"Bluest Eyes in Texas"
Written by Van Stephenson, Dave Robbins, Tim DuBois
Performed by Nathan Larson and Nina Persson
from the soundtrack for "Boys don't cry"
The lonesome Texas sun was setting slow
In the rear view mirror I watch it glow
I can still see the wind and her golden hair
I closed my eyes for a moment I'm still there
Chorus:
The bluest eyes in Texas are haunting me tonight
Like the stars that fill the midnight sky
Her memory fills my mind
Where did I go wrong,
Did I wait too long or can I make it right
The bluest eyes in Texas are haunting me to night
Another town another hotel room
Another dream that ended way too soon
Left me lonely Waiting for the dawn
Searching for the strength to carry on
Chorus
For every heart you break you pay the price
I can't forget the tears in her blue eyes
Chorus
..a very beautiful song
The Garden Of Jane Delawney - Trees
His words hang in the air
The ground you walk upon
Might as well not be there
Might as well not be there
I'll take you through my dreams
Out into the darkest morning
Past the blood filled streams
Into the garden of Jane Delawney
Into the garden now
Though the rose is fair
Don't pluck it as you pass
For a fire will consume you there
And your eyes will turn to glass
Your eyes will turn to glass
In the willow's shade
Don't lie to thy rest deep?
For its tears of gold and jade
Will drown you as you sleep
Will drown you now
Jane Delawney had her dreams
That she never did discover
For the flow that feeds the stream
Is the life blood of her lover
Is the life blood of her lover
And the purifying beam
Of the sun will shine here never
While the spirit of her dream
In the garden lives forever
Lives forever now

Queen
You're My Best Friend
Ooo. you make me live
whatever this world can give to me
It's you, you're all I see
Ooo, you make me live now honey
Ooo, you make me live
You're the best friend
that I ever had
I've been with you such a long time
You're my sunshine
And I want you to know
That my feelings are true
I really love you
You're my best friend
Ooo, you make me live
I've been wandering round
But I still come back to you
In rain or shine
You've stood by me girl
I'm happy, happy at home
You're my best friend.
You're the first one
When things turn out bad
You know I'll never be lonely
You're my only one
And I love
The things that you do
You're my best friend
Ooo, you make me live.
I'm happy, happy at home
You're my best friend
You're my best friend
Ooo, you make me live
You, you're my best friend.
Elven Merry Song (Tolkien)
Sing all ye joyful, now sing all together!
The wind's in the tree-top, the wind's in the heather;
The stars are in blossom, the moon is in flower,
And bright are the windows of Night in her tower.
Dance all ye joyful, now dance all together!
Soft is the grass, and let foot be like feather!
The river is silver, the shadows are fleeting;
Merry is May-time, and merry our meeting.
Sing we now softly, and dreams let us weave him!
Wind him is slumber and there let us leave him!
The wanderer sleepeth. Now soft be his pillow!
Lullaby! Lullaby! Alder and Willow!
Sigh no more Pine, till the wind of the morn!
Fall Moon! Dark be the land!
Hush! Hush! Oak, Ash and Thorn!
Hushed be all water, till dawn is at hand!
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Bon Jovi
Hey man, I'm alive
I'm takin' each day and night at a time
I'm feelin' like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night
Hey my name is Jim, where did I go wrong
My life's a bargain basement, all the good shit's gone
I just can't hold a job, where do I belong
Been sleeping in my car, my dreams move on
My name is Billy Jean, my love was bought and sold
I'm only sixteen I feel a hundred years old
My foster daddy went, took my innocence away
The street life ain't much better but at least I'm getting paid
And Tuesday just might go my way
It can't get worse than yesterday
Thursdays Fridays ain't been kind
But somehow I'll survive
Hey man, I'm alive
I'm taking each day and night at a time
Yeah I'm down, but I know I'll get by
Hey, hey, hey, hey, man I gotta live my life
Like I ain't got nothing but this roll of the dice
I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday Night
Now I can't say my name or tell you where I am
I want to blow myself away, don't know if I can
I wish that I could be in some other time and place
With someone else's soul, someone else's face
Oh, Tuesday just might go my way
It can't get worse than yesterday
Thursdays, Fridays ain't been kind
But somehow I'll survive
Hey, man I'm alive
I'm taking each day and night at a time
Yeah I'm down, but I know I'll get by
Hey, hey, hey, hey, man I gotta live my life
I'm gonna pick up all the pieces and what's left of my pride
I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night
Saturday night
Here we go
Someday I'll be Saturday night
I'll be back on my feet, I'll be doing all right
It may not be tomorrow baby, that's ok
I ain't going down, gonna find a way
Hey, hey, hey
Man I'm alive I'm taking each day and night at a time
Yeah I'm down, but I know I'll get by
Hey, hey, hey, hey man I'm gonna live my life
Like I ain't got nothing but this roll of the dice
I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night
I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night
Saturday night ... all right
All right ... all right
Saturday night
The Steve Miller Band
The Joker
written by
Miller/Ertegun/Curtis
Homer sings this in an episode of the Simpsons. Hysterical.
Some people call me the space cowboy, yeah
Some
call me the gangster of love
Some people call me Maurice
'Cause I speak
of the pompatus of love
People talk about me, baby
Say I'm doin' you
wrong, doin' you wrong
Well, don't you worry baby, don't worry
'Cause I'm
right here, right here, right here, right here at home
'Cause I'm a
picker, I'm a grinner
I'm a lover and I'm a sinner
I play my music in the
sun
I'm a joker, I'm a smoker
I'm a midnight toker
I sure don't want
to hurt no one
'Cause I'm a picker, I'm a grinner
I'm a lover and I'm
a sinner
I play my music in the sun
I'm a joker, I'm a smoker
I'm a
midnight toker
I get my lovin' on the run
Wooo Wooooo
You're
the cutest thing that I ever did see
I really love your peaches, wannna
shake your tree
Lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey all the
time
Ooo-eee baby, I'll sure show you a good time
'Cause I'm a
picker, I'm a grinner
I'm a lover and I'm a sinner
I play my music in the
sun
I'm a joker, I'm a smoker
I'm a midnight toker
I get my lovin' on
the run
'Cause I'm a picker, I'm a grinner
I'm a lover and I'm a
sinner
I play my music in the sun
I'm a joker, I'm a smoker
I'm a
midnight toker
I sure don't want to hurt no one
Wooo
Woooo
People keep talking about me, baby
They say I'm doin' you
wrong
Well don't you worry, don't worry, no don't worry mama
'Cause I'm
right here at home
You're the cutest thing I ever did see
Really love
your peaches, wanna shake your tree
Lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey
all the time
Come on baby and I'll show you a good
time

Take It To The Limit
alll alone at the end of the of the evening
And the bright lights have faded to blue
I was thinking 'bout a woman who might have
Loved me and I never knew
You know I've always been a dreamer
(spent my life running 'round)
And it's so hard to change
(Can't seem to settle down)
But the dreams I've seen lately
Keep on turning out and burning out
And turning out the same
So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time
You can spend all your time making money
You can spend all your love making time
If it all fell to pieces tomorrow
Would you still be mine?
And when you're looking for your freedom
(Nobody seems to care)
And you can't find the door
(Can't find it anywhere)
When there's nothing to believe in
Still you're coming back, you're running back
You're coming back for more
So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time
Take it to the limit
Take it to the limit
Take it to the limit one more time
Tangled Up In Blue â Bob Dylan
Early one mornin' the sun was shinin',
I was layin' in bed
Wond'rin' if she'd changed at all
If her hair was still red.
Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough.
And I was standin' on the side of the road
Rain fallin' on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through,
Tangled up in blue.
She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess,
But I used a little too much force.
We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out West
Split up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best.
She turned around to look at me
As I was walkin' away
I heard her say over my shoulder,
"We'll meet again someday on the avenue,"
Tangled up in blue.
I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the ax just fell.
So I drifted down to New Orleans
Where I happened to be employed
Workin' for a while on a fishin' boat
Right outside of Delacroix.
But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind,
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind, and I just grew
Tangled up in blue.
