Jeriah just seems to be the kind of guy who would have a head on a shelf. I noticed also (I think I put this is a blog post) that there appears to be a body laying on the floor. It looks like Jeriah hastily covered the body up when the party comes to his door.

The old man in Legends of Aranna also has the same head on his shelf. The one in the cabin by the frozen lake with the displacer in his yard. There must be dozens upon dozens of big head blond clones being murdered and decapitated just to decorate shelves. Such carnage!
