Q&A

o_O No one has started this yet? The board's been on for *checks watch* 5 or so hours! What's with this world?

Thanks to Wizardo55 for the last SiegeTheDay one!

Well, now, who wants to start *in announcer voice* ANOTHER QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS BOARD? Cool (that was a question BTW)

Sharkull's picture

You just beat me to it... :P

How happy are you that SiegeTheDay.org is back in action?!?

Happy happy happy! Can't stop saying happy!

Do you think I may beat Sharkull in posts this time around?

Sharkull's picture

Post count is not a race, so I don't really care. That you would ask such a question disturbs me a bit... I strongly dislike meaningless posting just to increase post count. I'm not accusing you of spammy posts, but your question did sound like post count matters to you, and that is the attitude that leads to spam.

I'm beginning to think that post count should actually be removed from the forums. I want to be known for the content and value of my posts, not the volume... :?

Do you think post count adds to the evilness of "spam" in forums? Please back up your answer with your reasoning...

Actually, yes, I do. People think it's a race, especially if you add member titles for number of posts. Don't be worried that I asked my question, because it was a joke- I finally beat you to something(in this case, making this thread, but that's beside the point), and I felt happy. Plus, I probably disturbed you more in the D2 thread in SN... But in full answer to the question, yes, post coult would, because someone always has to be on top. No matter how many people don't really give a whim about it, someone will. I don't, really, because of the same reason you give: "I want to be known for the content and value of my posts, not the volume..."

Can we delete post count, or is that impossible to do?

To Post or not to Post... That, is the question.

Post count can usually give a general idea of how long and committed has been in a forum, so I am in favor of it.

The problem is with the titles, usually.

Alright! 2 in already! Crazy

I believe it is possible, and I know it was debated among the site admins / moderators during the creation of the original SiegeTheDay... but the decision at the time was to remove the post count titles and keep only the number.

(BTW, you didn't disturb me in the SN D2 thread... don't know where you got that idea).

This is a Q&A thread. To participate: answer the question of the post above yours, and then ask a question for the next poster.

To Post or not to Post

This is both an answer and a question, Sharkull. Wink
Thank you for making the rules clear though, I could hypothetically have missed it. Smile

So, what makes a post relevant, and not a spam?

I'd say if it's relative to the topic at hand it's relative else it's spam.

How many licks does it REALLY take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop!?

About as long as your tongue can hold out. :P

Where did THAT come from? o_O

Edit: My time must be off. My answer is in response to Gene's question, how many licks does it REALLY take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop. For some reason, it put mine all the way up here... o_O

OK... I was only trying to be helpful because it did not have a "?" nor was it at the end of your post... Smile

So, what makes a post relevant, and not a spam?

Aside from the OT forum, (where pretty much anything goes within the site's rules) spam posts are basically posts without significant content. Something that adds to a discussion, or otherwise provides value to a thread is not spam. Unjustified rudeness is spam, and so is a simple "I agree" post (not to be confused with a good "I agree because..." post). Anything that violates the site's rules is also spam (links to warez, naughty sites...). Posting short successive posts, for the sake of post count boosting is spam. Basically; unsolicited, unwanted, irrelevant, or inappropriate messages are spam.

Edit
Wow, major post order weirdness... Gene2324's post is a full day out of synch!
To answer JD's and Gene2324's questions: I don't know, and I don't know. Wink
/Edit

Does anyone remember how many members that StD v1 had?

If I knew what STD was, I would surely remember.

What is STD?

Sexually transmitted disease ?
Subscriber trunk dialling ?
Subscriber toll dialling ?
State transition diagram ?
Internet standard (a subset of the RFCs) ?
ISO 4217 currency code for the São Tomé and Principe Dobra ?
Doctor of Sacred Theology (see doctorate) ?

Edit: The posts seem to be ordered in time, so my post was inserted before Gene2324's. Must have to do with Gene's comuter settings.

If it's a standard tootsie - it might be worth experimenting - what type of sweet are we talking about?

i mangaed to register for once( ! )

regarding tootie pop question, it depends on pops size and the size and power of your tongue..so between 200-700 licks

Wow, Gene2324, you posted tomorrow night - now that's a spell I'd really like to learn...

I don't bloody know what question we are on, so this is the answer: I don't know!

Can we get started again?

I don't know! Laughing out loud

Whose motorcycle is this?

Tootsie frootsie, tootsie frootsie!
who's a'gonna buy my lovely tootsie frootsie...

Who said this memorable line and in which movie?

Ok ok, I'm not sure, but I think this is from the movie, "A Day at the Races", made in 1937.

Am I anywhere near correct, and who IS the person who said that exact line?

Why did Harpo never speak??

correctomundo splendido!!

I love that scene where they are stowaways and are shown hiding inside barrels in one shot as the guards search for them and then when the guard leaves, are shown playing cards. Seconds later the guards return and they are back in their barrels again... ha ha, crazy stuff! Crazy

Wasn't it because he decided that his humour was of a more visual nature, and he preferred to keep it that way??

Sorry, that was me - wretched post count!

Could Harpo really speak!!

This is the answer to the Tootsdie question below

I Had a girlfreind that took 15 mins of lickin to make her tootsie go pop
and 36 licks per min at 15 mins 540 licks

Is the owl wise to say the goal of the prize was 3?

Excuse me, squire, I wish to purchase a warthog - do you know where I can obtain such an item?

Sharkull's picture

Nope, not me. I have no idea... there aren't too many warthogs in Toronto (AKA "Hog Town"). :P

What's your happiest PG13 memory of all time?

When you say PG13, is that a film classification?
That might vary from place to place...
D'you mean those teeny-type movies?
Questions and yet more questions...

In polite society..
What does a woman do sitting down,
A man do standing up,
And a dog do on three legs?
Wink

Well, depending on the gender of the dog, it can be 4 legs. Wink But, politely, it's doing their business.(a female dog squats.)

Ok... How do I know that?

...they shake hands ..in polite society..

I fell asleep... how long it it until it comes out? 24 days, you say? I'm staying in my home until then, so I don't get mauled by a bear. So no, I can't wait.

Does anyone here get tired after being awake half a day? Cool

Loup_Ombrage's picture

I don't... not even three hours, half a school day (well, technically its 3 hours 15 min), or twelve hours, half a "normal" day. I do get tired staying awake past the 20-hour mark though.

If you could learn any language, what would it be?