She was workin' in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer,
I just kept lookin' at the side of her face
In the spotlight so clear.
And later on as the crowd thinned out
I's just about to do the same,
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said to me, "Don't I know your name?"
I muttered somethin' underneath my breath,
She studied the lines on my face.
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe,
Tangled up in blue.
She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
"I thought you'd never say hello," she said
"You look like the silent type."
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century.
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burnin' coal
Pourin' off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you,
Tangled up in blue.
I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs,
There was music in the cafes at night
And revolution in the air.
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died.
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside.
And when finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn,
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keepin' on like a bird that flew,
Tangled up in blue.
So now I'm goin' back again,
I got to get to her somehow.
All the people we used to know
They're an illusion to me now.
Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenter's wives.
Don't know how it all got started,
I don't know what they're doin' with their lives.
But me, I'm still on the road
Headin' for another joint
We always did feel the same,
We just saw it from a different point of view,
Tangled up in blue.
Our Song
Goodnight Nurse
A picture frame
Hangs on a wall
And I'm surprised
I even noticed it at all
The years have warped the frame
A crack runs through the pane
And itâs begun to fade
But the pictures still the same
If you look close enough youâll know
Sing me your song
Iâll sing my song
You had to go
You know youâre my hero
Time keeps marching on
This is our song
Now I stare
At an empty room
But memories
Give my soul a different tune
Of all the lives you touched
You taught me so much
Now angles lift you up
To a place you loved so much
And youâll be welcome there I know
Sing me your song
Iâll sing my song
You had to go
You know youâre my hero
Time keeps marching on
This is our song
This is our sad goodbye (this is our sad goodbye)
But itâs not a bad goodbye
Well I donât know
What I believe
All I know
Is that there more to it than me
Its time for you to go
To say goodbye I know
I cross my Tâs real slow
I close my eyes
If you look close enough youâll know
Sing me your song
Iâll sing my song
You had to go
You know youâre my hero
Time keeps marching on
This is our song
This is our sad goodbye (this is our sad goodbye)
But itâs not a bad goodbye
This is our sad goodbye (this is our sad goodbye)
But itâs not a bad goodbye
Hurricane - Bob Dylan
Pistol shots ring out in the barroom night
Enter Patty Valentine from the upper hall.
She sees the bartender in a pool of blood,
Cries out, "My God, they killed them all!"
Here comes the story of the Hurricane,
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin' that he never done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.
Three bodies lyin' there does Patty see
And another man named Bello, movin' around mysteriously.
"I didn't do it," he says, and he throws up his hands
"I was only robbin' the register, I hope you understand.
I saw them leavin'," he says, and he stops
"One of us had better call up the cops."
And so Patty calls the cops
And they arrive on the scene with their red lights flashin'
In the hot New Jersey night.
Meanwhile, far away in another part of town
Rubin Carter and a couple of friends are drivin' around.
Number one contender for the middleweight crown
Had no idea what kinda sh*t was about to go down
When a cop pulled him over to the side of the road
Just like the time before and the time before that.
In Paterson that's just the way things go.
If you're black you might as well not show up on the street
'Less you wanna draw the heat.
Alfred Bello had a partner and he had a rap for the cops.
Him and Arthur Dexter Bradley were just out prowlin' around
He said, "I saw two men runnin' out, they looked like middleweights
They jumped into a white car with out-of-state plates."
And Miss Patty Valentine just nodded her head.
Cop said, "Wait a minute, boys, this one's not dead"
So they took him to the infirmary
And though this man could hardly see
They told him that he could identify the guilty men.
Four in the mornin' and they haul Rubin in,
Take him to the hospital and they bring him upstairs.
The wounded man looks up through his one dyin' eye
Says, "Wha'd you bring him in here for? He ain't the guy!"
Yes, here's the story of the Hurricane,
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin' that he never done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.
Four months later, the ghettos are in flame,
Rubin's in South America, fightin' for his name
While Arthur Dexter Bradley's still in the robbery game
And the cops are puttin' the screws to him, lookin' for somebody to blame.
