Google Image Game

Here's how it works:

1) Pick a word

2) Go to http://images.google.com and do a search for that word. You should get lots of results!

3) Post one of those images ... it can closely "resemble" the word or just be offbeat. Remember to follow site rules regarding nudity, adult content, ect..Try not to get something really big in the interest of space and folks like me who have slow connections. (note: when you save the image to disk you can edit the size. I use Irfranview, which is freeware)

4.) Save the image to disk and then uploadied it at a free image hosting site.Such as Imageshack TinyPic or Photobucket. All are free, but you don't need an account at Imageshack or TinyPic
http://photobucket.com/ ... http://imageshack.us/ http://tinypic.com/

*EDIT* Saving to disk and then uploading takes very little time. I have dialup and the whole process from start to finish took less than 5 minutes.

5.) The next person who posts an image picks the next word.

*EDIT* Per Strider978 :
"While I don't have a problem with the game, the images that are being linked must to be hosted on a freeimage hosting site such as Imageshack or Tinypic. - Strider"

Then when posting, click the Img box, paste that URL, and click Img again to close the tag.

Quick admin update notice,

Images must be hosted using a free imagehosting site such as

http://imageshack.us/ or my favourite http://tinypic.com/

The reason for this is that every time somebody loads this page the image is downloaded off the server it was hot linked from, this puts strain on their servers and takes up some of their bandwidth thus slowing their site down. While this may not seem like much, quite a few web admins do take this very seriously, and as such we don't want sol77's inbox flooded with angry letters referring to his bandwidth stealing activities. Thusly we must do our best to abstain from what is more commonly referred to as "bandwidth-stealing"

That said this game sounds like a fun thread but to repeat myself, images must be hosted on a free image hosting site. Images may be attached to a post and are totally fine as well but I don't really want to encourage that either as the more images get posted here the more our bandwidth slows down and the more Sol's host hates him and makes him pay. Wink

So be a pal use a free image hosting service!

Sorry about that Strider; (and Sol ) . I did say the prefered way was to download the image to disk and then have it hosted. The linking via Google (second option) was ill thought out on my part. Actually downloading to disk and then uploading takes very little time at all, even for dialup. I have played this game at another forum, and it is pretty fun (over a thousand responses) so I hope folks will enjoy it. But if Admins/Mods feel this game will take too much bandwidth please delete it, it won't hurt my feelings. Again, my apologies.

Everyone: Please see my initial post; it has been edited. Thanks...Kathy

kaboom

Next word in honor of my blunder is "Doofus" (also in case the thread is deleted.) Smile

I didn't search on google as I'm not allowed to link anyway.. so here is one from my own ftp....

That guy looks very doofusey, FB. Downloading and then uploading to a free image host doesn't take that much time, but thanks for sharing a doofus from your own collection. What is your choice of word for the next picture?
