Doubtless that everyone has heard of the Blu-ray player, which uses a blue laser for higher data storage amounts. Now, I just read that manufacturers in Japan are trying to make ultraviolet laser players, for even more storage..... If this keeps up, it will be like... Gamma ray player: Warning, do not open while in operation. *opens it* *ZAPPPPPPPPP!* *falls over* |

I wonder how much longer optical media will be needed at all... with flash memory becoming cheaper all the time even hard drives are starting to use flash technology. Of course there's still the issue of DRM to consider (optical media standards existing not just for the sake of capacity, but IP security too...).
But, until the issues of cost and copy protection are accomodated, I guess we may need to break out those UV glasses / lead suits in the mean time...![Wink](https://siegetheday.org/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/Roving/wink.png)
excellent as fly-killers, though!! :woot:
