You could always make it summonable..."summon Packthing". Charietto and Bare elf did that with the summon the forge mod. There are three pack animals that can be summoned to join the party, and they don't "fade away" like a regular summon. I was planning on making Toto a party member summon too. But did you make a portrait? I bet Packthing would need a cute portrait.
