Yes his cell is plush as cells go and he has clean clothes to wear, However I think there is a sinister reason he has not gone back to his palace!
I think the King has been munching on some of the smaller monsters. First clue his girth.
Second take a good look at his mouth, I think that is blood and not lipstick.