"Remember that murder that happened in a bar?"
"Remember you said you saw the getaway car?"
"You think you'd like to play ball with the law?"
"Think it might-a been that fighter that you saw runnin' that night?"
"Don't forget that you are white."
Arthur Dexter Bradley said, "I'm really not sure."
Cops said, "A poor boy like you could use a break
We got you for the motel job and we're talkin' to your friend Bello
Now you don't wanta have to go back to jail, be a nice fellow.
You'll be doin' society a favor.
That sonofabitch is brave and gettin' braver.
We want to put his ass in stir
We want to pin this triple murder on him
He ain't no Gentleman Jim."
Rubin could take a man out with just one punch
But he never did like to talk about it all that much.
It's my work, he'd say, and I do it for pay
And when it's over I'd just as soon go on my way
Up to some paradise
Where the trout streams flow and the air is nice
And ride a horse along a trail.
But then they took him to the jailhouse
Where they try to turn a man into a mouse.
All of Rubin's cards were marked in advance
The trial was a pig-circus, he never had a chance.
The judge made Rubin's witnesses drunkards from the slums
To the white folks who watched he was a revolutionary bum
And to the black folks he was just a crazy nigger.
No one doubted that he pulled the trigger.
And though they could not produce the gun,
The D.A. said he was the one who did the deed
And the all-white jury agreed.
Rubin Carter was falsely tried.
The crime was murder "one," guess who testified?
Bello and Bradley and they both baldly lied
And the newspapers, they all went along for the ride.
How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fool's hand?
To see him obviously framed
Couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land
Where justice is a game.
Now all the criminals in their coats and their ties
Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise
While Rubin sits like Buddha in a ten-foot cell
An innocent man in a living hell.
That's the story of the Hurricane,
But it won't be over till they clear his name
And give him back the time he's done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.
( Rubin "Hurricane" Carter was eventually pardoned and set free.. thanks, partly, to this song, which did much to draw the media's attention to his plight..)
I don't read this topic but i have this very funny song text i wanted to share with everyone.
The Bad touch by the bloodhound gang:
Ha-Ha! Well now, we call this the act of mating
But there are several other very important differences
Between human beings and animals that you should know about
I'd appreciate your input
Sweat baby sweat baby sex is a Texas drought
Me and you do the kind of stuff that only Prince would sing about
So put your hands down my pants and I'll bet you'll feel nuts
Yes I'm Siskel, yes I'm Ebert and you're getting two thumbs up
You've had enough of two-hand touch you want it rough you're out of bounds
I want you smothered want you covered like my Waffle House hashbrowns
Come quicker than FedEx never reach an apex just like Coca-Cola stock you are inclined
To make me rise an hour early just like Daylight Savings Time
Do it now
You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel
Do it again now
You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel
Gettin' horny now
Love the kind you clean up with a mop and bucket
Like the lost catacombs of Egypt only God knows where we stuck it
Hieroglyphics? Let me be Pacific I wanna be down in your South Seas
But I got this notion that the motion of your ocean means "Small Craft Advisory"
So if I capsize on your thighs high tide, B-5 you sunk my battleship
Please turn me on I'm Mister Coffee with an automatic drip
So show me yours I'll show you mine "Tool Time" you'll Lovett just like Lyle
And then we'll do it doggy style so we can both watch "X-Files"
Do it now
You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel
Do it again now
You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel
Gettin' horny now
You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel
Do it again now
You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel
Do it now
You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel
Do it again now
You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel
Gettin' horny now
Golly gosh, Fb!

