Hi Garol Not sure what would cause the application to close unless your version of DS2 is already version 2.2 or the update file was corrupted or you did not install it as system administrator. I have had success installing Dungeon Siege 2 on Windows 98SE, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. My Game CDs are version 2.1. In every case I have used the following update/patch http://siegetheday.org/~bare_elf/patches/DS2_Patch_2.2.exe for all the versions I made sure my antivirus program was disabled. For Windows 7 professional I made sure I had first installed all the windows updates. Then I installed the game as administrator and selected run in XP mode. After the install was done and prior to installing the patch I started the game and verified everything was working. Then making sure the DS2 CD #1 was in my cd drive I installed the above patch. The patch worked.
Once again I verified the game was working correctly prior to installing Broken World. For Windows 8 I had a hard time until I installed the game from Administrator Mode. Windows 10 was no problem at all. Hope this helps. You can verify your game revision using the ABOUT on the game selection menu. Make sure to use the above patch as I know it works.
