Siege Editor | Crash while attempting to edit Quest Update

I've been following the Siege University tutorials for the past couple of weeks and I'm now at SU 209 Quests. I can follow the tutorial normally until I get to the part where I've to add and edit a quest update using the Quest Manager tool where the editor "caughts" a Fatal Exception and I'm unable to continue. I figured I could go and add the updates directly with a text editor by copying the structure from the corresponding files of other maps, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and could offer a better solution.

In addition, I should mention that I'm using the Steam version of Dungeon Siege 1, which doesn't include the standalone Legends of Aranna expansion even though I read somewhere that it uses the same executable that came with that version of the game and beyond some copyright info updates, I don't know what other changes (if any) Square Enix has committed to the files. I believe it's possible that this could be part of the problem, since I had to edit the registry just so the SE Installer could find my DS installation, but I'm not sure.

Thank you for reading, this is my first post in the forum.

UPDATE: I managed to get the Quest/Chapter Editor tool working appropriately by untanking both the World and MpWorld DSMAP files to the default directory with the Siege Editor. Originally, I untanked those to a separate directory since it wasn't my intention to change anything in them, but once I had them in "...\Documents\Dungeon Siege\Bits\world\maps\" the Quest Updates window started working, at least intermittently. By now, I find it easier to just edit the Quest.gas file, but it's nice to be able to do it in the editor too.

I am not sure if it is a problem with the Steam version of Dungeon Siege 1, or the Siege Editor itself. Over the years when modifying most things I just use a text editor as I never could get Siege Editor to work right and I use the retail version of the games. If you could paste a copy of the exact error message you get in your next post. Maybe someone who understands the Siege Editor better than I can point you in the correct direction.

It may be because I'm just getting started with the Siege Editor, but so far this is the only problem I've run into and it appears to me that by this point I've used most of the features available in the tool. I haven't yet tried modifying the corresponding quest files under the map directory to include the update information, but I think I'll continue the lesson that way and later I'll try to find a regular undefiled GPG-DS1 copy and try to reproduce this error. As for the crash log, I'll update the first post with that information.

Thank you bare_elf.

if ever get the undefiled may want to get something similar to this that way u have loa as well -

Yes, when I looked yesterday earlier today I found many here in my country, but they're in Spanish and not knowing how the localization was done I remain weary and consider them defiled copies. I guess I'll have to import one from the states just to be on the safe side. Thankfully, it seems the prices are pretty reasonable. Do you have any idea if the Siege Editor is the same for both releases of the game? I've the latest version as far as I know.

Thank you Darkelf.