We Belong
We Belong, We Belong to the light
Many times I've tried to tell you
Many times I've cried alone
Always I'm surprised how well you
Cut my feelings to the bone
Don't want to leave you really
I've invested too much time
To give you up that easy
To the doubts that complicate your mind
CHORUS:
We Belong to the light
We Belong to the thunder
We Belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We Belong, We Belong
We Belong together
Maybe it's a sign of weakness
When I don't know what to say
Maybe I just wouldn't know
What to do with my strength anyway
Have we become a habit
Do we distort the facts
Now there's no looking forward
Now there's no turning back
When you say
CHORUS
Close your eyes and try to sleep now
Close your eyes and try to dream
Clear your mind and do your best
To try and wash the palette clean
We can't begin to know it
How much we really care
I hear your voice inside me
I see your face everywhere
Still you say
CHORUS
Garbage
Only Happy When It Rains
I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it's complicated
And though I know you can't appreciate it
I'm only happy when it rains
You know I love it when the news is bad
And why it feels so good to feel so sad
I'm only happy when it rains
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
I'm only happy when it rains
I feel good when things are going wrong
I only listen to the sad sad songs
I'm only happy when it rains
I only smile in the dark
My only comfort is the night gone black
I didn't accidentally tell you that
I'm only happy when it rains
You'll get the message by the time I'm through
When I complain about me and you
I'm only happy when it rains
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me
Pour your misery down
You can keep me company as long as you don't care
I'm only happy when it rains
You wanna hear about my new obsession
I'm riding high upon a deep depression
I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it rains
Pour some misery down on me
Pour some misery down on me
Pour some misery down on me
Pour some misery down on me
Pour some misery down on me
I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it rains

The Exponents
She gets glances since they first greeted
Sent salutations that can't be repeated
She's become a social institution
Prepares her prey like an execution
Victoria
What do you want from him, want from him?
Victoria
What do see in him, see in him?
She's up in time to watch the soap opera
Reads cosmopolitan and Alvin Toffler
Meeting in the places that she's never been to
She's got a mind but it's the clothes they see through
Victoria
What do you want from him, want from him?
Victoria
What do see in him, see in him?
She lives with a man who sees her as money
Laughs at his lines that aren't even funny
She's in bed but she's not sleeping
Is he a customer that's really worth keeping?
Victoria
What do you want from him, want from him?
Victoria
What do see in him, see in him?
There's no such thing as romance blooming
Sundays are for washing and doing the hoovering
Talking to her friends on the telephone
Another jerk rings up who won't leave her alone

What do you want from him, want from him?

What do see in him, see in him?
Soul Kitchen - Doors
Well, the clock says its time to close now
I guess Id better go now
Id really like to stay here all night
The cars crawl past all stuffed with eyes
Street lights share their hollow glow
Your brain seems bruised with numb surprise
Still one place to go
Still one place to go
Let me sleep all night in your soul kitchen
Warm my mind near your gentle stove
Turn me out and Ill wander baby
Stumblin in the neon groves
Well, your fingers weave quick minarets
Speak in secret alphabets
I light another cigarette
Learn to forget, learn to forget
Learn to forget, learn to forget
Let me sleep all night in your soul kitchen
Warm my mind near your gentle stove
Turn me out and Ill wander baby
Stumblin in the neon groves
Well the clock says its time to close now
I know I have to go now
I really want to stay here
All night, all night, all night
Listen here.. (-oh, and play LOUD!)

No Way Back
Foo Fighters
Lately, I've been
Livin' in my head
The rest of me is dead,
I'm dying for truth.
Make me, believe,
No more left and right,
Come on take my side,
I'm fightin' for you,
Fightin' for you.
Pleased to meet you take my hand,
There is no way back from here,
Pleased to meet you say your prayers,
There is no way back from here,
But I don't care,
No way back from here.
Wake me, I'm ready,
Somethin' don't seem right,
I was dreamin',
I was talkin' to you,
Memory, mend me,
Know I've seen my share,
Things I can't repair,
I'm breakin' to you,
I'm breakin' to you.
Pleased to meet you take my hand,
There is no way back from here,
Pleased to meet you say your prayers,
There is no way back from here,
But I don't care,
No way back from, here.
Pleased to meet you say your prayers,
There is no way back from here,
Pleased to meet you say your prayers,
There is no way back from here,
But I don't care,
No way back from, here.
ANY MAJOR DUDE WILL TELL YOU - Steely Dan
I never seen you looking so bad my funky one
You tell me that your superfine mind has come undone..
