Dial-up... ouch. If you can deal with a lengthy download, I'd say my favorite is "The Lands of Hyperborea". Google the name and you'll find a few options for download (version 3.0 is the one you want).

For other options, here's a list of larger maps (don't forget about sjr's link he previously posted too):

Smaller maps exist too:

There is another option however, with no download. DS1 comes with two maps; one for single player and another for multi-player. You can play the MP map (the Utraean Peninsula) solo by starting a LAN session as host, and playing that way. Quest status isn't saved when you exit though... so you might want to take pen-and-paper notes as you go to track your progress. There is a mod that enables the saving of quest status in MP, but I've never tried it...

If someone else has another recommendation, please speak up. I haven't played a lot of DS1 maps (just obsessively played a few Wink ), so my knowledge on what's available is limited.

One last comment: I find it difficult to believe that you are new to the game, and don't have the version of the game packaged with the expansion, Legends of Aranna. If you do have LoA, there is a third map added with it, and it is playable in single player.

I hope this helps, and happy gaming.
