[REQUEST] Where and how to start modding DS2BW

I found great mods, but none do exactly what i want, so i thought why not make my own or simply change the ones i have so they work my way.

After a lot of searching (ds2 seems to be dying), i finaly found some resources, but when i try to use them they just don't work.

30_day_skrit.chm : refers to required reading on web pages that don't exist anymore.
SUCompilation.chm : I see the contect list, but all i get is "Navigation to the webpage was canceled"
"What you can try: Retype the address."

Can someone help me out?
A long time ago i knew Dbase, Turbo Pascal, Assembler, C++, Visual Basic and some others, so i'm pretty sure i can learn skrit or at least i could if there were any help files or manuals to learn from.

My main goal is to make DS2BW character control resemble DS1 as much as possible.

Alcasar have you done any modding of DS1? If you have the basic skill set and tools are for the most part the same. You where saying that some of the links where broken. Here is one that works It is for Xaa's Skrit in 30 days. http://ds.heavengames.com/community/spotlights/001/skirt30.htm

Gas Powered Games has also recently brought back on line Siege University and Siege University II Try this link http://garage.gaspowered.com/?q=siegeu2

There are also several links to complations of SU and SU2 on various sites.
Hope this is of some use.

bare_elf, I've done a little modding of DS1, but just very basic modifications of existing mods and that was years ago.

The first link in your post is just a resume of the 30_day_skrit.chm i already have and mentioned in my post.
The second link I'd already found the Siege University 1 but thanks for number 2.

I have found and downloaded SUCompilation.chm a couple of times but as i say in my post, there seems to be a problem with it and i never found a link to download a compilation of SU2.

The 2 links to required reading in 30_day_skrit.chm are:
http://www.dungeonsiege.com/su_201.shtml
http://www.dsrealms.com/app/gameinfo/skrit/readingcomponents.asp

I'm guessing the first one would now be http://garage.gaspowered.com/?q=su_201
and if so I'd need to find DS1 and SE1.

It would be very helpful if all the resources for new modders could be found here. Helpful and less discouraging.

I agree that it would be nice to have all the information posted here without links, but the data is scattered all over the net and lives in the minds of many of the old time modders. I myself have tried many times to write a tutorial on making both armor and weapons. Although I know how to do the work I have trouble explaining what I know about modding. Maybe someone else here has an idea what to do.

I hope someone here can and is willing to do it, coz this seems to be the last DS modding site still running, the last survivor.

Well actually there are a large number of sites still active. if you look at the left side of screen
A majority of the sites in DS Communities, Clans, Project Sites are working as are several not listed here. There is a list of active sites somewhere on the site but my mind is running slow today, lack of sleep I think Smile