Any major dude with half a heart surely will tell you my friend
Any minor world that breaks apart falls together again
When the demon is at your door
In the morning it won't be there no more
Any major dude will tell you
Have you ever seen a squonk's tears? Well, look at mine
The people on the street have all seen better times..
Any major dude with half a heart surely will tell you my friend
Any minor world that breaks apart falls together again
When the demon is at your door
In the morning it won't be there no more
Any major dude will tell you..
I can tell you all I know, the where to go, the what to do
You can try to run but you can't hide from what's inside of you
Any major dude with half a heart surely will tell you my friend
Any minor world that breaks apart falls together again
When the demon is at your door
In the morning it won't be there no more
Any major dude will tell you..
(..er, did someone mention Broken Worlds..?) :?
Feeling All Right â Traffic (Dave Mason)
Seems I've got to have a change of scene
âCos every night I have the strangest dream
Imprisoned by the way it could have been
Left here on my own, or so it seems..
I've got to leave before I start to scream
Someoneâs locked the door and turned the key.
Are you feeling all right?
Iâm not feeling too good myself..
Well - are you feeling all right?
I'm not feeling too good myself..
- But boy you sure took me for one big ride
And even now I sit and wonder why
That when I think of you I stop to cry
I just can't waste my time - I must keep trying
Iâve got to stop believing in all your lying,
âCos there's to much to do before I die..
Are you feeling all right?
Iâm not feeling too good myself..
Well - are you feeling all right?
I'm not feeling too good myself..
Don't you get too lost in all I say,
But at the time I really felt that way,
But that was then, and now itâs today
I can't get up, get up â so, I'm here to stay
âTil someone comes along to take my place
With a different name - yes, a different face.
Are you feeling all right?
Iâm not feeling too good myself..
Well - are you feeling all right?
I'm not feeling too good myself..
Ghost of You
My Chemical Romance
I never, said I'd lie and wait forever
If I did we'd be together now
I can't always just forget her
But she could try
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I?
Should I?
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever ever...
Ever...
Get the feeling that you're never
All alone and I remember now
At the top of my lungs in my arms she dies
She dies
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I?
Should I?
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I?
Should I?
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me
If I fall...
If I fall...
Down
At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
Never coming home
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home
Never coming home
Could I....
Should I?
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna.....
Hole My Shoe â Traffic (Dave Mason)
I looked to the sky
Where an elephant's eye
Was looking at me
From a bubblegum tree
And all that I knew was
The hole in my shoe,
Which was letting in water (letting in water)
I walked through a field
That just wasnât real
With 100 tin soldiers
Which stood at my shoulder
And all that I knew was
The hole in my shoe,
Which was letting in water (letting in water)
(I climbed on the back of a giant albatross
Which flew through a crack in the cloud
To a place where happiness reigned all year round
And music played ever so loudly)
I started to fall
And suddenly woke
And the dew on the grass
Had soaked through my coat
And all that I knew was
The hole in my shoe,
Which was letting in water (letting in water)
New Speedway Boogie - Grateful Dead
Lyrics: Robert Hunter
Music: Jerry Garcia
Please don't dominate the rap, Jack
If you got nothing new to say
If you please, don't back up the track
This train's got to run today
I spent a little time in the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
I heard some say "better run away"
Others say "better stand still"
Now I don't know but I've been told
It's hard to run with the weight of gold
Other hand I heard it said
It's just as hard with the weight of lead
Who can deny? Who can deny?
It's not just a change in style
One step done and another begun
In I wonder how many miles?
I spent a little time on the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
Things went down we don't understand
But I think in time we will
Now I don't know but I was told
In the heat of the sun a man died of cold
Do we keep on coming or stand and wait
With the sun so dark and the hour so late?
You can't overlook the lack Jack
Of any other highway to ride
It's got no signs or dividing lines
And very few rules to guide
I spent a little time on the mountain
Spent a little time on the hill
I saw things getting out of hand
I guess they always will
Now, I don't know but I've been told
If the horse don't pull, you got to carry the load
I don't know whose back's that strong
Maybe find out before too long
One way or another
One way or another
One way or another
This darkness got to give
Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
All dressed in Black, Black, Black
With Silver Buttons, Buttons, Buttons
All down her Back, Back, Back
She asked her mother, mother, mother
For fifty cents, cents, cents
To see the, elephant, elephant, elephant
Jump the fence, fence, fence
It jumped so high, high, high
It touched the sky, sky, sky
It came back down, down, down
And broke its back, back, back!
