assuming u have the cd version, may have to uninstall..would suggest running a registry cleaner program called ccleaner https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download free version download and clean the registry plus have it delete temp files, be careful with the other checks though sometimes they wipe out history,cookies etc and stuff so make sure to check those off so can keep. then
turn virus detection software off, reinstall...I installed mine to C:/ instead of program files (x86) cause it seems with newer windows that folder causes problems. anyways install ds2 first...but make sure u patch it to 2.2 with the ds2 patch then install broken world again c:/ after installed turn virus detection back on...

if u have steam version then will have to use their install folders instead..

for now not knowing if u have cds or not, and what os not much more I can help with.
