The exercise bike you purchased is a good one. however the saddle (seat) is not very good. If you can get to a bike store I would suggest you get you butt measured for the proper width of saddle and then purchase one without to much padding. As over padded saddles can cause your hips to twist and that is not good for what you are trying to do. Your doctor is correct to limit the time you ride. I would suggest no more than 2 or 3 miles a day broken up into several short rides of about 15 to 20 minutes each and go slowly keeping both your legs together and not bowed out at the knees. Increase the mileage a bit about every two weeks.
