DS1 Legendary mod: Armor Idea

I posted this a little bit ago as a blog post but then I realized, duh, this is fit for a forum topic. So as we know, there are errors with the Armors brought in from DS1 via the legendary mod. Broken texture paths on exposed skin, the neck looking immensely thick on DS2 characters, the leggings clipping through the boots, etc etc. So I had an idea that might make them fit into the rest of the armor a bit more. What if instead of adapting the meshes to fit DS2 bodies, we fix the textures to match DS2 armor? For example: Hard brigandine (The shiny armor with blue shoulders) from DS1 would have it's textures fixed to work on the chainmail mesh. So that would mean Type 3 DS1 Armor textures would be changed to apply to the Type 4 DS2 armor. I also think I know how to make the rest of the DS1 types work with the DS2 types but I'm not gonna bother making that list unless someone likes this idea, lol. forums: |

Recreating each of the DS1 armors from scratch to fit the various DS2 Body types Female, Male, Dwarf and Half Giant and the 23 skin tones and the ground armor images would be very time consuming as it would take 2829 new images just to recreate the DS1 Type 1 armor set. Then recreating the templates, removing things that no longer work in DS2 (certain magic enhancements) Naming things to fit the DS2 naming conventions. Depending on the detail of the armor I could most likely redraw each image from scratch in one to two hours, then putting in the 22 different skin tones, take the original new drawing and adding in the skin tones another 10 minutes each (I hate coloring outside the lines!). So at a minimum for just the type 1 armor about 120 days working 24 hours a day, if my head did not explode or the necessity of testing each item and then fixing the problems that occur. It would be better if you used the Cat Mansion Adepts mod, because those characters can wear all the the DS1 and DS2 armor styles by defaulf.
That's a good idea but for the reason you mention at the very end.......it's very time consuming and fiddly converting the armors unless you're have a very good graphics program and are very skilled. I know as that's what I did originally for the very first armors. I still have 25 converted textures that I can upload for you if you're interested (3 are from Phoenix).
The type7 ds1 to type5 ds2 armors (mage) are the easiest to convert as the shapes are the closest.
Also you can use the same idea for the helms, gloves and boots as you can see here;
@iryan - I am interested in having those textures. Question though- is that a full mod you have there or just the textures? I don't recognize that set from the DS1 Legendary mod.. Maybe I haven't come across it yet?
@bare_elf - I realized that after you made that point when I went back and looked at the DS1 armors in comparison to the DS2 armors.. I misjudged just how many there were. See, it doesn't look like a lot of textures just looking at the DS1 armors alone, but then as you said with the different body types and skin tones...
Holy hell, haha.
You could always do one every so often and put it into the game. At least you'd be making progress in something else as well... or just find someone willing to do it. Honestly, I'd contribute some, but I have little to no experience with such things. Personally, I think you should start with the easier things; the icons.