I learned this one in first grade, its babyish, but it has a nice ring to it.
A little song I learned from a Star Trek epsiode:
The minstrel boy to war has gone,
in the ranks of dead you will find him
His father's sword he had girded on,
and his wild harp swung behind him
'Land of Songs,' said the warrior-bard,
'though all the world betray thee!'
One sword at least I right shall guard,
and one faithfull harp shall praise thee.
The song is actually supposed to be longer, but this is everything they sing in this episode (and the only part I know myself).
SMOKEY ROBINSON
"Cruisin'"
Cruisin'
Baby, let's cruise away from here
Don't be confused, the way is clear
And if you want it you got it forever
This is not a one night stand, babe, yeah
So let the music take your mind, whoa
Just release and you will find
Your gonna fly away, glad your going my way
I love it when we're cruisin' together
The music is playing for love
Cruisin' is made for love
I love it when we're cruisin' together
Babe, tonight belongs to us
Everything's right, do what you must
And inch by inch we get closer and closer
To every little part of each other
Ooh, babe, yes
Let the music take your mind, babe
Just release and you would find
Your gonna fly away, glad you're going way
I love it when we're cruisin' together
Music is playin' for love
Cruisin' is made for love
I love it when we're cruisin' together
(Cruise with me, babe)
(Cruise with me, babe)
Cruuuuuuuuuise
Oh, oh, babe, yeah
Oooooh, babe
Oooooh, ooooooh
Aaaah, Babe
So good to cruise with you, babe
So good to cruise with you
Ooooooh, yeah
You need me, babe
Aaaaah, babe loves crusin'
Let's flow, let's glide
Ooooh let's open up, and go inside
And if you want it you got it forever
I can just stay there inside you
And love you, babe, oh
Let the music take your mind
Just release and you would find
Your gonna fly, yeah, glad you're going way
I love it when we're cruisin' together
The music is for love, cruisin' is made for love
I love it when we're cruisin' together
Oh, babe
We gonna fly away
Ohhh, yeah
Plan to go my way
I love it when we're cruisin' together
The music is for love, cruisin' is made for love
I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it
We Can Work It Out â The Beatles
Try to see it my way
Do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on
While you see it your way
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone
We can work it out
We can work it out
Think of what you're saying
You can get it wrong and still you think that it's all right
Think of what I'm saying
We can work it out and get it straight or say good night
We can work it out
We can work it out
Life is very short and there's no time
for fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it's a crime
So I will ask you once again
Try to see it my way
Only time will tell of I am right or I am wrong
While you see it your
There's a chance we might fall apart before too long
We can work it out
We can work it out
Life is very short and there's no time
for fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it's a crime
So I will ask you once again
Think of what you're saying
You can get it wrong and still you think that it's all right
Think of what I'm saying
We can work it out and get it straight or say good night
We can work it out
We can work it out
I took a class a few semesters ago about women in music and someone played the video for this song as part of her final class project. I can't agree with the actions taken in the song, but I think it has a very powerful message...
Independence Day
------Martina McBride
Well she seemed all right by dawn's early light
Though she looked a little worried and weak
She tried to pretend he wasn't drinkin' again
But daddy left the proof on her cheek
and I was only eight years old that summer
And I always seemed to be in the way
So I took myself down to the fair in town
On Independence Day
Well word gets around in a small, small town
They said he was a dangerous man
Mama was proud and she stood her ground
she knew she was on the losin' end
Some folks whispered some folks talked
but everybody looked the other way
when time ran out there was no one about
On Independence Day
CHORUS:
Let Freedom ring, let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today is a
Day of reckoning
Let the weak be strong, let the right be wrong
Roll the stone away, let the guilty pay, it's
Independence Day
Well she lit up the sky that fourth of July
By the time that the firemen came
They just put out the flames,
and took down some names
And sent me to the county home
Now I ainât sayin' it's right or it's wrong
but maybe it's the only way
Talk about your revolution
It's Independence Day
Let Freedom ring, let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today is a
Day of reckoning
Let the weak be strong, let the right be wrong
Roll the stone away, let the guilty pay, it's
Independence Day
Roll the stone away
It's Independence Day
Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day, youâll drink the night away
And forget about everything.
