It appears that skunks can be very friendly when food and water is scarce. The area we stayed at was burned back in late June. Jane and Alexis where eating a snack while looking at the stars. They had Grapes, Black Berries, oatmeal cookies, unsalted peanuts and beer. When the skunk came close Jane held out a grape and a cookie and the skunk walked up and took them from her. The skunk sat down and ate them. They kept feeding the skunk and it did not spray them or run off. The skunk tried to get his tongue into Alexis beer. So Alexis poured some into a plate. The skunk lapped it up and then looked at Alexis as if asking for more. So Alexis gave the skunk a whole bottle. After drinking the beer the skunk curled up between them and fell fast asleep. In the morning the grapes, peanuts, berries and skunk where gone. I guess skunks do not get hangovers We will try to get farther south Saturday Morning.
