesn't work for various reasons. Some I have already fixed but some I have missed.

We have the prooves here that, compared to DS1, DS2 engine is barely improved in every domains !
DS3 is kinda different, but don't know if someone have ever managed to mod it !

Barely improved is probably a little harsh as the engine is significantly enhanced over the original in every way. Things like the way quests are handled, teleporter system, improved model quality, minimap, quest and shop icons, scripting through flick, the list is quite extensive.

Still it is only an enhanced engine as you can see with how much DS1 components still work in DS2. And I know at least some DS2 items can be backward converted to run in DS1 as Volkon (Phoenix) has done it with the DS2 shields for LOA mod. Some things seem more limited in DS2 though as it's harder making skins for heroes and the FX system from DS1 has been scrapped and replaced by flick support which means making effects for spells is a lot harder so there's correspondingly a lot less spells in DS2 than DS1 (most spells are variations of a single base broken down to lesser, normal, greater and master). The same system is used for armor and weapons, there's less variation in DS2 than in DS1 though it doesn't seem that way.

DS3 as you say is highly unmoddable. There's a camera mod that changes the camera angle to be less restrictive and some mods that change the loot table so that more loot drops but that's it as no Editor has every been released and never will. Industrious modders have managed how to work out extracting the resources from the OAF files DS3 uses instead of ds2res files but there's little you can do with them as all logic related information seems stored in dlls. Quite possible the graphics of some things could be changed if someone was interested enough but nobody is. The text can be changed as well and that's why this limited modding is even done so to make localizations of DS3 for the chinese language as apparently it was never released there.

ds3 != ds and is not regarded as being part of the ds series... nuff said.

DS3 is the clumsy trial of OBSIDIAN to conciliate common OBSIDIANS'S RPG fans and common DUNGEON SIEGE fans, so you see where is the problem...

Yes and in the process alienates everyone. Neither party would be happy. It was just a clumsy attempt to milk a well known license to market something completely difference. Dungeon Siege 3 could have well be called Obsidian Trial 10 and nobody would be the wiser.

I have enjoyed some of their games though, SWKOTOR- The Sith Lords is a favourite of mind despite about 1/3 of the game having to be cut due to time constraints, Neverwinter Nights 2 and Fallout: New Vegas though none are original IPs.

The problem with letting Obsidian do it was that they like to tell a good story, and they want it to be their story, not yours. The player is supposed to come along for the ride and not interfere too much. That means no modding, no deviation from the plot as laid down. You don't play their games, the games play you. Their fans like that, because it's predictable, and there's comfort in that.

DS was a bit of a hybrid, in that it had a loose story you could improvise around. You had to progress through the map in the right order, as the enemies got stronger along the way. But then there was a second map for multi-player that let you wander in all directions and take your chances, and a toolkit to let you add your own story to the basic plot, and create maps that used just the engine, with all-new content if you wanted to do so. Creating the Halloween Special with Charietto was even more fun than playing it.

I've been playing mostly Oblivion lately, which takes that to the extreme. You can go anywhere at any time, and the enemies match your level. Even more mods than DS, and huge background history to base your own plots upon. A lot of players complain about the levelling and some of the mods try to put the constraints back. But they generally move on once they've "beaten the game" and leave it to us.

Yes I agree about Oblivion, I've probably played it most times apart from the Dungeon Siege series. Never got into Skyrim.

Fallout 3 and Fallout:New Vegas are also very good open world games with extensive modding capabilities and support for anyone who wants a more modern settings.

I'm waiting and hoping that the XLEngine will be complete one day (currently in Alpha) so that Daggerfall will be playable under modern Windows and not look like a mess of pixels. That was a massive game (never beaten it) that allowed the player to travel all around Tamriel (plus the XLEngine supports modding capabilities).

I've played through Daggerfall a few times, using the DosBox installer. It's possible to mod Daggerfall, too, although the tools for that aren't official ones. I added Orcs as a playable race, and added a few quests for the Guild of Prostitutes, but I haven't done much recently.

Off topic and nothing to do with the MapPAck but here's a project that may be of interest to you.

Pity development is so slow as the lone programmer is so busy but it is continuing and hopefully there'll be a fully playable beta by the end of the year.

Blood and Outlaws are also favourites of mine so it's a pity the only game at Beta currently is my least favourite game of the 4 - Dark Forces.

The french ds1 converted files are here:

you can use it for any purposes relating to the mod (like translation)!

Thank you for the work you've put into this. I've yet to download it as rapidshare is so slow and the file is so large so the connection keeps timing out or crashing ( I do have a fast plan with 24 Mbits/sec so the issue is definitely at Rapidshare's end). I'll keep trying though.

It may also pain you to know that I've been working party banters into the mod, so there'll be a lot more conversations in the next beta of the mod. Perhaps though I could also include a disabler mini-mod to disable these for anyone who doesn't like or want them. I like them and think they add to the maps (or wouldn't be putting the effort in to include them) and unlike the ones in DS2 there'll generally be no monsters around to disrupt them once started (don't know what with GPG putting many party banters in combat zones where they'll be interrupted as soon as they're started).

#Update: It's impossible to download from Rapidshare. Leaving the download for 5 hours only had 15% downloaded. So I appreciate the effort put into the language pack but is unobtainable.

You guys are awesome...

Bare_Elf may be able to download it, he managed to do so the last time with the french LOA files

First Gameaux333 I am a girl not a boy. so the correct statement should have been: Bare_Elf may be able to download it, she managed to do so the last time with the french LOA files. I tried to download the file this time but alas I keep getting a "404 error" file not found. Sorry about that. It may need to be uploaded again.

The file is still there and I tried downloading it again but at dial up speeds which Rapidshare throttle downloads at it would take me over 9 hours to download. I have a 24MBit/sec download plan so that's not the issue.

rapidshare is well known for their ridiculous slow downloads. i strongly suggest u reupload it to another file sharing site that is not retarded. like mediafire, 4shared or box.

since that file is almost 1gb in size, i recommend u use 4shared instead as it has a file size limit of 2gb.

Sorry Bare_Elf, but since I know Fantaghiro ("The cave of the golden rose" serie) being male or female is very relative to me ^^ !
