How about a thread of general chatting? Maybe we can post things about ourselves to get to know each other better, or just post chatty stuff. So anyway, here are a few things about me: So...tell me about you? BTW, this is the "real" Chatty Cathy forums: |

Kathy where are you?
It has been almost a week since you were at IRC...
I'm sorry...
Slowly we're taking over the world.....
/me laughs evily
A new scientific defination states that we now have 12 planets....
Including Charon, Pluto's "moon" that orbits it at the same speed that Pluto turns on it's axis. (Which is a barbell orbit or something, and isn't considered a proper orbit for some reason).
The complete article is here.
Firebat: Where are you?
Kathy: I'm sorry.
Is sorry a place? And where can I find it? :P
I never heard of the place sorry but it sounds like the perfect name for a flower shop to me.
don't try to confuse old people, FB. Although you may have a point, "sorry" is about 2 towns away from where I live. :P
Oh yes, a good name for a flower shop/candy store/sappy cards vendor.
And if the store delivered, their truck could be named the "Sorry Lorry"... :silly:
The Sorry Lorry...sounds catchy! Maybe we should all go into business together.
re: Loup's post
Xena and what, Pluto the Walt Disney dog?
Just kidding...
Closing in on 300 members, folks.
Now if we can only convince more people to post... And I mean that in the nicest way I can.
Back now, glad to see everyone, again. For some reason, however...everything feels....grim.
That's odd, things seem fine to me, for some reason...
Seems fine to me too. WB LoneKnight.
So anybody seen any good movies lately?
Hi LK - how's tricks?
I've just watched Jack Nicholson in "About Schmidt"..
- I thought the ending was a bit sudden - really odd - but quite brilliant..!!
Saw World Trade Center with the girlfriend. Not a good movie to go on a date. I woulda gone to Snakes on a Plane, but it was sold out. :o
Edit: Coulda gone to accepted, but it looked bad. /Edit
I just saw The Whole Ten Yards on TV... and while it was funny in places, I think the first one (The Whole Nine Yards) was much better.
I saw (most of) My Favourite Martian- a very funny movie imo. I also saw Crossroads (the blues guitar one- NOT the Britney Spears one!) after my guitar teacher gave me a copy of a copy. It was interesting, and I like to kid myself that I can play half as well as that. The guitar battle at the end was brilliant.
The last two that I saw that were any good were Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean 2 I really liked Cars alot, I thought it was very cute and clever.
Don't be lazy - Procrastinate NOW!!!
Or never put off today what you could be putting off tomorrow...
I like to have my cake and then I usually will eat it too. :P
What's the point of cake if you can't eat it? Should I eat someone elses then?
/me munches sjr's cake
/me drops a giant cheesecake on the table, and walks away :P
/me dodges the cheescake crumbs and douses the whole thing with strawberries. And guess what? I ate it! :P
I never understood some of those old proverbs. My mother used to say the cake one to me too. "Kathleen, you cannot have your cake and eat it too!" She would get really angry when I used to ask why not...
Giant cheesecake? I prefer strawberry or blueberry cheesecake myself... (though I don't know what giant's taste like, and I hope I never learn, but I'm sure I wouldn't want giant pieces ruining a good cheesecake). :silly:

Is there anything wikipedia doesn't have a page for?
Wikipedia is wondrous in its width and breadth.
So, what is new, folks?
Hmm.. well.. my balance is a bit off.. But I am happy in a jolly way. ^_^
This week I buried a couple concrete supports and then installed the posts for the bottom end of the railing for some steps leading up to a 10'x20' deck we're building (at the family cottage), and then put on a couple rails (the ones that the balusters will be mounted to). Oh, and that was after attaching the fascia on the side of the stair stringers (before using carriage bolts to secure the posts to the stringers...) so the spacing I had planned on would work out correctly. Still need to put on the top railing boards, and chop off the top of the posts so they are the right height, but the last of the hard work has all been done for the stairs (getting those concrete supports in exactly the right place was a big pain... some bedrock and a drain pipe got in the way of the second post support :!: ).
Only one significant task left (some short steps on the other side of the deck), and then the deck project will be done except for making a small gate, installing the remaining fascia and applying the wood preservatives to all the posts / railing / balusters (we've used composite decking, so that won't need any treatment...).
BTW, it's taken about 4 years of puttering away at it (in season... late summer and early fall) for us to get this far... My Dad actually owns the cottage, and is bankrolling the project while I'm the engineer / architect / foreman / lead worker (Dad, at 79 years young, is a second set of hands, plus an excellent "how-to" resource for the project... despite being a retired management accountant, he's been a "handyman" his whole life).
(I bet you weren't expecting an answer like that... :P ).
I was mildly surprised at the answer.
How was everyone's first week of school?
I got off with a bang by "pwning" some person for trying to assassinate me for spreading rumors about him last year.... turns out the rumors were true and he lost significant reputation.... :P
I also got a shiny new Ti-89 Titanium graphing calculator.
Ah that is a nice calculator.
I don't start school till tomorrow so I can't answer yet but I am looking forward to it. We start the semester with human-computer interaction and A.I so that will be neat.
I actually haven't done anything but relaxing and spending time with my girlfriend the last week or so. Lots of horse and carriage in lightspeed and touring our capital. I had no idea Stockholm was so pretty, it would be the ultimate town for DS2 minus some of the modernities..
I'm almost envious Sharkull, construction work can really help you relax the mind and it is so fun to see your work come together.
Heading back to college in a few days. Can't wait. High School is an obstacle course; it's all about surviving it. College is an obstacle course as well, but not so much a pain.
