- blimey, TAS - that's like trying to run an express train with a 50cc motor.. 8O
Its not so bad on other threads with not many images, just a few seconds sometimes.
Plus, high speed internet ups the vulnerability to spyware and such. My office computer doesnt have the capability for high-speed internet, but my gaming laptop does, so i give the laptop the wireless broadband, and IT gets more spyware. I dont want to lose all of the important files that i have on my office computer(you may have seen my desktop). The gaming laptop is not much of a concern, i can always reinstall games, but i cannot reinstall precious data.
--edit--
Plus, A small engine can produce large amounts of power, with the proper gear system to step up the power.
The engineer in me can't let this one go by.
A gear system can only reduce (i.e. waste) power. What it can increase is torque or linear force at the expense of velocity (angular or linear). So a 50cc engine could move a large train, but very slowly.
If you want extra power out of the small engine, then you have to increase the fuel flow rate, and air flow rate to go with it. A forced induction system at 10 bar (ten times atmospheric pressure) makes a 50cc engine act like a 500cc engine. But then you also need to cool it like a 500cc engine, and it needs the rods, crankshaft and gearbox of the larger engine to handle the forces and power, so by the time you've finished, you still have a large engine, but with very small cylinders.
Yes, well I was a bit distracted at the moment when i was writing that post, as my cat was trying to climb up on my bookshelf. :P A good way to fix the problem at hand is to just use my gaming laptop for internet, as it uses 802.11n.
Oh - for a minute, I thought you meant that monster machine..!! 8O
? ? ?
You mean the one with 676 desktop items? :?
That would be the slow office computer.
My gaming laptop's desktop is quite clean, just filled with about 60 shortcuts to games.
22 hours into game No56 - the Goblins lair..
Naidi models some smart threads and a really smart weapon

..the Dragon Mini-gun, no less!!
- still a great game.. even in it's original form!
Very sharp indeed. How did you get the gun to look like that? I don't remember my dragon mini-gun looking so dragonish. I also started a brand new character in Ehb just the other day...(screenies posted in my blog yesterday ) Are we on the same wavelength?
I use NVIDIA 6600GT graphics..
the new NVIDIA GUI has overrides for Dungeon Siege.exe in the program settings..
- just call up the GUI from the systray
- click on 3D Settings
- then "Manage 3D settings"
Under the tab marked program settings..
- in section1
- scroll down to find Dungeon Siege.exe
- in section 2, you'll now see all of the various overrides that NVIDIA has included specifically for DS1.. they are matched to your card's capabilities
- experiment with the settings for the best result and then save
- next time you play, these settings will automatically be in place..
(DS2 is also there, in various forms.. it's very easy to use!)
Generally the better your vc the better the image quality of the game. You can run the game at max everything and at 1280x1024 like I do, you can get some pretty good pics.
Hmm...It is a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE and it doesn't seem to run in the tray. When I rightclick on the desktop I get "nView desktop Manager" but there aren't any options pertaining to 3D or Dungeon Siege. Is that something I would need to download? (remember I get confused by things that are not in books...;))
I think the new GUI is available as a seperate download from NVIDIA..
it sounds as though you haven't updated your 7300LE's drivers recently..
- which drivers are you using at the moment?
- the latest is 91.47 - only came out recently..
- or are you using the Go series in a laptop..??
This is the message I got the other day when attempting to update the videocard.
Cannot continue the hardware update wizard
The wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than the software you currently have installed.
I am going to browse around their website via the link you provided a while back and see what is what. If I get confused would it be ok to PM you with the problem?
Searching by using the hardware wizard will only search on your computer or on a disc in a optical drive it wont go out to the Nvidia website and look for newer drivers.
The latest Nvidia drivers are at http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.47.html
Thanks to Blondin and SJR for the graphics help.
..don't forget post a screenie, Miss K - did it make any difference?
- I've just escaped from the Goblins.. hurray!

- Merik's staff looks so cool..
