I've managed to get DS2 running beautifully at 1600x900 using Elys' amazing prog.. - but I can't for the life of me get DS1 and DSLoA running in Win10(insider 16251).. - any clues on a solution out there? forums: |

I have DS1 (from LoA retail CD) running fine on Windows 10 - even the latest Creators Update - without using Compatibility at all. Resolution 1024x768x32. Windows itself I've got using 1440x900 (my monitor can do higher than that, but then some of the writing would come out smaller than I like).
I was on XP until my hard drive died. The new desktop I got to replace it came with Windows 7. Only the tower and software were new then - I kept my old monitor for a while, changing it later. Next I took Microsoft's free upgrade from Windows 7 to 10. Now at some point (maybe when installing on Windows 7, maybe when going to the widescreen monitor) there was something special I had to with DS1; whatever it was I found the advice I needed somewhere, probably here.
I had no problem when I installed DS1 and LoA on my Windows 10 Laptop. It works in both wide screen and standard resolutions after I went to KillerGremal's site Dungeon Siege II - Outpost and ran the mod for updating the System Detail.gas http://ds2.bplaced.net/sysdat/ds1/. Now I can not run DS2 or Broken World because there are issues with the video chip set and DS2. I run all versions of the game on my windows 7 desk top.
aye - it runs fine on my laptop with the current Win10 Creator Update, no problem there..
the latest Insider Builds are slightly glitchy with some older games, though..
- the Fall Creator Update is due in September, so I'm hoping a fix will arrive soon..
- there are huge advances coming with the new CU - lots of whistles and bells..
the latest AMD driver coupled with the latest Windows10 insider (17025) has solved the issue
all is well - and Blondin235 is dancing with glee..!!
