Possible to play solo MP map on PC not on network/internet?

Is it possible to play the DS/LoA multiplayer map solo on a Windows 7 PC that has absolutely no network or internet connection? I've just downgraded my ancient games machines to Windows 7 Pro without any connection whatsoever to the outside world, expecting to have less troubles than with Win10, and when I try to host a MP game (solo) it shoots me back to the main menu. This for Zonematch (which I didn't expect to work anyway), Internet, and Network. So it seems that DS detects I have no connectivity and disallows playing the MP map. Or does the MP map have to be enabled somehow? I don't remember ever having to do that on other installations. Just to be clear, world.dsmap is KoE, and mpworld.dsmap is LoA *and* Utraean Peninsula? Is that correct? |

Hi WyrdForge.
World.dsmap is KoE, yes. MpWorld.dsmap is UP. Both in Maps folder.
Expansion.dsmap (LoA, the pursuit of the Shadowjumper round Utraea island) comes in DSLOA folder.
To play multi-player I have always used two computers. I once had two windows 7 computers connected on a local network. That where not connected to the internet. Things worked fine. Give me a bit of time and I will see if I can get this windows 7 computer to play with itself.
You can but it is totally pointless because you can not hire any characters, and because of that several quests will not work. My advise is play single player with only one computer.
Oh crap! How could I have missed that? I stay away from DS for 6 months and forget everything. Now I see it (duh!) So yeah, seems that somehow it doesn't allow MP if there is no network/internet connectivity.
Yeah, but I like the challenge of solo in a *big* map and also it's a way to grow a character to levels I've never had yet. I've played the MP map with DS2 Legendary on my newest machine (being able to build a party is fun), but not as challenging as solo. Plus, I love the DS1 spells, like Sleepy Gas and many others. I just like the look and feel of DS1.
I'm also trying to squeeze the last bit of life out of a 14-year-old system (that started out with XP). Wicked powerful for 2008, but now it wheezes and goes into a coma randomly, even after downgrading from Win10 to Win7. Time to put it out of its misery. I'm looking to replace that secondary (gaming) machine with something newer, and be done with all this pointless tinkering. I've got some DS playing and modding to do! (That and too many other hobbies competing for my time. Oh well, first world problems, indeed).
You can play any map solo DS1 or DS2. Hire the players just long enough to see if they have a quest, then release them.
