Try this:
Start -> All Programs -> Dungeon Siege -> DSVideoConfig
Then switch the primary display driver to "Primary Display Driver" make sure you DO NOT select the drive with "TnL" at the end.
Hope this works for you.
Brkopac
The symptoms I had was stuttering/intermittent freezing.
Here's what I had to do:
1) Run the Dungeon Siege Video settings app DSVIDEOCONFIG
For the video card, choose the option that does NOT end in TnL, and save
(Example - I chose my GeForce 8800GT Hardware)
2) Note that the utility writes this change to your DungeonSiege.INI file in your DUNGEON SIEGE folder under MY DOCUMENTS, but it does NOT make the change to the DungeonSiege.INI in your Legonds of Aranna folder! (this fact is why I was still having problems at this point - I was always trying to run DS-LOA)
3) Open the DungeonSiege.ini from the Dungeon Siege folder, and copy the first text line, then use that to replace the first text line in your Legends of Aranna DungeonSiege.INI file. Hopefully that fixes it for you, it's exactly what fixed it for me.
wow that came really close :woot:
the DSLOA game fired up, but went haywire after a few minutes..
the cursor started leaving trails accross the screen and then the screen started flickering
the opening videos didn't play either - you know, the mad-dog start up thing..
- very close to getting it to work, though..!!
would that vista 64-bit fix make a difference..??
DS1 & LOA run in Windows7..!!
- see here for the low-down on tricking the OS into accepting it:

- totally amazing!! :woot:
Good news for all. Thanks for the update. I still like to fire DS up on occasion and when/if I get a new computer this will come in handy.
Hah!
- good to know you are still around, dude..
- how's WoW-land these days..?? :woot:
- I've been away far too long in the Blue Havens..
- glad that the greatest game of all time has finally cracked the W7 64-bit barrier, eh..?
- now to go off around the interweb and sing it's praises to all those who have
- yet to experience it..!!
- tally-ho and a hi-ho Silver..!!
many thanks for all the input on this problem
- you've all been splendid..!!
couldn't have done it alone..
Good news to see that its working now. Now we don't have to worry again until they release Windows 8 (oh dear).
As I just posted over at Siegenetwork for my finally running DS/DSLoA in Windows 7.
Perhaps that's just if you use something under the Program Files root (a UAC protected directory). Windows probably just takes anything that a user might interact with out of that location (moved to the virtual store). If you specified a path under the %My Documents% root, I think it might work.
What if I accidentally selected the drive with "TnL"?
Alright I've tried 10+ hours of troubleshooting and countless forums for help. I see the only thing I have not tried is to copy the DungeonSiege.ini file and paste it into the DungeonSiegeLOA.ini file. The only problem is there is no LOA file in my documents folder. When I do a search on my entire computer, there is only one .ini file and it is for dungeon siege, not the expansion. Not sure if anyone still checks this, but help is still greatly appreciated.
Hello Randy,
Although I play DS/DSLOA/DSII/and Broken World on a Windows XP computer. I looked about for the .ini file that you where speaking of. I found the following .ini files on my computer.
My Documents\Dungeon Siege\DungeonSiege.ini -- 357 bytes (357 bytes)
My Documents\Dungeon Siege LOA\DungeonSiege.ini -- 358 bytes (358 bytes)
(also the ones for DSII and BW)
As you can see even though the files have the same name they are located in different directories and the file size is one byte different.
Check your computer again to see if there are two ini files of the same name but of different sizes.
