Mageworld 3.0 coming up!

Kilarin's picture

For those of you who haven't been keeping up with Xaa's website, you might be interested to know that he just announced he is working on Mageworld 3.0

Also came up in This thread and was first mentioned in this one.

forums:

That is good news indeed. Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like there's going to be some interesting additions... Cool

I hope that this one is better than the others. I really didn't like mageworld, not exactly player friendly. :P

*begins complaining loudly about the cold weather and how it can kill you in Mw, also how you cannot get past the big spider* :P

I also wish that they would add other settings besides "hard". :?

I wouldn't recommend it then. Mageworld isn't for everyone. If you don't like hard, you'll be happier playing something else.

It's tough, but that's what makes it addicting. Old School DS players have reached a point where nothing challenges us. MW was that challenge. I never had the time to beat it, so maybe I'll do so with .3

Also, glad to see Xaa is still involved in the community, somewhat.

- heh, heh.. Laughing out loud

- old Xaa's still a great source for modders..
- animation explained, so clearly - brilliant!!

- nice one, Mr K..!! Cool

Too bad the forums at SN are lost to us. That was a goldmine! Xaa's work there was very valuable to me.

I've restarted.. actually, truth is - I'm pottering about waiting for the version 3.00 update..
so I'm taking my time and just wandering here and there, learning some new stuff as well
just when you think you know all there is to know about this game - something different pops up...

Thank goodness for Kilarin's Journal - a safe place to keep notes..
and linked directly to the game as well.. Cool

Here, Pookah and Mantri contemplate battle with that big ugly spider, right near the start
( yes that's Mantri little bald head just sticking up at the bottom left of the picture - heh, heh! Wink )

Hey - has anyone got any idea what that picture is, on the wall behind Pookah..?? :hmm:

<nevermind> Smile

Ack... sorry Sol. I just split that post into another thread since it seems to have nothing to do with MW.

That is interesting even though I'm not a fan of Mage World. It is nice to see projects like this still worked on.

truck on over here to find out how to download.. Mageworld version 3.0

:cheerleader:

..there's all sorts of little refinements..

..and it seems to run much more smoothly, too.
- that might just be my imagination, though..!!

- It's a highly unusual and very interesting game to play,
- it kinda draws you in, as you go along..
- very clever writing..!!

..and don't forget, Mageworld 3.00 comes with a fully compiled HTML help file..

- at last, a comprehensive guide to the whole game
- yippee!! ..what more could we ask for..??
- everything we ever wanted to know about the game's complex world..
- for both SP and MP modes..

- absolutely brilliant stuff! Smile

-----------------------------
..the world is full of beauty, and life is wonderful!

I just started playing some more Mageworld. The latest version still has the reason I stopped playing before: the game rewards mindless foraging above all other ways of developing your character. I just don't have the patience to develop an SP character's strength by rock summoning so that she can wear the better armor before taking on the king. I do wish there was a good way to get your stats up with extra combat, but whacking a pell soon stops giving you much return, and the enemies don't respawn.

But once you have enough levels for the interesting challenges, it does make a good MP game. The hidden characters are bit too hidden, but the new HTML help fixes that.
