So you don't call it winter until after winter solstice?

Correct... perhaps the season names are determined differently in your part of the world (making all Swedes as silly as Solly... :P ) ? :? In Canada:
Winter = winter solstice until the vernal equinox. Spring = vernal equinox until the summer solstice. Summer = summer solstice until autumnal equinox. Fall / autumn = autumnal equinox until winter solstice. Lather rinse and repeat... In Toronto, the weather seems to usually go along with these seasonal demarcations too, making things match up nicely. Snow in November is extremely rare, and in December there usually isn't much. The big dumpings here usually occur in Jan. / Feb. and sometimes (rarely) in March.

As for the kitty way of determining the change of seasons, I'm afraid that wouldn't work for me KG. Smile The only cat I know is my sister's, and "Precious" is an indoor kitty staying inside a nice cozy condo so she never has occasion to dress like in your pic. Wink

Side note: my sister hasn't read LoTR, nor has she seen any of the movies. When she does, I think her choice of that name for her kitty cat might be reconsidered... :P
