Hello AvatarDr,
Are you speaking of a problem with DS2 or with Broken World?
Are you playing with any mods installed?
Are you playing on a local area network or the Internet?
The more information you provide the easier it will be for the people here to track down your problem.
BW 2.3, however playing original campaign.
No modes.
Lan.

Trying to save right now. Everything is ok except party file.
Could it be because my system locks file after 1st time I save and forbid to modify it again?
Cause sometimes it saves correctly but after a few time it don't work again.
another user here, darkelf, also has this problem. do u happen to be running windows 7 too by any chance? not sure what causes it. dont think there is a fix for this yet.
yeah it would do that to me on Multiplayer all the time on Win 7 64 bit, never had that issue on win xp, quite annoying, me think it cause xp used a real save, while win7 uses a link to my documents, where as it could be the game needs to run with admin priviledges as we;;... also it seemed that the inventory being beyond full was causing corrupt saves as well since inventory was all full and spellbook was all full, plus had many other spellbooks full in inventory, it would go beyond the 255 item and corrupt the save some how. and revert back to previous save everytime.
but cant really speculate what is happening, as we don't know what os is being used, but those are the 2 things I think cause the problem. perhaps need to add the save point to command line as mentioned in the ds2 revived forum post. but not sure.
also should say to make backup of those save files, also can rename party to party1 and rename the party.tmp file to party and try using it, but I think it may be too late, the game will continue to do those tmp files, the inventory probably not saving either, so game may be already broke.
Do you mean that .ds2party.tmp is the full copy of .ds2party file? Cause it saves correctly and I can rename it if it works.
Yes, I run win7 x64 and no, my inventory wasn't full.
Upd. Looks like renaming really works.
P.s. How can it be beyond full? Modes?
But the Packmule with 3 pages is endanger, if within its inventory you have more than 6 Spellbooks with 10 spells each and the inventory is otherwise filled by 1x1 items.
ps: I would blame the mp_save_client.gas or mp_save_host.gas as I have never had a corrupted save(tmp file stop error) .
Excess Inventory item, yes, but it never stopped during the tmp>bak file rename process .
Alternively, it may be something new like the way permissions/trusts are granted in a LAN setup that need to be different in Win7.
yea im wondering too if using the save path commandline to force a fixed location for saving can fix the bug. however, judging from the reports from both darkelf and avatardr, its not likely to fix the bug since the issue appears to be the renaming of the .tmp ds2party files.
Im occuring he same problem, game is saving everything for my 2 buddies ( 1 of them is host) and for me it only saves quest log bugged progress ( http://pbrd.co/1wo1yHv chapter 6,7,8 are gone) and stopped saving character level and item progress.
I have occoured the same problem now, while playing DS 2 BW via lan multiplayer.
No mods instaled.
Local network.
We played yesterday and went to lvl 20 and saved game, mine character progress stopped saving after level 15 while quests journal completed afterwards became "X" (were completed in another session). WE were playing in 3 ppl, and i weren't host.
Im using windows 7 64 bit.
Anyone know how to fix it - save game properly?
First let me say welcome to Siege the Day. Second it is lucky that I checked the unpublished posts. If you do not register, only staff can find your posts and publish them. There are times when the staff here is doing something in the real world and the unpublished posts may take days for us to find. So I would recommend that you register so that everyone can see your post as soon as you write it. To help you with this multi player issue we will need more information.
1. What version of windows are you using?
2. What version of Dungeon Siege 2 are you using. (The version should be 2.2)
3. Are you playing the Broken World Map?
4. Do the other members of your game have the same problem?
5. Do all of you have the same game configuration (everyone has the same mods if any installed)?
6. What system are you using to play multiplayer?
7. Have you tried hosting the game to see if the same problem occurs?
8. Have you tried DS2 to see if the same problem occurs?
Please register and post your answers to the questions as best as you can.
Wow, surprised to find this forum (and the IRC channel!) that are still somewhat active!
Me and a friend have been trying to play the Steam version of DS2, modded to BW2.3 with Steam user Killah's "Steam Fix":
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=388250453
(I think it's really just a warez version being used to overwrite the Steam directory)
We are both using Win7, 64bit, and have been connecting using Tunngle and a LAN game.
We are encountering the save-file rollback issue, but have not tried renaming the temp files like has been mentioned here. Can anyone give full details on that process?
My main question though, is what base-version of the game is best to use? Clearly the Steam version or any other legitimate copy is no good, now that GameSpy is dead. And Killah's "Steam Fix" really stinks like "iffy patchwork" to me. Can someone suggest a specific base-version of DS2BW to install so we have a functional, common starting point for the game?
We'd like to try this mod assuming we can get the game/character saves working correctly:

Thanks a lot!
