Text size mod

Is there any mod REDUCING text size in journal? I've found only "Text size increased", but my problem is too LARGE font that looks more like the "modified" version. I can't read the journal normally because some part of text doesn't fit the page and remains invisible...

if u have found a text size increased, then it could be modified to make the text smaller. also the size of the text is related somewhat to the resolution of the game screen u playing with assuming the game mod or mod author is using a wider screen that what u r playing with. but none the less, the game uses various fonts so they could indeed be made smaller.

The size of the text depends on the resolution, but the amount of text per page doesn't, so I still can't read the whole page in any resolution Sad

Where to change these fonts?

It's not the font size that's limiting things... it's the UI bitmaps. They are of a fixed (non-scalable) size, so the in-game GUI takes up less space on screen the higher your resolution. AFAIK, if GPG doesn't have a solution, the mod community won't likely have one either (hard-coded is hard-coded...).

Now I have two questions because I had a similar issue when trying to use tank creator where the text took up more space than the window provided. It turned out it was not the program but windows itself that was causing the problem:

1. What is your default windows screen resolution and is your video card in the system_detail.gas file?
2. What size icon do you have selected? You can discover this by right clicking the windows desktop then left clicking view. If you have large icons selected try picking medium or small.
Then have a look at Dungeon Siege and see if anything has changed. It worked for me on the non-scalable window size for several of my editing programs.

This mod made by KillerGremal may help; Text Size Increased Alpha 3a found about 3/4 the way down the page. For users playing in higher resolutions and please note the disclaimer about being an alpha version. http://ds2.bplaced.net/mods/

You will have to right click the file and choose "save as" with an extension of ds2res for it to work. For some obscure reason some mods from KillerGremal's site can't be downloaded properly by left clicking as they open as html (as least with Internet Explorer).

1. 1280x1024 - same as in the Dungeon Siege settings.
My video card is not in the system_detail.gas and I don't know what to write to add it.
2. Size icon is medium, tried to change it to small

Of course nothing has changed! While windows programs (including editors) depend on the system settings, videogames (in general) don't. They have their own settings, resolutions and so on.

It doesn't help because there is simply no file on server.
Even if I find the file, it wont help because it would only increase the font size, while my problem is text "cutting" so I need to DECREASE font size or just make the journal window larger...

@Krassandra: The GUI design in DS2 is really not that flexible, specially not for unintended/new/larger screen resolution.

But, where did this happen? Lorebook? Bestiary? Tutorial/handbook?
And which language was it?

However, the GUI often uses a 12p font by default, the next smaller font available would be a 9p font which is probably terribly or at least 'uninvitingly' small to read for most people I guess.

Another approach would be to increase the GUI or the affected text areas - sadly quite painful to do this everywhere, and the addon possibly needs it's own revision once again.

So the best idea I had was reducing the text/row height. There is one central place to do this for many parts of the game, and according to my tests yesterday a reduction there doesn't extremely affect the readability.

Thanks for the hint, I just fixed this (for most I.E. versions hopefully).

It happens on Journal and Inventory object stats so it's often difficult to understand the number of damage or skill. It's a problem of my damned localization - looks like they have increased font size from 12 to 14 p or something. I've deleted "Language.dll" and "Language.ds2res" and everything goes well, but all the text is now in English (what I don't regret at all).

How to do it?

Yes it's fixed for IE, Chrome, Mozilla and Opera.
