Modified Ring

Hello I've been playing DS2 off and on since it first came out and I would like to learn how to modify existing items in the game. My goal is to modify an existing "RING" and add multiple improved enhancements such as a higher health rate, mana rate, high armor. An all in one ring with low requirements. I have installed the DS2 Mod Kit v1.1 and I'm able to load it up and look around. Can anyone point me to a website or tutorial that explains where I need to go or what I need to do to make this kind of change in the game files? I'm assuming it would be a ring I could only get as a drop in the Eirulan region. Thanks for any help. forums: |

at top of this site is a link for tutorials for tanking, sword and armor making that are similar to ring editing...the ds2 mod kit is mainly used for creating maps but can be used for tanking and un-tanking the mods u will create...would highly suggest downloading tank creator and tank extractor they are easily to manipulate than the tool kit is. you will need to extract(untank) Logic.ds2res from your ds2 resources to have access to mod your ring, will need a text editor of your choice, (notepad) if nothing else to edit the trs_ring.gas for a ring.
I am sure there are other tutorials around but it takes time to find them since a lot of sites are gone now.
Amazing!
I didn't expect a reply so quickly. Tank/untank - check, Logic.ds2res - check, edit trs_ring.gas - double check! I'll begin reading the tutorials right away. How fun!
Thank you Darkelf.
After reading the tutorial here and from another site (a few links are broken on this site), I was able to create a modified ring. Yeah!!.
Just as Darkelf suggested, I used Tankviewer to open/view and extract the *.gas file that contained the item I wanted to modify. Tankviewer extracts the file and subfolders. I used notepad to open and edit the *.gas file (In my case it was a gas file with in the Aranna Legacy mod). I found a ring my characters had plenty of. Ring of the wild. And modified the required level and enhanced the armor, as well as other neat things!. I then saved the gas file in the same folder I found it in. I then used Rapid Tanker Creater 2 (which appears as a trojan to McAfee by the way). I created a DS2 file named, "superring.ds2res" and dropped it into my resources folder. BOOM! My charactors had fun rings to wear.
Thanks for your help Darkelf!
P.S. TankerCreater 2 doesn't seem to harm my computer but does come up as a trojan to some anti-virus software.
congrats dtgamer99 on creating your ring mod, as for tank creator 2 its not just mcafee that says it is a Trojan other virus software will say that too, its really a safe program, as most of us here at siegetheday have been using it for almost 10 years, the fact it uses java to open and close tanks to modify games is really why it is flagged as a Trojan, I wish there was a way to make a non-java version of the tank creator 2 in c without java, java has been known for security issues in the past.
anyways rings are just the start, now u have the skills to modify anything in the game done the same exact way as the ring just a different gas file.
Show us your ring im curious :P
I do trust Tanker Creator 2 :). Here is my first fun ring mod. I think it's a bit much since my characters don't seem to flinch anymore so I might throttle it back. It's fun running through the game again and just watching my guys destroy everything. Like fireworks.
I tried attaching a small bmp of a screen shot but I don't think it's working.