This city desert makes you feel so cold
Itâs got so many people but itâs got no soul
And itâs taken you so long to find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything.
You used to think that it was so easy,
You used to say that it was so easy
But youâre tryinâ, youâre tryinâ now.
Another year and then youâd be happy
Just one more year and then youâd be happy
But youâre cryinâ, youâre cryinâ now.
Way down the street thereâs a light in his place
He opens the door, heâs got that look on his face
And he asks you where youâve been, you tell him who youâve seen
And you talk about anything.
Heâs got this dream about buyinâ some land
Heâs gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then heâll settle down, in some quiet little town
And forget about everything.
But you know heâll always keep movinâ
You know heâs never gonna stop movinâ
Cause heâs rollinâ, heâs the rollinâ stone.
And when you wake up itâs a new morning
The sun is shining, itâs a new morning
But youâre going, youâre going home.
Hotel California
The Eagles
On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy, and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely place (background)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year
Any time of year (background)
You can find it here
You can find it here
Her mind is Tiffany twisted
She's got the Mercedes bends
She's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
That she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain
Please bring me my wine
He said
We haven't had that spirit here since 1969
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely Place
Such a lovely Place (background)
Such a lovely face
They're livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise
What a nice surprise (background)
Bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling
Pink champagne on ice
And she said
We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
Relax said the nightman
We are programed to recieve
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave
Wrong Number - Cure
Lime green, lime green and tangerine
The sickly sweet colours of the snakes I'm seeing
Lime green and tangerine
The sickly sweet colours of the devil in my dreams
Lime green, lime green and tangerine
The sickly sweet colours of the snakes I'm seeing
Lime green and tangerine
The sickly sweet colours of the devil in my dreams
It gets to Friday
I give you a call
You know Iâm getting kind of worried
She doesn't seem herself at all
Lime green and a sickly kind of orange
Iâve never seen her like this before
I had the best laid plans this side of America
Started out in church and finished with Angelica
Red and blue soul with a snow-white smile
Can you dig it?
Can you dig it? (Can you dig it?)
Can you dig it?
I had the best-laid plans this side of America
Started out in church and finished with Angelica
And now I dig it in the dirt and Iâm down here for a while
You've got to make up your mind and make it soon
Is there room in your life for one more trip to the moon?
Is there room in your life for one more?
Burn red, red and gold
The deep dark colours of the snakes I hold
Burn red, burn red, burn red and gold
The deep dark colours of the devil at home
She pulls me down just as Iâm trying to hide
Grabs me by the hair and drags me outside
and starts digging in the dirt for a not so early bird
It's the only way for her to get the worm
I had the best laid plans this side of America
Started out in church and finished with Angelica
Red and blue soul with a snow-white smile
Can you dig it?
Can you dig it? (Can you dig it?)
Can you dig it?
I had the best-laid plans this side of America
Started out in church and finished with Angelica
And now I dig it in the dirt and Iâm down here for a while
âHello? Are you still there?â x3
and much too late . . .
âSorry . . . wrong number.â
âIâm sorry you have the wrong number.â
"Yeah... sorry, wrong number."
Angie
The Rolling Stones
Oh, Angie, Oh, Angie, when will those dark clouds disappear
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But Angie, Angie, you can't say we never tried
Angie, you're beautiful, but ain't it time we said goodbye
Angie, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried
All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here
Oh, Angie, don't you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But Angie, Angie, ain't it time we said goodbye
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But angie, I still love you baby, ev'rywhere I look I see your eyes
There ain't a woman that comes close to you, come on baby, dry your eyes
But Angie, Angie ain't it good to be alive
Angie, Angie, they can't say we never tried
