Reason to change your router's password...

Wow! Interesting information. I am going to have to make a password for my router. It is just awful that people spend so much time and energy devoting themselves to harming and exploiting their fellow human beings.

ive been reading this threat, but i think they would target only people/companies that are transfering larger amount of money...

Large companies will not have unprotected routers... this is a threat that could target anyone (even people of modest means). Thiefs only see the money, not the victims... they don't care who they hurt. A businessman's money is the same colour as the grandmother on a fixed income.

And pursuing what is in your own self-interest is the very nature of basic survival necessity. Doing so in any way other than open trade is to corrupt one's morality with the plague of hypocrisy (a disease every criminal is inflicted with).

Anyone who is in jail could be called a criminal, but is someone in jail for bouncing too many checks really a *criminal*?

I wouldn't go as far as to put a blanket statement, but it is partly true.....

The disease I spoke of is hypocracy... and very few humans are not hypocritical in some way. It is conceivable that some psychotics might want to be treated the same way they treat others, but most criminals certainly do not do so. Would the check bouncer consider it moral for others to submit fraudulent payment in trade for his/her valued product (what if the check bouncer's employment paycheck bounced... would that be acceptable to him/her)? I think not. That double standard is hypocritical, and I believe hypocracy is a corruption of morality.

BTW, convicted innocents are not criminals, while those who commit crimes (regardless of whether they are caught or not) are.

I guess I'm as guilty as anyone for taking this thread off the rails... if anyone is interested in discussing this further I think a separate OT thread might be a good idea so that the router topic can remain otherwise useful.
