nVidia Beta driver vers. 91.28

- for the more adventurous - there is a new Beta driver available via the nVidia site
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html
- it offers additional support for higher-end cards - as well as a smart, new interface..

- I've experienced no problems so far.. Cool

hey welcome to STD have a good stay ^^ (also you should think about registering :P)

on topic : sounds good i might give a test at it, love nvidia :P

Nvidia would be better, if they were ATI. :tease:

^ :yankchain:

ATi would be better if they had better support for linux. :P

Ati would be better if..... oh ye, they suck... :P

No they don't... both ATI and nVidia are good graphics chip makers. I have cards of both manufacturers and I've never had any complaints about any of them. Smile

..there's an even newer one now - version 91.31(Beta)

( - and it works beautifully!)

91.33 Beta, anyone?

- it goes great!! Cool

You do not see ATI putting 1 GB of VRAM on a single card. :P

*cough* The Nvidia Geforce 7950 *cough*

lol Ubercard, to say the least.

Oh what am I going to do now.
I like Nvidia and AMD and do not like ATI or Intel.
AMD is going to buy ATI and Intel is talking about a merger with Nvidia. Why oh why could it not be the other way around!

Oh the Beta driver works on all of my cards with both DS1 and DS2 but I am staying with the current released driver just to be safe.

I believe all 9x.xx drivers have a D3D rendering problem with older games. Also some have noted blue screens after reboot on install, other cans only play for 15 minutes before they get a Driver_not_equal_to_or_less_then stop error.

Intel and Nvidia will not merge, the SEC would never approve that deal since they would control around 75-80% of the graphics market. AMD does not make gpu's so them buying ATI does not change the market. For graphics Intel is the highest percentage, followed by Nvidia, and then ATI. You may not think Intel and gpu's but they dominate the integrated graphics market.

Personally I would prefer more cpu and gpu companies, not less, but I dont mind the AMDTI or whatever name they will go with, the last couple computers I have built have been AMD cpu with ATI gpu. Laughing out loud

- what is it that you dislike about Intel - or is AMD just a personal preference? Stare

AMD makes the best gaming CPUs.

The AMD athlon FX-62 with duel 2.8 Ghz cores, each with 1600 Mhz FSB is currently the best.

personal preference.

Arrow Actually Intel's Conroe chip is doing better then AMD's AM2 because Intel rebuilt their entire CPU architecture for this release, where as the AM2 is almost the same as the 940 socket just a different pin configuration so you don't put the AM2 into and old 940 socket.

The new Intel Duo 2 Core cpu's are the best for anything. The benchmarks for these new cpu's is quite impressive. The new top cpu is the Core 2 Extreme X6800. This cpu is beating the FX62 by 30-80% in every test. In fact I have not seen a benchmark the FX62 is winning in. I do assume that AMD will have something to battle this sometime but for now Intel is back ahead.

For the majority of the AMD vs Intel battles Intel has had the performance crown so historically speaking it is back to normal. Though traditionally AMD has had the better price ratio.

...I spoke too soon, Cpu's change places in the race so quickly :?

What I dislike about Intel blondin's ghost is their technical support and RMA policies.
Here is an example. I built two computers for a local farmer. Except for CPU and Motherboard the systems systems were exactly the same. The building the farmer had the computers in suffered a major power surge from lightening strike near it. This was two years ago. Asus replaced both motherboards for a small fee. AMD sent a new processor even after I explained it was from lightening strike, they said it was under warranty so no problem. Intel it took three hours of farting about to get engineer to talk to. I RMA'd the part to intel and as of today there has still been no response from them about the RMA. Really does not matter anymore because parts have moved on and the one the farmer had is no longer being made and the farmer passed last summer. His wife was unsure of his last words but it could have been "intellahhhhhh"
