Dawn of Aranna

Not sure if this qualifies as siegelet but posting about it here. There is a new MMORPG being developed for DS2 called Dawn of Aranna. Looks pretty good in it's Alpha stage:

That's the name of the CONTINUE OF BW.
A group of fans develope this continue.
It will be a MMORPG, so it will be many work and we need more mappers, modders and programmers.
There is already a Alpha 1.0, but it's just a little map. There are many bugs yet. But it's a alpha version. To play the Alpha you must download these three files and put them into the "resources" file. Then you have to start BW. Normaly it will work.

All the regions of DS, LoA, DSII and BW are included.
All the items of DS, LoA, DSII and BW are included.
Many monsters of DS, LoA, DSII, BW are included.
Also new items will be created.
The terrain will be more widely than ever, not so straightforward like the known games.

You can visit the Home Page, or use the International Forums, as well as preview screenshots from what has been done so far.

It is German so you will need the Free Translation to read/post at the site.

Got a rough translation for the main story. Bear in mind the free translator only gives a rough draft that is not always correct. I'm sure Killer Gremal will notice a lot of discrepancies with the free translation service though. Wink

The story - the third age

The shades Zaramoths have destroyed the continent, there is no power of the Azuniten more, no rescuer who protects the world of these days and raises his armies against the bad person. Gom, the Shadowjumper, Valdis, Zaramoth and the Übermagier itself everything been descended from the same, bad nature. And, nevertheless, they have refused everything up to now, in the will to become the sole rulers about Aranna. Their names and actions stamped themselves for good in the souls which themselves had to suffer from it. Now, finally, the darkly damnation seemed finished, after two endless Zeitaltern.

However, nobody, no Uträer, no one, no Dryde, Elb or half giant anticipated that was not yet so. Even if the biggest Miss's culprits no more among the living persons stayed Arannas destiny was not sealed with it yet.

To here... The real story still comes!

With all the DS1 / LoA resources, textures, models / meshes, plus the converted map files, the final download is going to have to be huge!

I wish the project team all the best though. What a massive undertaking just to get the maps converted... let alone make a story out of it all. I wonder if they're going to be able to get foliage placement converted, or if they'll have to do it from scratch (on the converted maps). :wacko:

BTW, I took a quick look at some of the screenshots, and I have to say it looks odd seeing a Krug weilding a Morden sword and shield... I could learn to live with it though. Smile

Thanks for the info. Volkan. It's nice to hear that DS2 modding is thriving somewhere.

Someone has contacted me on WoW wanting to know if I still had the alpha for DoA and I cannot find the disc it is on. Just wondering if anyone (KillerGremal) has these files handy. He is specifically searching for the DS1 to DS2 node swap files.

Well, i have made once my own node package of DS1 and it probably would work for DoA too, but i haven't made up my mind yet about possible legal issues when offering it online. I mean it's a remarkable amount of game content...
