Can I take from your comment that you won't be upset if we release "SiegeMax for 3DSmax"?
The modelling component of the original DSTK was built to work with gmax, which is no longer getting updates from Discreet/AME. gmax was roughly equivalent to Max 4.2, while all new DS2 content was developed in Max 5 and 7.
I'd rather just publish the 3dsmax tools ASAP and revisit supporting legacy gmax users at a later date. As it sits now, the tools run in Max 5,6,7 and the beta version of 8 (and probably 3& 4, although I haven't checked them in years)
Is there anyone interested in working on a port of SiegeMax to other 3D packages?
My plate is full, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see tools running with 'free' modeller like Blender (for those of us that don't have the $$$ for Max)
gmax has been discontinued and I am unable ship an updated version of the plugin required by the DS2TK.
HOWEVER....
The files written by the gmax gamepack (intended for DS1) can still be read into DS2 as there is code in the game to load older formats.
Using gmax to create content is 'officially unsupported', but is definitely possible (and a lot easier than the hacks I've seen to get gmax generated content into games that never even had an official gmax license)
Most of the toolkit is working for me, but the Animation Viewer gives me
Type : Error
Module : C:\Program Files\Dungeon Siege II Tool Kit\DS2AnimViewer.exe
Location : Rapi.cpp line 2731 (at c:\depot\ds2\main\code\libs\Rapi\)
Fail Count : 1 (w:3, e:1, x:0)
Exe timestamp: Nov 7 2005 15:49:50
A reader for texture art\bitmaps\envmaps\b_em_sphere.%img% could not be created. Perhaps file does not exist?
Texture Creation failed! art\bitmaps\envmaps\b_em_sphere.%img%
Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing that it's loading the wrong dll from somewhere, but copying the usual suspects into the toolkit folder didn't help.
I get the same exact error so I cant say unless I find out the fix. Then it should work for you as well, or if you find the fix let me know since I am sure mine will be fixed too.
Thanks for the link sjr!
Heh, must be quite a few folks downloading it because it's going reeeeeeeaaaaaalllllllyyyyy sssssslllllllooooowwwww.... for a 13.4 MB file.
I wonder if it is going to include the content from Siege University 2: http://garage.gaspowered.com/?q=siegeu2
SE2 disallows any sort of conversation adding, so I made my own: Enjoy
EDIT: This is just testing a bunch of different DS2 functions btw.
Talked to biddle and he said there will be a convo editer added(no clue when though).
You can download it from here if the official link is too slow.
Sticky please

No the next will be complaining that it doesn't work with Gmax, and the tool you need to model costs a horrendous amount. More than my yearly rent 8O
