DS Remastered or Remake? Your ideas!

Hey everyone, in times of remakes and remasters I was often thinking, how would a remastered Dungeon Siege look like? Or should it be entirely remade? I wonder what is your opinion on this? Another hint on this matter: You can always post your ideas to Square Enix, and ask I lf they have plans for a new Dungeon Siege. Maybe also write a letter to Chris Taylor. This costs only 10 minutes of your time but it will raise awareness. Kind regards forums: |

I'm quite nostalgic about DS1 (never warmed up to DS2, the conversations between party members were nice tho), so I'd like it best if it was very close to the original, so "remaster" sounds like the safer option to me
Also I think it'd be very important that all the custom mods and maps would still work with the engine.
One think that could definitely be improved is the graphics - and I do NOT mean more polygons or a colored frame around hovered enemies, DS2 - but the lighting is just so primitive...
And of course it would be great if after 20 years Square Enix decided to release the source code.
A remaster for both and their expansions is needed. Improving graphics and updates for modern operating systems would be ideal. I don't know who owns the IP, and I don't think it will happen.
I would love to see an improved version of the Dungeon Siege series that would be true to the original games and if not compatible with old mods, at least have the capability to make new ones (toolkit). My personal preference is for DS 1/LoA but DS2/BW also. If GPG was still around perhaps this might have been possible. After all, way worse games than DS have been updated/remastered so who knows.
I don't know who even owns the content anymore. Square Enix? Doesn't seem that there is any interest in Dungeon Siege from them.
Nice idea though!
I think they do but maybe not the expansions. The expansions are not available on Steam. I'd pick them up if they were, because it's a pain to use CDs and BW has sdhide :(. I converted my CDs to ISOs, but the DRM on BW is in the way.
I have the Steam version as well, even though I still have the CDs. There is some sort of fix posted by a Steam forum user, but it seems to be only for LoA. Steam has pretty deep pockets so I wonder why they didn't chase down and purchase the copyrights for the expansions. I think that would make for some happy customers.
