a peculiar problem

these past weeks, dungeon siege was working fine and i was enjoying every second, then, one time, when i finished playing, i just switched off the power without properly shutting down, after that, when i start dungeon siege through the shortcut, the screen goes black and dots appear at the lower left side of the screen, I've tried installing it again but i just keep getting the same result, any ideas how to fix this?

When you get the black screen and the dots moving on the lower left of the screen do you also get the hourglass cursor? If you do that is quite normal. Depending on the speed of the computer this will continue anywhere from seconds to minutes. If the starting movie does not occur when the hourglass goes away, you might be missing the patch that updates the game from version 1.0 to 1.11.1462. You can find it by googling it.

well, 5 minutes and still nothing, it just stays there with that cursor, is there a problem with files i installed?

I would recommend that you do the following. If you have any mods or extra maps installed that you try the game without them being enabled. The easiest way to do this would be to rename them in this manner.

As an example:
An enabled mod
toria_complete.dsres
A disabled mod
toria_complete.dsres.off
any word after the dsres. will work I use off just so it is easier to find.

If the game loads with all the mods and extra maps turned off then you can add them back in one at a time to find what is causing the problem.

If that does not work I would suggest moving all of your installed mods and extra maps to a safe directory and then uninstall the game. After uninstalling TOTALLY delete the Dungeon Siege Folder in program flles\Microsoft Games. and the folder Dungeon Siege in your my documents folder. Turn off you anti virus program and reinstall the game and the patch(s) Once you do all this turn off and reboot your computer. This may sound like a great deal of work, but I have had to do this many times over the years.
