Tabbed browsing rules! I've been using IE7 for the last couple weeks, and love this "new" feature.

Tabs are nice. Firefox has 'em too. Plus I have a kitty theme for my browser. Laughing out loud

I haven't really used Firefox enough to try out all the features... ...but I know this is another concept that M$ "borrowed" from somewhere else. Wink

As for Themes, I lost my taste for them during my tech. support days. I remember one person had a red background on their marquee "screen saver", and it caused a terrible image burn in on the monitor. I've also seen quite a few colour schemes in use that actually hurt my eyes using for only a couple minutes (neon pink, flourescent green, brilliant orange...).

Once I had moved on to server support, working on 30-50 machines regularly during the day, visual customization was something totally irrelevant to any of us on the team (aside from making a bitmap with the server's name... for the desktop background). Now I use a black desktop background, and the most neutral (and easy on the eyes) colour schemes... I prefer the flashing lights and bright colours to come from content, not from my basic OS and apps. Smile

I like the way that you can get a full page view by removing the status bar under the "view" tab and using F11..

- some web pages look much better this way..

- and opening a page in a new tab by pressing the the middle mouse button is a great idea..

I always leave my desktop as MS blue (..unless I've just found another good DS2 screenie..!!) :woot:

Oh, some themes are very jarring...I agree with you there. This is just a very nice little theme for Firefox browser, and it is subtle. (I didn't make it, just downloaded it )

Glad to see posting at Kathy's again. In regards to Firefox, it slowed down my internet for some reason....I prefer IE.

Wasn't there someone in this forum mentioning something about supreme International Hockey prowess? Now, I wonder how that certain someone's country did at this year's World Junior Hockey Championships... /me looks at the results... Hmph. I see Canada won the Gold, and the Silver and Bronze went to countries other than the country in question. Hmmmmm.... better luck next time. :P

:tease:

Oooh, snap! Now the country in question wouldn't be a norhtern European country would it? :P

We'll do better next time. :P

Russia has the best team in the world for hockey. That's just the way it is. Sad

That trailer looks very interesting, blondin. I would like to see that, but it has not been released in my area as of yet. It is probably out in theatres in Boston because it looks like one of them there films city slickers like. ( I am striving for a tone of irony! :P ) Where I live folks tend to go for the slick mainstream stuff so we never get alot of the really good films around here. Sad I lived in Boston for about 5 years and now I am about 50 miles away and miss all my little artsy theatres...We used to go to one about 10 minutes away that was one of the chain theatres, but it was right across the street from Boston University so they used to show alot more variety than the typical chain theatre. Of course no chan theatre can compete with some of the old movie houses, such as the Coolidge Corner theatre. It is this restored theatre from the early 19th century with all the original decor and artwork. Moviegoing was a totally different proposition back then that's for sure.

Hehe, you ask one little question and I go rambiling on. Sorry about that... Wink

the Somerville theatre is another moviehouse from the same general era. My ex husband and I used to go here for the festivals they had, pretty cool stuff.

Early 1900's perhaps. Another example I've visited is the Coleman in Miami. (no that's OK not FL)

http://www.colemantheatre.org/

It was my father's local movie theatre when he was over here in the US learning to fly in the last class at the Spartan school. (They ended WWII when they heard he was coming!) We visited for a 50th anniversary of VE day and they were just finishing the restoration.

Lol, yes, that is what I meant. I hadn't finsished my coffee when I was typing that, can't you tell? :P That is a great old theatre too, and looks like it is from the same era as the two that I mention. The chrome trim and industrial carpet of modern theatres leaves me a little cold now, I have to say. (Although the rocking seats at the place I go to now are sort of nice...)

Modern theatres serve resturant food, that is a major plus.
*munchs on breadstix*

The theatres I mention serve food as well. Personally, I stick to the old standby of popcorn and soda. I am always afraid some person will come along and spill their nachos all over me. A theatre is not a living room, dining room or a restaurant, and lots of people throw empty food containers on the floor when they are done instead of waiting until the movie is over and throwing them away in the trash. I shouldn't have to step over paper plates on the floor to get to the exit.

Sorry TAS, I know you didn't mean your comment in a negative or combative way, but I personally think restaurant food should be left in restaurants. Whew, ok, rant over. Laughing out loud

That reminds me of an idea for a business I had about a year ago... (not something I'd do, just an idea I had). Set up a bunch of small movie rooms (think deluxe home-theater setup) of varying sizes, and rent out the rooms for "dinner and a movie". Restaurant quality food served while viewing new release movies (or older DVD's) with a special friend, or a group of buddies. Time limits would be complicated if you allowed pause / rewind, but the logistics could be worked out I'm sure. The biggest problem I would see is the price point... to make such a business viable you would have to charge a significantly high price. Partnering with a neighboring restaurant or two might be necessary for the sake of profitability while being affordable.

/end random thoughts

There was a place in my general area that did something similiar to that. I can't remember the name of it though. When I tried a search I got this result...

http://www.azcentral.com/ent/dating/articles/0201supperclub.html

This seems more civilized than schlepping food around in a theatre. As I mentioned before, I have an almost irrational fear that someone will spill nachos on me! Laughing out loud

Caution: Molten cheese may be hazardous. Shock

Sharkull's picture

That's the same general idea Kathy, except I was thinking of a room for each table / group (choose your own movie, more privacy...). Ever go to one of the old original small Cine-Plex theaters with 20-40 seats each in some of the screening rooms (there'd be over a dozen per location)? If that could work, then I don't see why small dinner-and-a-movie rooms couldn't work too.

The food service staff would obviously have to be warned to be very careful when carrying nachos though... :P

I see you online kathy. Hi! Smile

Hmm.. I have a craving for cheese and nachos..

Heh heh, hi sol. I suppose you want the cheese because you want to...*gasp* pour it in my hair!!! Shock :P

That would be an amazing idea, Sharkull. I'd love those movie-dinner rooms. That's something that has the possibility to get big.
